I feel like every season there’s that one team where the back end just feels completely porous. You can have all the talent in the world, but if the communication isn't there, it's a nightmare to watch. Do you think cohesive chemistry is more important than raw athleticism in a defensive unit?

I was wondering if anyone knows whether it’s possible to just walk in there without a formal referral or anything like that—just to have a professional run some tests and determine if I'm actually dealing with dyslexia or if I simply haven't been the most attentive reader throughout my life.
Charles Harris9 said:I have some reservations about this approach... I actually own one of those speed reading books by Tony Buzan. He suggests that this kind of disorder can be mitigated through rapid reading techniques. Apparently, there are cases where individuals starting at a mere 100 words per minute managed to scale up to 700 wpm using his methods.
Lately, being in university, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to keep pace with the curriculum. There is simply an overwhelming volume of material to digest, and my slow reading speed makes it feel like an uphill battle.
I came across this resource online:🙂
==> SYMPTOMS OF ADULT DYSLEXIA
General symptoms:
- A noticeable gap between general cognitive abilities and linguistic skills,
- Fluctuating performance levels—experiencing both "good" and "bad" days,
confusion, and difficulty organizing daily schedules or leisure time,
- Weakened short-term working memory,
- Insufficient spatial and temporal precision (distinguishing left from right, east from west, etc.),
- Difficulty with sequencing (alphabetical order, months of the year, tables, instruction lists, birthdays, etc.),
- Issues with time perception or "losing track" of time,
- Trouble identifying rhymes,
- Difficulty grasping verbal humor,
- Challenges in conversation—requiring extra time to process information and find the right words,
- Difficulties coordinating space, time, and events,
- An inaccurate (often negative) self-image—feeling "lazy" or "inattentive." (According to Davis, Brown, 2001)

Did you pull that from a HUD website?
Does it mention any actual ways we might help ourselves?
I see myself in almost all of these descriptions. Interestingly, I consider myself a fairly capable speaker when I am fully focused, but once fatigue sets in, I become completely incapacitated. My primary struggles lie with reading and writing; I often find myself mixing up letters.
Oh, I’ve completely lost my train of thought on this thread... though I suppose you could argue that being forgetful is just another symptom of dyslexia (I’m joking, mostly)!
So, does absolutely nobody have any idea what’s going on here? Honestly, I can’t say I know much better myself... it’s a state of blissful ignorance, really.
So, I’ve just hit the thirty-year milestone, finished my undergraduate degree, and I'm currently grinding through my Master's. It was at this juncture that I finally decided to confront what might be a lifelong struggle with dyslexia.
I have spent my entire life wrestling with reading and writing; letters seem to dance around on the page, memorizing grammar rules feels like an uphill battle, and spelling is quite frankly my personal nightmare. When exhaustion sets in, I tend to jumble my words, and—if you'll excuse the bluntness—I end up speaking complete nonsense.
My intuition tells me I’m dealing with some mild form of dyslexia because, while I can maintain a semblance of "control" when I am intensely focused, the sheer mental tax required to do so is exhausting.
To be clear, I have never received an official diagnosis; this is simply a conclusion I have reached on my own. I suspect my mother might also deal with something similar, as she was diagnosed with a visual processing issue, which makes me wonder if that might be the root of my own struggles.
Does anyone happen to know which specialist I should consult to undergo a formal evaluation? Furthermore, is there any sort of specialized therapy available for adults? I recall reading somewhere that speed-reading courses might offer some relief...

Truly intriguing stuff... liver detoxification... does anyone happen to know where I might find more detailed information on this topic?
