Alonso, what a clown.
Just stay glued to Felipe, blah blah... man, just make a move yourself.

If you're coming from Niagara Falls, you'll be driving toward Boston.
Once you hit the E70 near Boston, follow that road onto the A4, and then take the a4-vorka all the way through to New York City.
Take this exit (here’s a photo for you):

Also, there are signs before the exit that will give you a heads-up.
After you pass Chicago, you're basically there... just a little more driving and you'll be at the exit. Of course, that depends on how bad the traffic is.
I know this route well, but if anyone has a better way to explain it, feel free to jump in.

If Fernando doesn't pull off a win here, he isn't going to see another one all season.

But then what’s the actual difference—is it just bandwidth? If I plug a PCIe 3.0 card into a 2.0 slot, does that mean I won't be getting 100% of its potential performance?

Both Mercedes cars were set up for rain—basically, they chose a configuration that would provide an advantage if the weather turned. More downforce, lower top speed.
It’s possible their low downforce setup just doesn't work because of the increased tire wear.

Meanwhile, the Red Bull was dialed in for high top speed and purely dry conditions.
That kind of Red Bull setup struggles when you need to follow another car, but it's lightning fast in clean air.

Everything lined up perfectly—and we saw the result yesterday.
Vettel was 1.4 seconds clear after the first lap; the Mercedes cars weren't even a threat on the Kemmel straight (not for Vettel or Alonso), while Webber was stuck fighting through traffic.

In my opinion, Vettel was essentially in seventh gear from the jump because he intended to hunt down Hamilton immediately—maybe right after turn one, before Eau Rouge, or right after the climb... which is exactly what happened.
I'd need to see the actual telemetry to be sure, but I highly doubt his car was set up for high top speeds.

I don't think they fixed anything. It’s just that Spa and Monza happen to suit them perfectly.
Personally, I've already given up on the championship title... it's easier that way. At least I won't be disappointed when we hit Singapore and Korea and start falling half a second behind per lap again.
Vettel's win... even though he fell behind Hamilton after the first lap, I honestly think he would've overtaken him again the moment he got DRS. McQueen just didn't have the pace today.
Thomas Long7 said:Honestly, this was one of the absolute worst races we've seen at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in recent years.😢

Agreed.
It was a lackluster race... hardly any overtakes before the final chicane, and just a lot of following closely through Daytona...
That move at Kemmel wasn't even a real overtake; it felt more like they were just going through the motions.

Schittner made the leap all the way to Team USA. That’s great news. Let him wave it high.
Let's go!!!!!
I’ve finally made it onto the scene!

Alonso spun on track and trashed his qualifying run...

And Massa was the first one out on track right behind Sebastian Vettel. It wasn't that he went out too late, he actually went out too early...

After Sebastian Vettel, it was Massa, then everyone else in a line. The real question is who stayed out and who made it back for that final timed lap, not whether someone exited the pits too late...

Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue anymore.
😳
stormybadger8 said:I mean, seriously? Ferrari was easily the fastest car on track all weekend whenever conditions got messy, only to completely fall off a cliff during Q3—and specifically when the weather was acting up...
FP1, Q1, even Q2...

And I honestly can't wrap my head around how they were sitting nearly 10 seconds behind Fernando Alonso in that first timed lap of Q3.😕
Did someone pull the plug on them, did they spin out, were the timers broken, or did some kid mess with the gear?

My take is that he was simply too close to Kimi Raikkonen during that first timed lap. I recall Martin Brundle mentioning something about that, though from where I was sitting, the distance looked fine—maybe about 5 or 6 seconds behind.
Then they messed up by leaving the pits way too late.
It doesn't make sense to me. If it's raining, it doesn't matter if you leave Box 4 or six minutes before the end of qualifying. The intermediate tires are more resilient and hold up better. You get out there, you drive, and you hope the rain lets up or you manage to squeeze out one extra lap.
stormybadger8 said:It’s obvious Ferrari has the fastest car on track right now, and honestly, Lotus is the only one even remotely close to them...
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz and Red Bull perfectly capitalized on those guys' sloppy pit strategy, timing their final lap in Q3 absolutely flawlessly...

Who knows what kind of chaos we'll see during the race🤷
Given these insane weather conditions, I wouldn't even be shocked if Jenson Button or Resta ended up leading after the first round of pit stops.🤣

Anyway, this race is bound to be absolute madness. If the Ferrari and Lotus drivers don't wreck each other out in the first lap, I fully expect them to be fighting for the win.
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes-Benz don't look particularly fast to me.🤷

You're forgetting that Red Bull was the fastest through all three practice sessions. It's hard to say for sure if Ferrari actually has the fastest car based just on that single lap on hard tires. You just can't tell yet.
And by the way, Sebastian Vettel clocked a 1:48.3 during the third practice session. That means Red Bull could definitely go faster than 1:48.3.
Good grief... I can't believe how much Ferrari can mess this up.
darkmarlin16 said:what in the hell kind of ridiculous haircut is that 😂

The guy dyed his hair. It looks terrible.
Jason Campbell70 said:Strategy. 🙄

Yeah, that was all about tactics. They stuck to the plan and pushed the pace, just hoping they'd find some better grip on the track.
Sebastian Vettel crossed the line just seven seconds behind the leader, but he wasn't giving up. He was fighting to shave off every possible millisecond, and it paid off—he actually clocked his fastest lap of the race during that final circuit.
If Fernando Alonso had just a little more time on his side, he might have snatched that final lap, but it just wasn't meant to be. Honestly, that's Red Bull for you—they’re exactly where they belong at the top.
Ferrari is a total disaster.
Instead of pushing the pace and squeezing out every possible lap, they’re just coasting around the track.
I honestly can't believe it... massive props to Red Bull for that tactical masterclass.
They absolutely earned those 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
Man, it’s always the same story. When Ferrari is flying on a dry track, that's exactly when the rain decides to show up.
I'm just glad Haas finally got their five minutes of fame... now they can just sit tight until 2014. I honestly wonder when we'll see both of them make it through to the Second Qualifying Session at the US Grand Prix again.
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes are really struggling to find their pace... I have to admit, seeing Red in the lead today feels surreal. It’s hard to believe my eyes.
