I was watching some highlights from last season, and it really hit me how much the landscape of college athletics has shifted lately. It feels like every time I turn on the news, a powerhouse program is suddenly stacked with players who spent the previous year somewhere else.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing talent move around, and it definitely raises the level of competition. It makes the preseason matchups so much more unpredictable. But I can't help but wonder if we're losing that "homegrown" feel that made certain teams so special to follow. There used to be a sense of continuity—watching a group of guys grow together from freshman year through graduation. Now, it feels more like a revolving door of talent.
It makes me wonder if the "identity" of a team even exists anymore if the roster looks completely different every single August. Is it still about building a program, or is it just a constant scramble to find the best available pieces?
Do you guys think this constant shuffling makes the games more exciting, or does it just kill the connection fans have with the players?
