I loved this movie during my early years as a cinephile, maybe 15-20 years ago. I finally revisited it after seeing almost all of Scorsese's hits and classics.
I’ve always been drawn to films of this caliber...
Think along the lines of Naked Lunch, Lynch movies, Donnie Darko, or Jacob's Ladder... everything sitting right on that edge between being overly thematic and completely nonsensical.
Nightmare cinema. Dream-like, with stunning visuals and atmosphere. 👍
The specific details have slipped my mind, but the memory of the film's atmosphere and its brilliant ideas remains.

The film is pointless and nothing special, but it’s fine. Watchable, almost even fun. There is just such a massive mountain of unwatchable cinematic garbage from the last 20 years that everyone swallows without question... including those Marvel disasters... it honestly irritates me how people here are talking out of their asses claiming this movie is incredibly hard to sit through and complete crap... 🙄

This movie felt weird to me, but honestly, it wasn't even that boring.
It was more silly and annoying in certain spots, though fun if you just tune out some of the nonsense.
Take Parasite, for example. I started watching it once and just gave up. I had this feeling like I already knew exactly what the whole movie was going to be, right down to the tone. I hate that feeling. I get restless and lose my patience when I can see it coming.😁
With Everything Everywhere All at Once, at least things aren't that predictable. You're actually curious to see what kind of absurdity they'll pull next.
As for those American movies obsessed with class struggle and social divides, they don't have much left to throw at you besides that tired old trope... 100% recycled ideas 🕺that might fly over there, but in the US, we've seen these cliches a thousand times before.

I watched Santa Sangre a long time ago, maybe twenty years back, when I was just some young cinephile.
It was entertaining and stuck with me. That’s about it. Just nakaradan and silly.
Maybe I'll give Holy Mountain a watch sometime.
Just a mess of random symbols and nonsense.
Perhaps Holy Mountain is more elemental and actually better—less goofy and chaotic. Who knows, maybe I'd actually like it..
