So, just a single file procession, total boredom, and a lot of yawning...
I’m all for a delay. This track just isn't meant for racing if the rain starts coming down hard. If we keep going, we're just looking at collisions and spins... and once that happens, we'll be stuck under a 15-minute red flag or dealing with a 15-minute SC. On a circuit like this, there's really nowhere to go to avoid a car that's already spun out.
Charles Leclerc absolutely crushed qualifying. It’s such a shame they had to cut it short; he was on pace for a lap that likely would have been even faster than his current lead.
Max Verstappen is fast, sure, but this season, Charles Leclerc is just on another level with this car. Right now, Max simply can't match him. I think it comes down to the fact that Leclerc has really dialed in his driving style to suit this chassis. It just clicks for him. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz is struggling to find that same rhythm. The word around the paddock is that Ferrari has built a car with great aero and power that offers solid drivability, provided you can nail the exit from the corners. That’s where Leclerc shines. He’s been phenomenal all season—from his ability to get great traction out of the turns to his precision on both the brakes and the throttle.
So, we’ve got Perez dealing with a gearbox change and a penalty, then Sainz getting flagged for ignoring the flags, and on top of all that, Max is facing his own issues. And yet, I still hear people claiming that Perez isn't exactly the ultimate teammate. 😁
There are definitely some exceptions to the rule. It seems like certain drivers just prefer a heavier car when they're navigating those tight street circuits. You saw it with Sebastian Vettel, Sergio Perez, and even Yuki Tsunoda, who almost snagged a spot in the top 10, all while his teammate struggled and dropped out immediately in Q1.
It’s honestly pretty rare to see laps coming in this fast during Q1. The grip just keeps building with every lap. As soon as I saw George Russell clocking a 12.7, I knew there was still plenty of room to improve.

It really comes down to how things play out on the track. Anything can happen, especially since Perez was pushing his own agenda following the race in Spain. 😁
