That’s what I’ve got in my laptop—and honestly, it’s strictly for work
my desktop is just this ancient relic with four cores at 2.66GHz
so yeah, the upgrade is definitely going to be an improvement 🙂
I was actually thinking about that first 14nm Broadwell
even though, looking at the specs, the chip is already 3 or 4 years old with all those various fixes
(being only the second nm process) I’m guessing it’ll run incredibly cool
and won't pull much power, while still giving me a nice boost over this mediocre Haswell chip
(I've got an early i3, a late-gen i5, and a newer i5 in my laptops—the difference is maybe 20% at most between the i3 and the i5h)
then I can finally let my current PC CPU retire 🙂
We’ve all seen this headline floating around,
some people claim Intel just doesn't have any real competition—so they're basically dragging their feet with these 14nm chips indefinitely
while others argue they're actually hitting major production snags...
The current rumor mill says we might see something before the big holiday shopping season—maybe by late spring at the latest—but who knows??
Does anyone have more intel on this??
