The mental grind of a comeback
in Off-topic ·
I was watching some old highlights last night and started thinking about how much of a mental battle it is to bounce back after a total blowout.
We always talk about physical recovery—ice baths, rest days, nutrition—but nobody really touches on the psychological toll of being absolutely shelled in one game and then having to step back onto the mound just days later. If I had a job where I failed that spectacularly on a Tuesday, I don't think I'd have the guts to show up for my shift on Thursday.
It seems like the difference between a legend and just another player is often just the ability to ignore the last disaster and pretend it never happened. How do you guys handle that kind of mental reset after a major setback? Does anyone actually have a strategy, or do you just hope for the best?
