The "wild card" factor in sports in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’ve always felt that the wild card spots are the most unpredictable part of any major tournament. It’s such a gamble whether a rising star or a veteran getting a second chance will actually make a dent in the bracket. Do you guys think these spots are usually deserved, or just pure hype?
..White blood cell counts can spike during chemo exclusively due to non-specific triggers if there's an actual medical indication for it, and that’s entirely up to the doctor to decide... everything else is just hearsay. There isn't some magic machine that jumpstarts bone marrow, and no specific food is going to force your body to crank out extra leukocytes or platelets on demand. It’s unfortunate, but that's the reality. Doctors are right when they say the blood counts will recover on their own; that’s just how the natural cycle of chemotherapy works. The treatment suppresses the counts, then after a while, they bounce back. As for those people preaching miracle cures, I'd suggest they spend a day shadowing a hematology department at a place like Mayo Clinic. If they actually do, maybe they should try asking the hematologists who are already exhausted from hearing about "miracle drinks" every single day.
If some "experienced" doctor actually said that... they belong in a psych ward. Stop talking nonsense.
...read through it...nothing revolutionary, nothing new...we're just spinning our wheels...for years, everyone's been researching this in their own little silos...the truth is, there's no cure, and there won't be one anytime soon, unfortunately...I've had my fill of "miracle workers," researchers, big talkers, and empty promises.
What exactly are immunosuppressants? in Health ·
..I’m with everything Douglas Fowler said here..compared to those drugs, the cytostatics used in chemo seem like harmless little vitamins....but they’re just "friendly" enough to wreck your immune system so badly you might as well have AIDS, leaving you wide open for bacteria, infections, and viruses to tear you apart...they physically destroy you and leave you a shell of yourself...and that goes for the immunosuppressants they use during bone marrow transplants too.
I’m honestly heartbroken... whether you call it fate, genetics, or God's will, I don't care—it just isn't fair. Losing a parent, a grandparent, or anyone close to you is devastating enough, but when someone passes away that young... there's really no comfort to be found in that. My heart goes out to his parents. When things happen this way, when it's just not right, it's easily the hardest thing you can face in life.
