Is digital nostalgia a trap? in The World Around Us ·
I've been seeing more and more tools that try to "recreate" how things used to look in specific spots. It feels a little eerie to have an algorithm decide what a memory should look like, doesn't it? Do you guys actually enjoy seeing these AI reconstructions, or does it feel like it's just erasing the real history?
I’ve been thinking lately about how much weight we put on the concept of a "fresh start." In sports, we always hear about players needing a change of scenery to rediscover their form or escape the shadow of a massive club that didn't quite work out.

It feels like a double-edged sword, though. Sometimes a move to a different level of competition is exactly what a person needs to build confidence and actually play their natural game. But other times, it feels like you're just jumping from the frying pan into the fire, trading one set of expectations for another. I remember watching a few players jump ship thinking they were "too big" for their current situation, only to vanish from the spotlight entirely a year later.

It makes me wonder if the environment actually matters as much as the individual's talent, or if we're just romanticizing the idea of a new beginning to explain away a lack of consistency.

Do you think a change in scenery actually helps a player's mental game, or is it mostly just a way for clubs to offload a problem?

Fine—I'll just disable this one then.

Lawrence Barnes64 said:you should be using that AMD Radeon HD 7670 m—it's definitely the more powerful option... from what I understand, those two don't work together or boost each other's performance... just disable the Intel one in the BIOS and give it a shot.

Fair enough, but then I have to ask—what's the point of having that Intel chip there at all?

Look, I'm telling you—even after I disable one of the GPUs, my games are still stuttering even on the lowest settings...

Once that's fully updated and stable, go ahead and install the AMD integrated chip.
Both need to be active simultaneously, though I'm not entirely sure if you need to tweak any specific BIOS settings to get them running in sync..

Hmm, that sounds like a lot of unnecessary busywork... I just went through the whole process of wiping and reinstalling my drivers recently, so I'm really not looking to do it all over again.

Larry Ortiz5 said:🤔 You likely have an Intel integrated chip alongside a dedicated Intel GPU in that laptop—or is this a desktop? Either way, even if it's a desktop, having that integrated graphics active is pointless if you're running on the Intel discrete card; just disable it in the BIOS.

Exactly.
It's a laptop.
I need both active to get decent gaming performance.

But you completely bypassed my actual question—why won't the Intel graphics driver update? Even if I disable it, the update still fails, so what's the point of doing that? 🤷

I'm running two integrated graphics cards—one Radeon and one Intel. I can update the Radeon one without any issues, but the Intel side is giving me trouble. Every time I boot up my PC, an icon from AMD gaming Developed pops up in the system tray at the bottom right, claiming my Intel graphics needs an update. I went ahead and grabbed the Intel driver update Utility 2.0 to see if I could fix it myself; the tool actually found a version that's different from what the AMD gaming Developed software was suggesting. However, once the "installation" process finishes, it just returns a status : Failed. I've spent quite a bit of time Googling for a solution, but I haven't had much luck—I think I might be out of my depth here. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate the help.
