Cycling coverage in American media in Cycling ·
Look, if you actually have a vision for how to change things—if you truly know what the endgame looks like and what steps it takes to get there—then instead of just spinning your wheels and shouting into the void, why don't you actually *do* something about it? Instead of assuming you know what everyone else is thinking and trying to force your own personal manifesto onto them—basically projecting your internal monologue onto the rest of us—you should probably take some real action.

For example, let's say I read about some "Railroad Association." I could spend my entire life sending endless emails to them complaining that a ticket to some tiny town is way too expensive. But here’s the thing: that association might not even have the authority or the capacity to mess with ticket prices. Their whole purpose might be gathering small unions together to gain leverage in collective bargaining agreements (okay, I'm making that part up just to make a point, don't hold me to it, but you get the gist). I can sit here and get pissed off at them about pricing all day, but really, the whole mess started with me—my own assumptions and my own idea of how things "should" work.

When someone actually has an idea, they find like-minded people, get organized, and make sure they get enough media coverage to actually matter. So, what exactly is stopping you from doing the exact same thing? If you don't know how, you could join a union, volunteer your time, build up some actual credibility, and *then* take charge of all this stuff you're preaching about. That way, you can actually turn your visions into reality—assuming, of course, that your goals align with what the cyclist union is actually trying to achieve, because you're stepping into a world that already functions quite well without your permission.

It’s obvious you feel a massive need to spread your "knowledge," and man, you have endless energy for repeating the same points over and over on this forum. I guess you think you're doing us a favor by trying to pass your ideas on to as many people as possible... which is fine, I suppose, but try doing it with a little less malice. Right now, you just come across like someone who wants to pick a fight with everyone just to force people to lock their bikes exactly the way you decided is best. My suggestion? Go down to the cyclist union. They're decent people who actually enjoy socializing (I know a few folks involved, so I'm telling you). Go talk to them, pitch your ideas, commit to actually doing the work, and then go full throttle... (to be honest, I don't know exactly how their inner workings function since I'm not part of the union, but I'd bet it works something like that).
