Meanwhile, Roskomnadzor is out here threatening to "instantly block" any media outlets that dare to spread what they call "fake news" regarding mobilization efforts in Russia. They dropped that little warning over on their official Telegram channel, as if anyone actually needs permission to talk about what's happening on the ground.

Look, everyone finished their service and everyone's on some kind of roster. Now comes the mass exodus from Russia.

They won't be actively shooting at each other, sure, but every single minor issue is going to turn into a total disaster.

I was chatting with the director of the tourism board for one of our major vacation spots recently, and she told me everything is basically booked solid. Where exactly are you supposed to put those Russians? She said there are maybe a handful of apartments or hotel rooms empty out of thousands.
Yeah, obviously talking out of his ass. I work for one of our massive domestic tourism giants and we're packed, and we don't have any Russians. Even if we had double the capacity, we'd still be full without them.

Honestly, after everything we've seen lately, the whole "promoting democracy" thing feels like a total bust. The entire Western playbook—where the strategy was basically just dumping money into these places and opening up their markets, thinking it would magically trigger a shift toward a democratic way of life—has completely flopped. It didn't work. All it really did was line the pockets of China and Russia, but it sure as hell didn't turn them into "normal" countries. If anything, they’re exactly the same as before, just way more powerful than they used to be.

Besides, until a year ago, the guy in charge in the US was the one who slapped tariffs on steel by executive order. It's all the same—it doesn't matter which side of the aisle sends a lunatic to power.
I mean, come on. That same Putin was invading neighboring countries ages ago, and that same Russia shot down a plane full of over 200 Europeans.
