It's always jarring when you see someone who seems so composed and disciplined in their professional life suddenly unravel behind closed doors. It makes you wonder how much of a person's public persona is just a carefully constructed lie. Does anyone else feel like we're seeing more of these "tough guy" facades cracking lately?

Absolutely, it's disturbingly good. 🙏
The script feels like something Hemingway would have penned.
Do you find yourself constantly digging in your ears? Using swabs or other cleaning tools? I deal with the exact same issue, and honestly, the only real fix is to stop picking at them, but the urge is relentless. My doctor explained it this way: the ear exists in a delicate biological balance between bacteria and fungi. When everything is in equilibrium, you’re fine. If wax builds up too much, the body naturally pushes it out. However, over the years, I’ve developed a compulsive habit of picking and an addiction to that "eargasm"—that psychological hit you get when you finally dig something out. By constantly cleaning, I prevent natural wax buildup, leaving nothing behind but a fungal culture that causes constant itching. If your problem stems from over-cleaning with swabs, the solution is to simply stop. It works every time I try, but the addiction is a difficult hurdle to clear.

Can anyone tell me if I can see a specialist without a referral? Is it possible to just book an initial consultation directly with them?
Hey everyone. I’ve managed to stop biting my nails for about two weeks now, though I prefer not to dwell on the exact number just to keep my momentum going. My hand still drifts toward my mouth occasionally, but I’ve been able to maintain control. So far, I haven't even broken a single nail, and I'm hoping that streak continues. Whenever the urge hits, I get this strange, uncomfortable sensation in my fingertips; I usually handle it by washing my hands, which seems to help—I suppose it’s a bit like a withdrawal symptom. Even though I've stopped, I haven't noticed any actual improvement in the appearance of my nails or the surrounding cuticles yet. My nails are quite wide and the skin stays tight. For those of you who quit biting naturally without resorting to acrylics or gels, when can I realistically expect to see progress? How does the recovery process actually unfold? Having a timeline would serve as much-needed motivation to keep pushing forward. Previously, I was a chronic biter, often tearing the skin around the nail bed, and now that they are finally growing, there is a noticeable gap under the nail tip. 😢
I would appreciate some insight from anyone who can help. 🙂
Some encouragement would go a long way. 🙂
