Picked up some Solar Haze from the new round to check it out... I'm diving deep into the craft scene, which has absolutely exploded compared to just five or six years ago.

Brace yourself, man. I'm raising my glass to the heavens. 😁

You march out with a million people in some "massive counteroffensive" against a massive nuclear superpower, yet you don't even have a single measly, weak, grey tactical nuke in your arsenal?

Are these people joking? Is this some kind of joke?

Mr. Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music

I spent ages digging into this years ago. Mr. Ishkur is an absolute legend.

I haven't touched this guide in decades, but looking at it now, the man is a maniac. He’s kept building it out with genres and subgenres from the 2000s and 2010s.

Go ahead and click through it, but consider this a warning: one innocent click and you're sucked into a time warp. You'll blink and realize several nights and a few days have just vanished into thin air. 😁

The real bonus is his writing. Every description is hilarious, informative, personal, and feels like true insider knowledge. The guy is incredibly sharp. It feels like the golden age of the early internet—back when you actually read stuff written by witty, highly educated authors.

Nowadays, people just scroll through mindless, soul-crushing garbage on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or TikTok.

edit: currently diving headfirst into a sea of trance and psychedelic genres... darkpsy specifically... pure madness. 👍

I’ve always had a soft spot for this track, and now it feels even more relevant. It’s got that Cold War vibe... spy games behind the curtain... pure pro-Soviet sentiment... 😁 one big nuclear threat.

They hit us with nukes; we hit them back with sentiment and guns... 🤣

edit: combining this song with Bowie’s famous Warsaw captures that hopeless, gray Cold War feeling perfectly. The 70s, the 80s...

Except Bowie’s stuff sounds dark, monumental, and post-apocalyptic... totally devoid of hope. But that’s because he was coming off a high, wandering right along the edge of the Iron Curtain... inside and out...

That concept shows up in the last Matrix movie, and now I’m watching Fincher’s Gamma... it’s the exact same thing there.

Continuing the Iceland series... specifically with the recent work from Guðmundur's daughter. 😁

Those Northern people don't truly live unless they are pushing extreme artistic boundaries. They aren't happy without it. 😁

Björk - The Gate

I love Björk because she knows exactly how to craft a moment like this in a song...

It’s just aggressive. In your face. You wanted art? Here it is—art from thirty years in the future. 😁
She’s always done this. Since the early 90s, she pulls music from decades ahead of its time and drops it right when she decides the world is ready for it. 😁

I couldn't resist dropping a Barib-style post here. 😁

I listened to that unfortunate Heptapod B track so many times during the year Arrival came out that I actually started hating it. 😁

But this soundtrack is just as insane:

I don't know what you're trying to say. Get to the point. said:image

Thanks... I really loved his work on the Arrival soundtrack - First Encounter. I had no idea he was such a powerhouse across the board.

I see on Wikipedia that she has a daughter named Karolina Jóhannsdóttir.
It was him, unfortunately—Johnson. Sadly, and that’s because he died, not because of the name.
I don't get how people tell anyone apart in Iceland. If there’s a massive amount of Johns, then half the population must be Johannsdóttir or Johnson. It's ridiculous. 😁 😵
Or maybe like Björk... Guðmundsdóttir. Something like that. Boom! 😁

I’m a bigot. Their language just gives me visions of a Viking driving an axe straight into my forehead. 😁

Correction: He died from a coke overdose, he wasn't killed. Dammit. Drugs. 🙄
