According to The New York Times, hundreds of kids between 12 and 16 who got the Pfizer / BioNTech shot in Israel haven't had any serious side effects. I guess that might be one of those early signs that the COVID-19 vaccine could be safe for minors, at least before we actually see the formal clinical trial results.

Hey Samuel Turner2, look at you. With hundreds of posts like that, I guess you’re basically a COVID-19 expert now. You even managed to write that whole thing about how I'm responsible for potentially making my son sick. Nice work.

Even today, I find myself staring at a sentence like that, just wondering.

About 20 years ago, I had the flu—I was young and healthy, yet I honestly thought I was going to die because of how bad it felt. Ever since then, I get my flu shot regularly because I never want to go through that again.
In comparison, COVID-19 was a zero for me. And frankly, I don't see much reason to get vaccinated if my body handled it without any issues.

I had the flu once myself, nothing major. And it never even crosses my mind to get a flu shot.

I know two people in their seventies who are incredibly skeptical about the COVID-19 vaccine. Mostly because their first experience with a flu shot totally killed any interest they had in voluntary vaccinations.

They come from completely different backgrounds and cultures.

To each their own, I suppose.

Look, I wouldn't call myself a travel fanatic, but yeah... they went out there and saw things. And I don't just mean crossing state lines.

Yeah, we'll see if it becomes mandatory.

Personally, I've been getting the impression that your comfort zone is actually pretty small.

It seems easier for you to just wait around for two, three, or four years until you feel certain.

As for COVID, we aren't planning on doing that one. My husband and I have pretty much agreed on that.
I actually caught COVID myself, but I didn't isolate from them, and they stayed perfectly healthy. My symptoms were... well, underwhelming, I guess. Honestly, I felt like I could have run a marathon. A standard winter bug probably would have hit me harder than that did...

Fair enough. Though I suppose someone might jump in to ask if those extra vaccines were actually tested across all age groups and ethnicities.

I know people who definitely didn't get lucky with "mild" symptoms.

You aren't going to be forced.

If things ever get too heavy, you could always just move to Armenia or something where those rules don't apply.

I did it because we started running into travel restrictions and issues moving around.

Took my 15-year-old over to San Francisco yesterday to get him his Pfizer shot. I won't pretend to be jumping for joy about it—the benefits feel a bit murky, I guess. But honestly, our quality of life is sliding downhill fast, and he won't stay fifteen forever.

Travel, sports games, concerts.

Plus, I figure it’s one way to help out the community. My wife isn't on board, though. We had ourselves a bit of an argument.

Maybe she's got a point. 🙂
