Cycling coverage in American media in Cycling ·
Andrew Miller102 says:
Well, I suppose it’s finally my turn to weigh in,😁 and honestly, I almost forgot about this thread entirely, though it’s never too late to join the conversation.First off, let’s address the core issue here, because what you’re calling just talking in circles, is actually what most people would simply call offering criticism to someone or something in the public media. It feels a little bit like you’re acting as an overly zealous defense attorney for Vladimir, who, if I may say so, can probably hold his own without the help. The conclusion is pretty straightforward: anyone stepping out in front of an American TV camera has to be prepared to face some scrutiny. If they can't handle a bit of pushback, they probably shouldn't be seeking the spotlight in the media—or better yet, they should probably brush up on their basic facts before they ever step in front of a lens. Spreading half-baked or flat-out wrong advice through the news doesn't really serve anyone, but unfortunately, that seems to be a pretty common practice here in America.

I don't have any interest in joining any special interest groups or unions myself, as I have plenty of other things going on in my life. Specifically, I couldn't care less about being part of a bicycle union, as I already mentioned, they are essentially useless, which seems pretty obvious to any sensible person. But hey, we learn from our mistakes, right? If certain folks in a bicycle union don't even know how to properly use a U-Lock, they ought to go look up the basics online.I’ll say it again just to be clear: there is absolutely no reason why a member of a cycling organization wouldn't know the single most important way to secure a bike with a U-Lock. It’s a complete absurdity, kind of like a car owner not knowing where to pour the windshield wiper fluid.

Now, if you think I’m writing this with malice,😵 or that I’m actually trying to pick a fight or even scuffle with people over bike security, you've got me all wrong. It seems like you might not have any clue about how the media works, or perhaps you haven't heard of targeted consulting or marketing. Without a little bit of assertiveness, you won't get anything done, but that has nothing to do with actual physical aggression. You're mixing up apples and oranges here, because I am simply constantly repeating well-established facts b>and rules regarding locking up a bike. In the same vein, I share my critiques, because bad practices and faulty advice in the media should be vigorously challenged rather than being politely swept under the rug.

Since we live in such a wacky part of America, it’s probably not surprising that I come across as a bit of an oddball to some people. If the American police uninformed cyclists suggest using simple cable locks, then who am I to be this strange, annoying U-Lock enthusiast for everyone else's benefit?🙂

By the way, if you happen to know the difference between various English spellings and grammar rules, please try to use them correctly, as it gets a bit distracting to read text with so many errors.

And it's "clue," not "clew," so that's how it's spelled and said: you have no "clue."
If you were still in fifth grade, you'd probably be working on improving your spelling grade.
