Would you get your kids vaccinated against COVID? in Coronavirus ·

Things will change. It all depends on how well—or how badly—we handle it.

You can't just "get them away" from COVID when it's everywhere. I'm not trying to keep my kids locked in an apartment forever. I just hope this "new normal" ends up being more responsible than the old one—or this current mess. Since there’s no escaping the virus, I’m doing what I can to keep us safe. Vaccination is the smartest move here. If enough people get vaccinated, we won't need these restrictive measures anymore—and that’s exactly what we all want.

They’re smart enough to know this isn't just about their own kid sitting in a doctor's office in Chicago... we aren't talking about you or your individual child here... I’ll say it one more time for the folks in the back... this is a numbers game. It's about how a virus spreads through massive populations in a tiny window of time... vaccination is prevention... pure and simple prevention... it's what you might call "controlled immunity spreading."

We are surrounded by immunocompromised people. We’re trying to protect them too. Some family members can't get vaccinated at all. Refusing to get the shot would be irresponsible toward them. Honestly? It would be dangerous.

Same here. That’s exactly why I actually listen to what the scientists and experts are saying regarding COVID and the vaccines. The vast majority of actual experts in those fields are all in agreement: get vaccinated.

In that scenario, you are simply exposing them to the risk of side effects, which can include death. That isn't an act of love; it is pure irresponsibility. Why would anyone choose to do that?

They're healthy right now, and I want to keep it that way. My priority is shielding them from real dangers, and let's face it—COVID carries much higher risks than any vaccine. When it comes to medicine, I listen to the doctors and the experts—just like I listened to the contractors during my massive kitchen remodel.

I love my kids and I want to protect them as much as possible. They’ve stayed up to date on all their routine shots—and they’re getting the COVID ones, too.
