Am I just imagining things? in Psychology ·
wanderingwolf98 said:So, I guess my question for you is this: what are you actually going to do if the people who believe and pray end up being right? Like, the folks who believe in God and spend their time praying—they aren't really losing anything, they can only gain something, right? But what happens to you guys who don't believe? And, I mean, how do you explain it when certain people who have basically lost their minds after doing specific religious rituals suddenly become totally normal again and can't even remember that whole period where they were under that influence—you know, from evil forces or some kind of spirit waking up inside them??😕

And what about the massive amount of people who didn't experience a miraculous healing? Did they just not pray hard enough, or was their faith lacking?

I'm lost.

When you don't know what's happening, being lost isn't actually the hard part.

- Certain substances could be the cause (whether you're using them or not).

- A brain tumor.

- Dementia.

- Severe systemic issues, like liver or kidney failure.

- Then there's the list of psychiatric conditions, including schizophrenia—though that isn't the only possibility. You could just be experiencing hallucinations alongside severe depression.

- There’s also the option that someone is intentionally trying to dismantle your sanity.
Maybe someone is just playing games with you, or maybe you're being poisoned. It's less likely, but it isn't impossible. You're the only one who can judge if that's the case, though even you might struggle to be certain since you don't know people well enough to know how far their dull minds might go.

*:

- There is also the option that Satan has entered your house because he wants to eat the cookies you hide in the fridge; you catch him every time, and he flees through the window, leaving nothing but a shadow.
- Or perhaps witches are attempting to kidnap you for sexual exploitation.
- Or maybe aliens have arrived specifically to implant a chip in your brain.
- There's the possibility you moved into a house where the previous tenants were brutally murdered; they can't move on to the next level, so they're stuck in your house, peering at you while you're naked in the shower at night. I'm not sure who one would even report such a filthy act to.

I don't know who you should turn to for help. If it's the Devil, try God. If it's witches, call the Spanish Inquisition, though I'm not sure they're still operational. Honestly, even our old American Inquisition wasn't that bad, so you could reach out to them. They really messed up my great-great-grandfather... he was a wizard, so I actually *do* recommend them.
In the case of aliens, maybe contact the US government or the Men in Black. I don't mean African Americans, but rather the highly efficient Men in Black organization, or FBI agents Mulder and Scully—whom I'd personally call first because I had a thing for Mulder. As for ghosts, I'm not sure who handles reports of sexual abuse; maybe the police? And if you want to kick them out of the house, call Dan Aykroyd without hesitation.

I feel terrible that I can't be of more help in these scenarios, but I can give you excellent advice for the first possibility: the best step would be to see your primary doctor and tell them what's going on. Doctors generally possess much more information regarding your specific situation than some random person on a forum telling you to exorcise demons or devils. Imagine how tragic it would be if someone found out that a person suffering from a brain tumor was once advised by a stranger to go to church to cast out the Devil.

So, are you taking any pills? Which ones?
And a psychiatrist shouldn't be your first stop anyway; go to your primary care physician instead.
Look, neither you nor a bunch of doctors who haven't even run basic tests can actually know what's going on with you. But finding out is possible. Just go see a specialist. If we're talking about something like a tumor, catching it early is everything.

The most sensible answer in this whole thread. I can't believe people in the Psychology subforum have started discussing exorcisms, ghosts, and the Devil's work.
If someone is hallucinating, they need medical treatment. If it's caused by a tumor, they need surgery and care. If it's schizophrenia or another illness, there are treatments for that too. The point is to see a primary care doctor first, judging by the posts and the mention of psychiatrists. And they MUST get treatment. Right now, they might just see ghosts in the window, but in a few weeks or months, they could start seeing the Devil in family members or experience auditory hallucinations that lead to something like, "Demons told me to kill myself." I say this because I knew someone with schizophrenia who saw the Devil in their five-year-old son and thought their spouse was poisoning them!
If nothing else, they need treatment—they're dealing with suicidal thoughts.

Alright, I just finished reading the second post.

A guy who tells you he’s already looking for a backup plan in case you two break up deserves two things:

either you never speak to him again—

or you tell him exactly how you feel about it.

😠

Look, I’m sorry, but I have to say—this whole Facebook situation you're dealing with is honestly kind of funny. Don't get me wrong, I totally get where you're coming from. I struggle with my own insecurities all the time—especially after any little argument with my boyfriend, or whenever he mentions something is bothering him. My brain immediately goes straight to: "That's it. This is the end." I start spiraling, thinking there are just more things pushing him away than pulling him in, and that one more tiny mistake will be the breaking point.
Please, don't kill yourself over Facebook. If it's causing this much stress, just step away from it entirely. I'm not sure what else to tell you, really—just try to focus on the small signs that show he actually cares about you. Every time your mind drifts back to Facebook or those petty little details, try to consciously swap them out for something positive.
Being realistic here—if you hadn't even joined Facebook in the first place, would you even be the type to go around liking a random guy's photo or voting for who looks hot or cute? I mean, if you're willing to vote for a complete stranger just because of a profile picture, you're definitely going to do the same for people you actually know.
I guess what I should actually say is... my anniversary is coming up soon, and his status on Facebook still says "Single"—and like, 80% of his friends are women!
