Joseph Cox said:That is quite literally a fight for resources, for profit, and for a new (or rather, old) world order. By keeping a tight grip on those resources, the US can effectively choke off everyone else's development—it’s just a much easier and cheaper way to maintain dominance.
And let's be real: we aren't sitting on 200 years of Alaskan oil, especially not when you factor in American consumption rates.
I agree, I misread that part

Roughly 200 years.

I’m honestly not entirely sure how to classify those terrorist camps. Don't get me wrong—I am definitely not out here promoting terrorism. But let's be realistic: the Afghans simply don't have the firepower to go toe-to-toe with the US military in a conventional fight. Because they can't match that level of force, their struggle unfortunately ends up being tied to terrorist tactics. I just can't shake the feeling that there is so much more to the situation in Afghanistan or Iraq than just terrorism. Isn't it true that this endless, violent tug-of-war over natural resources is what's actually killing so many people?
As a pacifist, I truly want to believe that peacekeeping forces actually matter. I want to believe they can step in and secure peace for the people who need it most. But looking at history—from the tragedies in Rwanda to the wars we've faced here at home—it seems like a pattern is emerging. It feels like, ultimately, people are forced to fight their own battles to secure their own peace. If that's the case, then what are these detention centers like Guantanamo Bay? Are they anything more than just terrorism wrapped up in a different package?
Look, it's not about resources. It's about profit, lowering the standard of living for citizens, economic crises, and ultimately, a new world order. The US has enough oil in Alaska to last at least 200 years.

I suspect it isn't so much about intelligence as it is about certain moral values that some individuals clearly fail to grasp—or simply refuse to acknowledge.

I guess I have too—but I’m sticking with the U.S. on this one.
The problem is how the news gets filtered through everything—it feels like we're constantly being fed nothing but the absolute worst takes regarding the United Nations mission in Afghanistan.
It's not about filtering "good" or "bad" news—whatever that means to you personally. It's more about how content is curated to present what looks like a complete story. In other words, they tell you just enough to get by, or sometimes, nothing at all.
