Susan Lopez2 said:Fair enough, in practice, that's likely how it plays out. However, their core ideology is Liberal capitalism. They don't include any social safety nets or protections for workers' rights in their platform. It is accurate to say they are non-nationalist and socially Liberal.

You've got a point there, especially from a social-left perspective, but honestly, just take a look at the Libertarian Party's economic platform. It's such a shame they aren't a major parliamentary player.

Susan Lopez2 said:Historically speaking, the Liberal interest has always been most deeply rooted in the protection of property rights.

I think I mentioned somewhere before that the Democratic Party is actually the economic right, but honestly, I’d describe them more as a messy cocktail of social anarchists and pure economic clientelism. Just because a few members happen to be pulling the strings on massive amounts of cash doesn't make them "right-wing" in any real sense; that whole setup is just built on shady public-private handshakes and semi-legal backroom deals.

The closest thing we have to the actual economic right is the Libertarian Party.

ruggedscout98 said:That is a fundamental misunderstanding of political science and social movements... Joe Biden can claim to be a liberal all he wants, but his actual actions completely contradict him... if we're talking about true liberals, even Rod Blagojevich fit the bill better... it's just a matter of the centrist voters deciding the outcome (I mentioned this in another thread), which is why both Rod Blagojevich and Joe Biden tried to carve out space in that center. Joe Biden failed, Rod Blagojevich was slightly more successful, whereas someone like Bill Clinton actually pulled it off relatively well... in America, the Election Commission usually hands the win to whichever party manages to swallow the liberals more effectively.

And honestly, your constant whining shows you're totally missing what's actually happening on the political stage because you're clinging to some textbook theory that crashes headfirst into reality at every single micro-level. Just stop trying to lecture everyone; you've already dragged this into a five-post argument all because of your own fixations, even though your opponent was actually much closer to the facts than you are.
The media-driven voter might be the one deciding things, but let's not pretend a media-driven voter is the same thing as being a Liberal.

ruggedscout98 said:That’s just flat-out wrong... liberals ALWAYS partner up with center-right parties—look at Germany, France, or the UK...

...liberals are a centrist option. Just because they lean left or right sometimes doesn't mean they belong to one specific side of the aisle.

Alright, sure, the Liberal Democrats or the Libertarian Party might flip-flop on who ends up in power, but looking at the landscape here in America—where the leader of the biggest leftist party claims he's a liberal, and most people who call themselves liberals actually vote for that same massive leftist party—I don't think it's a stretch to label them as the left. I suppose that's just how things work in developing democracies.
Honestly, trying to parse the whole left-vs-right divide in today's climate is a headache because the lines are constantly shifting.
In my book, economic liberalism belongs to the right, while social liberalism sits firmly on the left.
Since we don't really have a true economic right wing over here, "liberalism" basically just turns into whatever the leftist platform happens to be.

ruggedscout98 said:So liberals

Sure, they exist, but where do they actually sit on the political spectrum?
On a global scale, they usually end up forming coalitions with social democratic or even socialist parties, so if you’re looking at things through an American lens, you'd pretty much always find them leaning toward the left.

Oh, really?!
I mean, what else would they be if we're talking about the social side of things rather than just the economics?!

You honestly seem to despise anything remotely connected to American sports—whether it's the Olympic Committee, the national soccer federation, or even the water polo team. When I see you posting in this thread, I don't just see a question and a smiley face; I see blood dripping from your canines. You’re practically an insult to this entire subforum.

Look, I know that sounds harsh, but what do you actually have to do with Los Angeles FC or their hardcore fan section, other than the fact that you hit the gym a little too hard and now you're acting all tough? You're nothing but an American-killer.

Casey Gomez3 said:The whole Index exposé is nothing more than a smoke and mirrors show. All those professors who were pocketing cash before the investigation started are still doing it today. They haven't been reined in one bit.

I’d say things have actually gotten a lot tougher for students since that whole thing went down. It’s become much harder to pass exams, even when you actually know your stuff—and I'm talking specifically about the College of Engineering.
Calling it "smoke and mirrors" feels a bit off to me, mostly because a huge chunk of the university just stayed completely silent about it.

Jose Kern11 said:God, what a total lie. The Republican Party is just a local Mamić setup???!! "It’s easier to let local Mamić types run wild through the club" — I don't even know what that's supposed to mean, and if I do, then this is easily the most insane sentence ever uttered on this board.

I'm done writing for today; I'm going to go watch some tennis, because honestly, half of you don't make any sense to me and it feels like I'm just typing into a void filled with people who have no clue what's actually happening.
Sure, you brought back the Dynamo name—yeah, okay—even though that shady guy passed away, so who knows where we'd be if he hadn't. But if you're seriously trying to tell me that you guys are the ones who'll finally kick Mamić out after that whole boycott, his return to the stands, and after three emails and two ridiculous, three-mile-long essays... well, even my grandmother wouldn't believe that. The simple truth is that you just don't have the muscle to move anyone right now, period. Anyone saying otherwise is just telling fairy tales. Saying you helped push the office out is a joke, but claiming *you* were the ones who actually did it? That's just hilarious. I'm out, bye.

And who else would have moved him if it wasn't for the BBB and ZZD stepping up to fight?! Everything was handled through legal channels, but apparently, you'd only accept an assassination attempt as a solution, I assume.
It was obvious from the start that politics was the only way to get rid of him, so moves had to be made to trigger that, because politics wouldn't have lifted a finger if there hadn't been pressure applied.
Or do you actually believe it would've been the citizens of Chicago, the sympathizers, or the powerful Torcida who pulled it off?!

Technically, this could actually drive up the value. It would allow the image to be split into three distinct sections—essentially creating three separate pieces: one for the living room, one for the entryway, and one for the kitchen.

In art circles, they call that a triptych. I actually kind of dig the idea.

I was just sitting there thinking to myself how lucky it was that a few young guys happened to be passing by right at that moment to catch something that lasted barely five seconds...
It’s honestly such a shame those two Roman idiots didn't get clocked too, too.

Some Mexican guy told me he was talking about Mark Vučković. 🤷

Hannah Baker23 said:I'm hunting for a specific song title. As far as I can recall, it wasn't actually featured in the movie itself, but maybe during the opening credits or something similar. It definitely has a connection to The Hangover Part II, but I haven't been able to track it down anywhere online under the official soundtrack list. 😢
Anyway, it was some kind of hip-hop track with incredibly catchy lyrics and a solid melody. Unfortunately, my memory is failing me on the actual lines. Hahaha. 😁
