Everything you need for a California wedding

We hired Nera x band for our wedding, and honestly? We were pretty disappointed.
Before the big day, I had several chats with the lead singer, and she went out of her way to convince us that they were going to throw an absolute rager—she promised we’d have a blast. But what we actually got was this lukewarm, half-hearted celebration where nobody seemed enthusiastic or even remotely interested in getting the party started.
Just a few days before the wedding, during one of our talks, she mentioned that their saxophonist wouldn't be able to make it because he had to head off to North Mexico. Even though the lineup changed, they didn't offer us any discount, but we didn't want to make a scene—stressing out three days before the wedding is the last thing anyone needs.
On the actual wedding day, everything else was perfect—I was over the moon! The restaurant before the ceremony was great, the accordion player was flawless, and the flowers, the church, the venue, my dress, the photographer... everything was spot on. They were the only ones who let us down, and I definitely wouldn't recommend them. The breaks between sets were way too long, and they completely failed to read the room. It got to the point where we actually had to walk over to them, pull them away from their table, and practically beg them to play with more energy.
We originally booked them because I’d seen them perform at a wedding back in 2012, and they were absolutely incredible. Maybe they’ve just lost their spark or their drive since then, but that was our experience, and unfortunately, you can't redo a wedding night once the music dies down.
A little advice for future newlyweds: please, go see the band you're planning to hire live if you can. If you have a specific repertoire in mind, insist on it! Don't let them sweet-talk you into accepting less, and if you notice they aren't sticking to the plan during the event, speak up immediately.
I wish you all beautiful weddings and marriages filled with love and happiness! 🙂🙂
