So, I am not entirely sure where to begin, though I suppose he hardly needs an introduction at all...
In my humble opinion, he was the greatest vocalist of all time, and it truly baffles me that such a legend doesn't have his own signature theme song.
He was born in 1942 in Portsmouth.
Sadly, he passed away last year at the age of 67....

Throughout a career spanning nearly five decades, he truly poured his heart and soul into everything he did.
Elf, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Heaven & Hell, and Dio are just a few of the bands that defined his legacy.
Honestly, I find it impossible to decide which era saw him shine the brightest.
The man who gave us the iconic "devil horns" left an indelible mark on the entire heavy metal genre.

From what I can tell, he was truly a class act—never one to let fame go to his head, always kept his feet firmly planted on the ground, and honestly, just one of the most genuine guys out there when it came to treating his fans with respect. A genuinely good man, through and through.

I am honestly at a loss for words—where does one even begin to comment? 😁 The man was simply a KING, an absolute icon, a true LEGEND!

This is truly another exceptional singer. There is such a natural resonance to his voice—it actually brings to mind Freddie Mercury for me. Much like the previous vocalist we discussed, he masters that perfect legato, pairing it with crystal-clear diction and a steady, organic energy. He manages his resonance so skillfully that he achieves a slight, subtle snarl without ever creating tension or resistance in his breathing. It’s quite evident how healthy his technique is, especially when you listen to how effortlessly he weaves in and out of those brief harmonic moments with the rest of the track, maintaining impeccable intonation throughout.

To put it simply, his legato is flawless, his diction is spot on, and his vocal technique is incredibly healthy.

Personally, he's one of my top three male vocalists... right up there with Dickinson and Halford.

In my book, he’s easily the greatest singer out there, right after Freddie Mercury.

Right after Ian Gillan, he’s an absolute legend!

Somewhere around the time "For Whom the Bell Tolls" finished playing, or maybe right after those third tracks on the album... I get this text message saying Dio passed away. Man... there wasn't any rain, no mud, nothing... just this sudden, heavy weight when I read about Roonn...

I have a massive appreciation for Rainbow, specifically the era when he was fronting them. I’m also a huge fan of the Heaven and Hell album by Black Sabbath. To be honest, his solo career doesn't do much for me. He was a great singer and incredibly charismatic—the kind of guy who didn't waste time with nonsense and just delivered on the record. From what I’ve seen in interviews and how he treated fans, he seemed like a straight shooter. It’s a shame he’s gone, but he left behind a serious legacy.

It’s a real shame he walked away from Rainbow to join Black Sabbath... Don't get me wrong, Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are stellar albums, but they just don't reach the heights of Rising or Long Live Rock 'n' Roll
After he left Black Sabbath, the whole thing just lost its spark 🙂 No more dragons, no more magic... Honestly, he should have stuck with Blackmore, regardless of how much of a difficult jerk he could be.

I mean, if you ask me, I suspect he just couldn't stand the fact that Blackmore was always the one calling the shots. 😉 Honestly, I feel like everyone seems to conveniently forget that without Blackmore, guys like Gillan, Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Joe Lynn Turner, and even Dio would have been absolutely nothing. It’s almost funny how people overlook that. He was essentially handing them these massive, legendary hits on a silver platter—material that practically demanded a world-class vocalist to bring it to life—and they just happened to be the right people standing in the right place at exactly the right time.

I mean, honestly, Blackmore is just a god. There’s really no other way to put it.

Not many people can brag about having recorded absolute classics with three different legendary bands.

Blackmore certainly knew his craft, but let's be real, he could be an incredibly selfish jerk from time to time.
Whether it was Rainbow, Elf, Black Sabbath, or Dio, he shone brightly, and because of his sheer talent, he remains legendary in every single lineup.😳

Dio would’ve absolutely killed it without Blackmore. Seriously, he had one of those rare, powerhouse vocals—that natural tone is just unmatched. Aside from Ian Gillan, he’s easily the best singer out there. As for Blackmore, the guy just brings drama and friction to every single band he joins. I mean, he actually once claimed he'd catch Ian Gillan in a dark alley and beat him with a stick. Look, the guy can shred, but his attitude? Zero.

Dio was just the perfect vocalist and an incredible human being we’ll never forget... RIP Dio!!!

I believe you've misinterpreted his statement. 😁 I believe his point was that Blackmore was the one who actually gave Dio his first real shot at proving himself. Everything after that is purely Dio's merit, but let’s be clear: the first step was taken by Blackmore when he invited him into the new band. The rest is history.

I am not referring to any specific statement. My point is simply that despite his immense talent, Blackmore could be quite an egoist at times, whereas Dio's talent was absolutely undeniable.

I have a rather curious story involving him. I’m not typically one to believe in these kinds of things—not even in this instance—but it was certainly an interesting moment. 😁 On the day 🤣 Dio passed away, I was sitting there listening to Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath when, out of nowhere, the lamp on my table started shaking. There wasn't an earthquake or anything else nearby that could have caused it, so I couldn't help but take it as some kind of sign. Though, looking back, I'm sure there’s a perfectly logical explanation for it. 😬
