The "he said, she said" trap in the legal system
in Criminal and Misdemeanor Law ·
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much weight a single accusation carries these days. It’s wild how quickly the court of public opinion moves before any actual evidence is even presented in a courtroom.
I remember a buddy of mine back in college who got caught up in a massive misunderstanding with campus security. Nothing actually happened, but the sheer weight of the "allegations" flying around made him a pariah for months. By the time things were cleared up, the damage to his reputation was already permanent. It really makes you wonder about the threshold for justice.
When things start getting murky and the stories don't line up, do you think our current system does enough to protect people from being ruined by a narrative, or is the risk of letting someone walk too high?
