Mark Nelson46 said:Hey everyone

I’m not trying to start any drama here, but honestly, the nightmare I’ve been through is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. It started with this tiny bump on my nose and a tip that would droop whenever I smiled. My first surgeon was John Doe. I was crystal clear about what I wanted—just fix the bump and lift the tip slightly—but he turned it into a literal "bird beak."
If I had realized back then that he had peaked, I never would have asked him to fix it, because his work was nowhere near what we discussed. A year later, he did a revision under local anesthesia and basically wrecked my face (apparently he thought thinning the skin from the inside was a good idea). When he finally took the mold off, my nose was purple and totally flattened. Once the swelling went down, it looked like a pear—completely deformed, no tip, just totally asymmetrical on both sides. It was a freaking DISASTER. Every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I felt like I was losing my mind. That "doctor" didn't even try to apologize, and he wouldn't even think about giving me my money back until I threatened to blast him in every single newspaper. Like I said, I was spiraling, so once I finally found the strength, I went to the famous Tom Hanks and begged him to see if he could fix the mess.

My nose wasn't just disfigured anymore; I ended up with all these broken capillaries all over the surface, so now I look like I've spent my whole life at a bar. I explained everything to Tom Hanks, and during our talk, I actually felt like I could trust him. He seemed so confident, and when I asked if he could really fix such a damaged nose and if he’d even be willing to operate on me, he straight up told me, "I can't fully fix this, and I wouldn't even agree to operate on you given everything you've endured."
I actually felt relieved because he sounded so honest; he seemed like a decent guy.
So, he did go ahead with the surgery, but I hate to say it, but it doesn't look much better than before. The asymmetry is still there, the tip is gone... honestly, it's a CATASTROPHE. Of course, he took all the money upfront—partly before I even arrived in NYC and part before the actual procedure. At my first follow-up, his excuse was, "We worked hard on your nose, but you just need new cartilage," which is such a slap in the face. I have so much more I want to say to him, especially since he told me *before* the surgery that there wasn't much he could do, yet he still took my money only to give me that excuse later.
The last 13 years of my life have been ruined by a supposedly "simple" procedure meant to just enhance my face and fix a problem I've had since childhood. Instead, I got a lifetime of misery that I paid for, yet I don't even have receipts for the damage done.
Please, if anyone knows an honest, high-quality surgeon who could actually help me—specifically someone who can reconstruct cartilage—let me know. I don't want to walk around the world looking like this anymore.

Thanks😉

I mean, seriously, why? Is there something wrong with that?

For the skin right around your eyes? Yeah, absolutely.

Tissue needs actual time to bounce back from trauma—you can't just fast-track the healing process. Messing around too much with the under-eye area can end up popping capillaries and causing way more damage than any benefit you'd actually get out of it.

Just circling back on this one: does anyone remember which doctor actually suggested putting heparin gel on your face?

Is there anything at all that actually helps? Like, maybe cold compresses?

It wasn't a doctor—I just read it somewhere on here. Now I'm low-key freaking out.

Time. Honestly, just time. Cold compresses make sense right after the injury, but a few days later? Not really helping much anymore...

Don't panic, seriously. Just let your face rest. Everyone's recovery is different—you can't just apply every technique blindly without knowing the specific type and scale of the procedure you had. You really need to follow the instructions from your actual doctor, the one who saw you in person and knows exactly what they did during the surgery.

Honestly, I wouldn't put anything around your eyes except for some cold compresses.
They really did the trick for me—on the first day, my eyes were so swollen I could barely even open them.

On another note, does anyone know if it's normal to have a slight fever or just feel kind of under the weather after having a tampon removed?

Not necessarily—I actually had mine under local with sedation, and from what I've seen on here, a few others have gone that route too.

Has anyone here actually dealt with Dr. Orihovac before? I’ve got a deviated septum, so I’m looking to tackle the aesthetic side of things at the same time if possible.

If I actually knew someone who had surgery with him, I wouldn't be hunting for answers here! I’m just gathering info the best way I know how, trying to make sure I actually pick someone smart this time. div>

Okay, my bad, seriously—I don't know what's gotten into me, I guess the waiting game is finally getting to my nerves. (Been searching for two years now and I just want to be smart about it this time), don't be mad at me. 🙂
I think I’m going to go for an "interview" with Vance. 😁 I’ll hit him with questions that will keep him busy for months 😵—not just basic amateur stuff, but asking about his past work, which specific types of surgeries he thinks he’s the absolute king of, and whether he became an ENT because he’s chasing the money or if he actually gives a damn about helping patients. I need to see who’s legit, even if I have to poke around a bit, because my relatives are pushing one guy on me, but there are like ten different ENTs in town, so it could be anyone. When I listen to other people's stories, it just makes me more skeptical.
Becker has been getting some hype too, so I’ll probably dig into him as well, though one woman said to steer clear of him without even saying what her actual issue was, which is what drives me crazy about this thread—everyone posts, but they leave out the most important details. Every woman seems to compliment him, acting like everything is perfect just because he’s a total sweetheart. Like, is breathing actually okay, ladies?
The guys here don't write much, maybe because the women dominate the conversation, and honestly, I don't even know what I'm doing here myself, haha.

Anyway...
It still feels totally illogical to me that nobody mentions functional improvements—like, which doctor actually solved the underlying problem. Maybe that’s why those greedy ones exist, people who took the risk and fixed themselves without any help. If that’s how the world works today, why don't we just shut down this stupid topic and let doctors play Russian roulette? ☕
By the way, if anyone is following my updates, Guzin isn't on the list at the local hospital based on the names I saw on the clinic doors yesterday. I snapped a photo of them; maybe he's an internist over at Vineyard or maybe it's actually Gudelj.
Google search: "Dr. Goran Gudelj, ENT department at the local hospital, an incredibly skilled and kind doctor who puts his patients above everything else."
I asked a colleague from the hospital who had a great experience, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Shoot me a DM if you really need the info. That's all I've got for this thread for now.

I'm not even sure I followed you there—could you please clarify what you meant by that? Who exactly are you talking about?

The more I scroll through these comments, the more I’m freaking out about getting surgery. Is it actually possible that out of every single doctor out there, not one has a perfect reputation?
I’m constantly lurking on this forum, and I’ll find some surgeon who looks totally amazing, only to flip through a few pages and realize they absolutely wrecked someone's nose—even if they nailed it for someone else.
Look, I get that every nose is different, but I gotta ask: is there seriously any doctor out there who can fix a nose properly without leaving you with lumps, bumps, or other issues?

My sister actually suggested I smear butter or margarine around my eyes... which sounds insane, but honestly, with how swollen and bruised I am, I'll try anything. The skin under my eyes is already pretty wrinkled and, frankly, looks terrible—probably because of this whole mess—so I’m just praying the skin doesn't actually split open. As for the ice packs, after three days, they don't really do much anymore. I finally got the tampons out yesterday, and my sister told me I can stop icing now... thank God... seriously, I was starting to worry I'd end up with frostbite from all that constant chilling. 🙂🙂

I actually had my appointment with Tony this past Wednesday, and honestly, everything has been smooth sailing so far... they're removing the splint this Wednesday, so I'll let you know if everything turned out okay. Even though I've heard nothing but glowing praise for him—specifically for Danny🙂 🙂As for the recovery, it was honestly great; I didn't feel much pain at all. My only real issues were breathing through my mouth and that swelling around the eyes... but even that was just after the packing was removed, so it's already in the rearview mirror.🙂

Just a few more days until they take this cast off... honestly, I might lose my mind from the itching!

Once the cast is gone, does a plastic brace come next, or is that finally the end of it?

I get that every nose is different—obviously—but I still have to ask; is there really just one doctor out there who can do a great job without leaving you with lumps, bumps, or other issues later on?

Just keep in mind that some people are way too critical of a nose that hasn't even finished settling into its final shape yet.
For instance, I just went with my gut feeling—it was important to me that I felt comfortable and that the doctor was approachable. But I did make sure to glance over their previous work and check this forum too... 😉

It’s still red... though it looks like it's fading—I probably just burned myself on something while I was sleeping... 🙄

I feel like I've lost count of how many times I've pointed out that trying to push prices, epic stories, or whatever else regarding private providers isn't going to fly here. People can have their own opinions on it, sure, but it just won't happen. If that Munitić guy is just doing his job at the hospital, fine... but this? This is different...
