Since most of you already know you can find basically anything in the mall corridor 🙂—I actually stumbled upon a shop just for ribbons! Satin, organza, textured stuff... it’s easily half the price of what we pay back home. Everyone’s always talking about those fancy bows, so since there's only one ribbon specialty shop in the corridor, I figured I'd share the intel.

For example, 1 yard of narrow ribbon in Vegas (or even at other shops) usually goes for $0.33, but I picked up a 100-yard roll over there for just 10 bucks = $13

A 2cm wide organza ribbon costs $0.73 a yard here, but they were selling 45-yard rolls for 8 bucks = $11.

We’re looking at the same Four-piece band $1,800 USD $3.25, but we actually put down a deposit last July to lock them in for this year—so I’m honestly not sure if they’ve bumped up their rates yet.

I'm currently living in New York City, but we’re planning a wedding for next year around April, May, or June, so I'm just doing some preliminary digging... We're originally from Memphis, and honestly, that hall over at the Fairgrounds isn't really my style. The Hilton can accommodate up to 180 guests, so I'm looking into other options... I'm not sure what the availability is typically like there... and on average, how much do people usually put down for deposits?

Not sure if you're asking about the Marriott or what?

As for deposits, here’s my breakdown

Music: $267
Marriott: $1000, but you can usually negotiate them down a bit
Pyrotechnics: $333
Wedding Dress: $233
Photo: As far as I know, around $333, but I didn't pay since my cousin is doing the shots

My wedding is at the Admiral on September 25th, 2010.
Since we’re going all-in with their package, it's costing me $75 per person—decor isn't included, but honestly, the space looks amazing since they just finished repainting and refreshing everything a couple days ago.
If you bring your own stuff, the price drops to $50 per head. Seems like a better deal to me, but...
If your guest list is under 200, you can just stick to their full package, but if you're hitting over 200, you can mix and match things—like bringing in your own dessert or whatever.

I actually work right nearby, so if anyone wants me to swing by and check something out because you can't make it, just let me know!

I've heard about that guy from the Midwest—honestly, I’m pretty skeptical. He's working for $0.50 while everyone else is pulling in at least 3k. I wouldn't take that kind of risk myself, especially with those heavy smoke effects... if the machine isn't top-tier, you just end up with a cloud of smoke where nobody can see you dancing, and then the photos and videos look like absolute trash.

madima150, we always do a full light show for our weddings—we actually booked ours through Leon Studio out in Chicago. Between the room coloring and the light show for a dance floor that’s about 5,600 sq ft, it's gonna run us around 6,$167.

Oh, I totally get that tradition too. My mother-in-law actually let me pick out my own necklace, bracelet, and earrings—but honestly, I’m not even wearing those on the wedding day. Instead, I'm going with my mom's necklace, my grandma's bracelet, some earrings from my MIL, and a ring from his grandmother... and everyone is perfectly happy with that! 🙂

mellowjackal1 said:Hey everyone... my big day is getting closer... just over a month out now... we already sent out the invites, mostly because I just couldn't stop thinking about them. Between the actual sending and all the complaining we've dealt with, I'm a bit frazzled. We went with a pretty playful vibe for the wording and didn't mention our parents at all. The text makes it clear that *we* are the ones inviting you, not them (honestly, they haven't lifted a finger, and we're footing the entire bill and doing all the planning ourselves)... but now the relatives are starting to chirp because apparently, since our parents are the ones "giving us away," they have to be listed. It really stung... I'm wondering if you guys included your parents on your invites, or if we totally messed this up?

We actually put our parents' names on ours! But not in a way where they were "hosting" the wedding. Nobody forced us to do it, and nobody expected it, but since they were covering a huge chunk of the costs, we thought it would be a nice gesture. They loved it, and so did we.

Honestly, I don't think it's even a big deal—I haven't seen parents listed on an invitation in forever, even in cases where the parents paid for absolutely everything.

Personally, I don't think you did anything wrong. It's just a matter of taste and what you want. And since you mentioned they haven't helped one bit with the wedding, I have no idea why they’d expect to be included anyway.

There’s this candle maker in Indianapolis called Osijek Prafin—they have a website, so you can just shoot them an inquiry there.

I've got a lead on some wine from a local Napa Valley vineyard at a pretty sweet price—if anyone’s interested, just shoot me a DM.

I’ve had my hair cut by her—Cornelia—a few times, plus did my styling once. Honestly? Not super impressed with the styling part—it kind of fell apart pretty easily—but she’s definitely solid at haircuts.

Those cute little bottles filled with cherry brandy or some long-aged whiskey? You can find them at Anton's place over in Ivanhoe. They’re gorgeous and totally unique, but man, they aren't cheap!

I reckon you could probably find some wineries out near Memphis heading toward Savannah that might sell them to you on the low.

And Ivona01—I only grab vases from Jake, and it ends up being a total steal.

Hannah Bailey6 said:Does anyone know what the pricing looks like over at the Admiral in Indianapolis?

I know they have that option where everything is just one flat rate per $75 chair—if you're hosting under 250 people, that's pretty much your only way to go. But if your guest list is bigger than that, you can definitely negotiate the details!

It’s not really a huge thing where I’m from—I haven't seen many people carrying around those little gift baskets 🙂 but I was thinking about bringing some bourbon (the classic choice) and maybe some cherry liqueur for the ladies. Honestly, I think that’s plenty.

mellowjackal1, can you shoot me Robert's info from Hotel Osijek via PM?

Chloe Evans6 said:Wait, so you can get a pack of 20 bows? Or 🤷
And if you have any more info—either from you or from Bradley Wright—let me know... I think she was over by the corridor area too...
What else is actually worth buying there for wedding guests? Something decent...
Balloons per unit—what’s the price
Bows per unit—price please
Ribbons
Small floral accents
Candles
And maybe napkins—do they even carry those?!
Table runners, you know, the kind for couples...

Yeah, the bows come in packs of 20.

No clue about the balloons, but they definitely have ribbons, flowers, and table runners.

Matthew Foster66 said:Is it actually difficult to track down wedding supplies—you know, things like boutonnieres, table runners, candles, and the rest—along the Midwest corridor? I’ve only been out that way once in my life, and I honestly don't recall seeing anything like that available nearby!

You honestly can't miss it—once you start walking through those halls, you'll see shops dedicated entirely to wedding decor everywhere. There are several of them.

And hey, latest update: they have a 20-pack for just $2.50, which is $3.25!

You can find those killer hair bows at Vigor in VK, but they're way cheaper out in the Canada Corridor. $2.75 It’s a 10-pack. Since I bought mine there, Vigor is really the only place I know about.

mellowjackal1 said:Thanks so much, ladies! I was thinking about putting some glass bowls on the tables with those candles. I checked out one shop where a single candle is almost $1.25, which means the whole display setup would run me about $13... I was kind of hoping it might be cheaper if I just put it all together myself.

It'll definitely be cheaper—I'm doing the same thing because it saves me half the cost. And honestly, $1.25 is just insane for a single floating candle.

mellowjackal1 said:hey ladies!
Just joined the group and hoping you guys can point me in the right direction.
Does anyone know where I can snag those floating candles? Ideally looking for a bulk pack or something... need quite a few.
I swung by Vegas earlier, but honestly, it was kind of a letdown.

The subway in Cleveland had them at a pretty good price, though I'm not sure if they're still in stock.
I'm definitely heading to Paraffin products for my candles!

Chloe Evans6 said:mmm, that sounds amazing—we’ll all be getting ready together and counting down the days...
only 7 months left 😍
the way you described it is just so sweet... definitely go for it, I think it'll turn out great... 😉
now I'm actually thinking about grabbing those cork ones too—they seem even better than the standard stoppers 👍
I just wonder, what are you planning to seal them with? (sorry, I feel like I'm always asking questions!) 🤣

I found some acrylic paints (I'm leaning toward gold) that aren't too pricey ($10 per bottle), so I'll try those.

But I'm probably just going to paint the part that sticks out when the bottle is capped—I have no clue 🤷 how it would look if I painted the whole thing. I'm worried the Alcohol might melt the paint right off.

The other option is using automotive spray paint. It's all still just a plan, but since I want gold and purple, I'll definitely end up with something like that.

I'll let you guys know how it works once I give it a shot.
