2016 Monaco Grand Prix Discussion Thread in Formula 1 ·
analogpilot16 said:Bravo Lewis Hamilton, just a fourth title for you... truly impressive.

Between him and Justin Bieber, they'll probably be drilling holes through half of Monaco tonight... 🙂 🤣

The Safety Car at the start was a disaster. F1 is going downhill.

Daniel Ricciardo, whom some people worship like he's some kind of god, raises his hand immediately after the first duel with Lewis Hamilton. Waving, complaining, whining... what a driver.
Just fight, man. Drive. Race. Instead, it's instant whining and hand gestures. It's pathetic.

You can hate Lewis Hamilton all you want, but the guy is a racer. Meanwhile, everyone wants to stop every single duel to run calculations and debates about who is at fault, why they are at fault, or whatever else...
Lewis Hamilton cut the chicane, sure, but he didn't gain anything because Daniel Ricciardo was right there trying to attack, and Lewis simply defended. Move on. Just race, Daniel Ricciardo! But no, he waves his hand and cries that everyone ruined his race...🙂
And then the stewards announce they're reviewing the situation. Seriously, where did the spirit of honest racing go? They investigate every little thing to see if someone deserves a penalty.
F1 is becoming a joke. The word "racing" is losing its actual meaning.

#3 dominated the weekend and his team basically handed him a deserved win. If the roles were reversed, he’d likely be getting penalized for defending a corner like that, but instead, nothing happens. Classic Lewis Hamilton move.

#3

And then just the day before, he’s already announcing he's taking pole position. Real smooth, genius... 🙏
It seems like the fame finally got to Max Verstappen after all. I really thought he was immune to it, but given how much everyone has been feeding his ego lately, I guess it was inevitable. It’s giving me major Daniil Kvyat vibes—you know, that whole "the second season is always a massive reality check" thing...

Let's go, Daniel Ricciardo 👍

When is Ferrari showing up in Canada... With a more powerful engine... He’s going to eat both Mercedes drivers alive on this track... 🍿

🤔

Jason Campbell70 said:Lewis Hamilton doesn't even bother looking at the competition on track... he just senses the state of his car... It might be wise to pit. I could run into some issues with my tires... Vettel might catch me off guard on those supersofts right after the restart.

The crew on the pit wall—sitting there staring at a dozen monitors packed with every microscopic detail, live track updates, and driver gaps measured down to the thousandth of a second... Pit stop for tires, and you'll be back in the lead...

Here's how it plays out: Lewis Hamilton hits the pits, and rolls out in third...

It’s all on him...
The crew on the pit wall...
b) the crew on the pit wall...
The crew on the pit wall...
All of the above...

Everything else is just pure nonsense and the whining of some young hater...

Look, trolling is a perfectly legitimate way to debate...
And yet, I can't help but feel that some people here are taking themselves far too seriously...

This wouldn't even fly for a rookie... though I doubt Sainz or Verstappen would have even bothered pitting in the first place. Let alone for someone with actual experience... Ninth. Driving an F1 car through Monte Carlo is one thing, but knowing that a single botched pit stop can completely derail your entire race is another level entirely...

What a joke. Even Bog forgot about Formula 1 a long time ago, otherwise this rain would actually mean something. Though I'm not sure who even thrives in the wet, from those guys stuck in the suburbs to most of the grid...

It’s a shame Max isn't making a move, because now there’s nothing to talk about until the next race. It looks like Ferrari's upgrade was a dud, so we're back to Mercedes just pretending there's some internal "rivalry" to keep 2015 somewhat interesting. At least until Red Bull Racing returns, which shouldn't be until 2017...

Kudos to Jenson Button, whom they tried to force into retirement six months ago. Daniil Kvyat has woken up, and Carlos Sainz would be even better without the penalties; the kid is talented. Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso? Retired...

The show must go on.

Robert Cox46 said:Ferrari is less than 5 seconds behind Max in a clean race without SCa.
They’ve made the most significant progress of any team on the grid.

Last year, Max would have built that gap within the first few laps...

Kimi + Allison. Again.

I distinctly remember last season at Spa when Allison was asked if it was even possible to build a car that would suit both Alonso and Kimi. His response? "Of course, that is our goal; we are listening to both drivers and will find the best possible combination." We all know who didn't want to be part of that. Who would he cooperate with after five masterful cars? Why bother trying to build something new with a team where you can only count on being part of the fastest lineup... That's why he doesn't deserve to be a Ferrari champion.

How on earth are they planning to sideline Lewis Hamilton 🤣
...
What a race, compared to that total snooze fest in Melbourne.

A German-Italian duo after nearly a decade... 🙏 honestly, I’ve got chills.

James Allison 🙏
In today's interview, you could tell he's just waiting for Kimi Räikkönen to take the win; he clearly hasn't moved on from last season yet.
