I was watching some highlights from last season, and it really hit me how much the landscape of college athletics has shifted lately. It feels like every time I turn on the news, a powerhouse program is suddenly stacked with players who spent the previous year somewhere else.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing talent move around, and it definitely raises the level of competition. It makes the preseason matchups so much more unpredictable. But I can't help but wonder if we're losing that "homegrown" feel that made certain teams so special to follow. There used to be a sense of continuity—watching a group of guys grow together from freshman year through graduation. Now, it feels more like a revolving door of talent.
It makes me wonder if the "identity" of a team even exists anymore if the roster looks completely different every single August. Is it still about building a program, or is it just a constant scramble to find the best available pieces?
Do you guys think this constant shuffling makes the games more exciting, or does it just kill the connection fans have with the players?
In my small town in the Midwest, they have green ribbons everywhere—large ones, medium ones, and small ones! For the medium size, I have $3.25 20 pieces, which works out to about 50 yards per piece. As for the large ones, I believe there are about 20 of them $6.75. They also carry organza and tulle, too.
Thanks everyone—hopefully I’ll have some luck finding a rental soon!
Does anyone know of a decent tent rental service out here in the Midwest? I’m looking for something large enough to accommodate about 50 people.
My deposits:
Don't laugh $500
Band 1- $333
Band 2-$333
Flowers- $167
Wedding dress- $333
Photographer—nothing yet, they aren't asking for a deposit
Desserts—my mother-in-law is making everything
Cake—nothing yet, no deposit required

By the end of the night, she had completely shredded the hem—it was this delicate lace thing—and the whole gown was absolutely caked in mud. But you know what? She just paid the rental fee like everything was totally fine and walked away. 😁 No extra charges, nothing.
Thanks, I feel much more at ease now. I actually went with Stephanie 😍
Excuse me if I’m being a bit of a busybody here—I know, I know, 🙂—but I’ve finally picked out my wedding dress. It is, without question, the most stunning gown in existence, and honestly, probably the most expensive one in the shop, too. 😢 I’ve already made peace with the price tag—after all, you only do this once in a lifetime, right?—but now a little wave of panic has hit me. I realized I completely forgot to ask the consultants at the boutique: what happens if something actually happens to the dress? Like, if there’s a tiny tear or some unexpected damage... am I the one stuck footing the bill for repairs? 😢
😕

So, here’s the deal: when you're driving in from Michigan, just take a right before you hit the local farmers' market, and you'll see another shop right there on the right side. There are some stairs out front covered in random stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with weddings—think things like BBQ grills or trash cans—😕 but once you head inside, they have some truly wonderful items!
Just wanted to drop a quick tip here—this might be useful for someone! There’s this little boutique over in Kansas run by a lovely woman where you can find absolutely everything at incredible prices. For instance, those large satin bows they have? You can grab $6.75 10 pieces for a steal. And the decorative rose accents for cakes are just $0.83 a piece. They also carry ribbons, floral accents, and pretty much any other embellishment you could dream up. It is definitely worth making the trip!
Daisy, thanks so much! I actually tracked them down on Face!

. I'm originally from Memphis, and I really wanted to have my wedding there. So, that's exactly what happened...
The Church of Saint Philip and Jacob, wow!
Vukota Hall in Memphis—hm... well, the venue was lovely, prices were reasonable, they had several menu options to choose from, and all in all, it was fine !!! I don't have any complaints, but I won't go overboard with the praise either🙂
The band—Bolero... best wishes to them!!! The guys did an incredible job. It was so much fun, and they played all the songs we requested, which we had agreed upon beforehand. Everything went exactly how I asked... there were no breaks, except for dinner. They kept playing until 6 AM!!!
Makeup—Gallah Cosmetics in Memphis. Eva did my makeup, and honestly, I'm speechless... nothing but praise, praise, and more praise. Simply perfect !!! 😍
I recommend her to anyone and guarantee you won't be disappointed. Just make sure to ask for EVA !!!
Hair—Ivana vu Hair Salon. Well... okay, the style wasn't anything overly complicated or demanding, so I don't have much to say about it. Everything went smoothly!!!
Wedding dress—Stefanie Vk
Home decor—Karaka OS. Short and sweet: PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!
And the flowers—My Flowers 🙂 is an Exclusive !!! wedding decoration studio. The girls are new, based in Memphis. One of them used to work for someone in a different city, I can't remember exactly... anyway... everyone, absolutely everyone, was enchanted by what they created. They pay so much attention to detail—candles, crystals, glitter... their floral arrangements are very lush (in terms of volume) and they are affordable! I truly visited every single vendor out there, and my Maid of Honor recommended them to me... THANK YOU, MAID OF HONOR!!! Ultimately, the flowers were the absolute highlight of everything!!!😍
I also got my invitations, thank-you cards, and boutonnieres from them. As for the invitations $2.00, I couldn't find that price anywhere else... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM !!!🙏
Oh, right... they also gave me a faux bouquet as a gift, which was identical to my bridal bouquet. I tossed the fake one, while mine stayed with me, along with custom license plates featuring our names—all for free.
Finally, I have to mention the photographer... the one and only STUDIO 69... words truly fail me here, because words can't describe it!!!🙂 The price is a bit higher, but it is absolutely justified
Anyway, I've rambled quite a bit... that would be the short version🙂 If anyone needs anything, feel free to ask, I'm happy to help!!!👍
Oh, and where can I find those amazing flower girls? Do they have a website? Are they super expensive? Sorry for all the questions
Thanks so much—I'll definitely have to make the trip out there!
rapidfox42 said:You honestly can't miss it—once you start walking through those halls, you'll see shops dedicated entirely to wedding decor everywhere. There are several of them.
And hey, latest update: they have a 20-pack for just $2.50, which is $3.25!
Thanks so much!!!🙏
Is it actually difficult to track down wedding supplies—you know, things like boutonnieres, table runners, candles, and the rest—along the Midwest corridor? I’ve only been out that way once in my life, and I honestly don't recall seeing anything like that available nearby!
rapidfox42 said:lonepilot13 Kiara thanks for the reply. We actually booked them for our wedding—but honestly, I've never even heard them play live.
If anyone else has some intel on the Quattro band, please let me know!
The Beatles are absolutely PHENOMENAL! They create such an incredible vibe—honestly, there isn't a single song they can't nail. I would be thrilled if they were playing at my place, but unfortunately, they aren't free until November.😢
Christian Taylor8 said:Yeah, she comes by. Last year we paid $27 per person, and honestly, our makeup looked flawless even after being out in 100-degree heat for 12 hours and dealing with about 200 people offering congratulations. DM me for her number
Could you please send me her number via DM too? Thanks!
