Advice for buying a gaming PC! in Desktops ·
Drew Sanchez82 said:It shouldn't be an issue at all to toss another 4 GB into that TNGov rig. 😁

Exactly. My MSI has three years of warranty left.
I'm honestly thinking my next upgrade will be MSI too!

Is there actually a noticeable difference in gaming when you jump from 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM!?

So, I guess Mclovin's setup works better for me! Hahaha

Thanks, everyone! 🙂

Mclovin has 8GB of RAM, while Timothy60 only has 4GB, so he's really pushing me to buy from him instead. What are your thoughts?

So, was it actually any good?

Exactly... I almost fell for that exact same thing myself! 😉

If you're looking to squeeze every cent out of your budget and get fully set up for upcoming games without needing any more upgrades, this is the route I'd take:

X4 910E
ASUS M5A78L-M LX3
KINGSTON 8GB 1600 MHZ
TOSHIBA 3.5" 500 GB SATA 3
MSI R7 260X 2GB OC DDR5
FORTRON HEXA+ 400W 80+
MS PHOENIX + 80 MM FAN

= $1033 - Micro Center (includes assembly and delivery).

This one looks pretty solid to me, even if the processor is a little weak. What do you guys think?

Larry Ortiz5 said:You can find ADM over by Jordanovac. As for Centro.hr, it's right on Savannah Avenue—just take a left where Baschiera is located. 😁

Haha, oh I know, I know! 😂

fadedorca66 said:Not a single one.

In the first option, you get a junk motherboard, a weak GPU, and a trash power supply.
The second option has a mediocre motherboard and graphics card.
As for the third, everything is just a complete disaster.😁

Now I totally get it. My buddy bought a PC for $1333 (gaming), but there isn't a single gaming bone in it! It barely runs MW3 on medium settings, and Most Wanted 2012 is lagging even on the lowest settings.🙂

Come on, man! Don't just sit there acting like you can't hear a thing—we’re seeing each other in two months! HAHAHAHAH🙂

Do some digging, sharpen those skills, and keep an eye on market trends... stay in the loop!

Well, obviously I want it, you idiot!

I’ll be back in about two months! HAHAHAHAH 🙂

Larry Ortiz5 said:Prices fluctuate all over the place. You might find a CPU a few bucks cheaper at Micro Center, but then the motherboard ends up costing more. Honestly, your best bet is just grabbing everything from one shop. I’ve always found ADM to be one of the most reliable spots; I've never had an issue with them, and the staff is incredibly fair and straightforward.

Thanks! 😉

Where can I find the best deals among those shops?

By the way, where are you headed? To Chicago? Just coordinate with the shop! Give them a heads-up a day or two before you head out, then just swing by and grab it when you arrive. It's the exact same deal—you just need to let them know at least a day ahead so they can put it together. Serious shops with stock on hand will have it ready the same day or by tomorrow, and if you're looking for delivery, it usually arrives within two days unless it's the weekend.

Lanište . Can I just go to the Instar over by the Arena? That's closest to me..

crimsonstag84 said:Around Christmas 🤣

Just reach out a few days before you buy. It makes no sense to build anything right now since new GPUs and the latest Intel processors are about to drop, so prices and stock will be all over the place in the meantime.

Honestly, I have zero interest in buying the newest CPUs or GPUs from $1667.

Adam Moore3 said:I mean, come on! You really think a level 10 gt would fit into a tiny 3cm clearance? 😬 It doesn't even matter if it's a Phoenix at 100 or a Sirius at 140, or whatever. As long as it pushes over $67 to the Zalman, why bother saving pennies on the GPU? It makes zero sense, right? 😉

The Phenom is definitely weaker than these Athlonacs. The clock speed is just too low, whereas you can actually get a decent boost by overclocking an Athlonac. I'm not sure—if there's more investment coming for this rig later, go with your plan. But if you want peak performance right this second, my suggestion is the winner! 🙂

I'm not thinking about upgrades yet—maybe in two years... Right now, I'm just stuck deciding which one to pick since you guys gave me 10 different options! 😁..

Drew Sanchez82 said:If you have a budget of $1000, my buddies here can put together something much more solid for you. Just let me know—are you paying by card or cash? Are you based in Washington, D.C.?

I'll be using a card from Canada. I'm actually from Dalmatia, but I'll be traveling up north around Christmas, which is when I was planning to pick it up. That’s why I was really pushing for a pre-built PC.
