I neglected to mention that I tried swapping out the HDMI cable last night—no dice, same result. Also, if my memory serves me right, I actually updated the drivers a few weeks back via that Radeon software. At this point, my only remaining move is to test the monitor on a different PC.
Hmm... I’ve been browsing some other forums, and based on the screenshots people are posting, it shouldn't be a GPU issue in a case like this (fingers crossed). Thankfully, it's still under warranty.
I could use some help if anyone knows 🙂
Last night, my PC monitor started acting up—glitching out completely out of nowhere—despite everything running perfectly fine until that exact moment.
Here’s what it looks like when I snap a photo with my phone:

But here is the kicker—when I take a print screen and transfer the image to my laptop, it shows up looking like this:

Is it possible we're looking at a faulty cable, or is the monitor itself dying? The rig isn't ancient by any means—built back in December 2018.
It feels like a bit of a trek to send this thing all the way to New York City since I’m stuck out here in rural Pennsylvania—not exactly a quick trip. xD To be honest, I’m also a little unsure if the warranty even applies anymore; I picked up the laptop back in July 2016, and the receipt doesn't explicitly state the duration (I’m assuming it was just a year), plus I have a sneaking suspicion that this specific type of hardware failure isn't even covered. Regardless, what I really want to know is if anyone knows whether it's actually possible to swap out the graphics card—and if so, what kind of damage we're talking about to simply install the same model (GeForce GTX 960M).
Greetings.
I could use some advice 😁 regarding a recent mishap—my father spilled coffee all over my laptop (an Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition), and predictably, the keyboard is now acting up. It isn’t completely dead, but the upper left section is totally unresponsive while the rest seems fine. I took it to a local repair tech who estimated a keyboard replacement would run me about $333. Honestly, that wouldn't be the end of the world since the machine is relatively new—only about a year old. My tech friend returned it over the weekend, claiming there might be a slim chance the keyboard survives as is. However, I have a nagging suspicion that the graphics card might have taken a hit too; the system seems to have defaulted to integrated graphics, as games that used to run smoothly at 120 FPS (Dota and Fortnite) are now capped at a dismal 30. Is it actually possible for the system to automatically switch to integrated graphics if the dedicated one fails? And if my GeForce GTX 960M is indeed fried, what kind of damage am I looking at if I wanted to swap out the GPU? Is such a repair even feasible, or is it one of those situations where it's more logical to just cut my losses and buy a new laptop?
But I honestly don't get how the laptop is even staying powered on—X. It’s physically impossible for both the battery and the charger to be dead while the machine is still running.
Is there any chance—say, I don't know—that a massive buildup of dust could be causing this? I haven't had the thing professionally cleaned in over a year—maybe a little longer, actually.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
The charger itself is still doing its job, though—it’s just that the LED indicator decided to quit on me today. To be precise, the light flickers on for maybe a second or two, and then, as soon as I boot up the laptop, the light goes dead while the machine keeps running just fine.
Greetings.
I have a Dell Latitude 3000 series, and about a month or two ago, the battery decided to give up the ghost—it actually started swelling. I went ahead and disconnected the charger cable from the laptop, but once I powered it back up, I noticed it stopped charging entirely. Initially, the battery indicator light would turn white for a few seconds before switching to orange; since then, the machine only runs when it's plugged into the wall. However, today the laptop shut itself down several times, and now—get this—even that indicator light won't even turn on anymore. What on earth am I looking at here??
The laptop still boots up fine... which is why I'm so confused—I was honestly hoping the charger was the thing that had simply gone to hell this time.
