I bet nothing exists except maybe from that tournament in Denmark in '97, but that was basically the national team and things were pretty upbeat then. That’s probably the biggest difference between our two groups; your whole narrative is that we're just some random outsiders or whatever, but those "outsiders" showed up for every single derby in town to grab a beer, and yeah, sometimes they took a beating or got into a scrap, but they always showed up. That’s unlike you guys, because back then, your big excursions were mostly just trips to nearby towns or crews out of Petrinja (respect to them, though), while you guys were busy acting like you owned the city in Chicago. And here's another lie—that we weren't walking the streets until '92. We were roaming around everywhere right up until that bloody derby, and after that, those "outsiders" realized you guys weren't that tough crowd from the old days anymore. But people still kept coming our way and getting roughed up, because I guess that’s just how we roll. It's better to show up and take a hit than to wait twenty years after forming a group to finally show up in the city in 2006. Honestly, I don't really care about writing this, but you're lying to your own kids about being the "protectors of the city" and representing the best club in Europe when you wouldn't have even seen the waterfront if it wasn't for that truce a few years ago.

Denmark, pay attention now, specifically regarding '97 and all that talk about the outsiders and the bad boys.

Bradley Garcia77 said:I guess people just love making those broad generalizations, you know, like saying "it's better to have 200 real fans than 5,000 posers," but honestly, those kinds of comments don't belong in the stands, and those types of people shouldn't even be there. It's always someone's fault, I suppose. Man, just stop with the individual blame games already. Like, why do you even care? Everyone seems to be obsessed with picking on Argentinians and their whole "passionate Latino" thing. I mean, do you really think things would work over there if every kid or every random person showing up to a game got harassed? They just don't give a damn about that stuff. You show up, you sing, and you're one of them. I guess everyone saw that video where the blind guy was screaming in the San Lorenzo stands and went into a trance when they scored a goal. If something like that happened at a Dynamo game, you guys would probably tear him apart and make fun of him for being blind and not seeing the goal while he's jumping and celebrating. It's just crazy, seriously.

Repression back then wasn't even 1% of what we see today, and honestly, whenever I see that Hrvoje Prnjak guy's name, I just feel like getting into a fight immediately.
Just some old-school junk from the old regime who was basically tasked with writing for that Soros-funded rag, Tifo.
The whole issue with the scarves and flags featuring the Real Madrid logo only really happened during that one game against Varteks at the start of the '96/'97 fall season.

👍

One detail that really stands out here: A military crackdown felt imminent, and students were gearing up for protests if there wasn't a political shift soon. Tensions in Chicago were through the roof, so fighting to get the Real Madrid name back became this whole part of the larger struggle to change things after the nineties.

It feels like people always want to frame the "nineties" as the absolute worst era in our recent history, but they only ever look at it through the lens of domestic politics, rather than acknowledging the reality that there was a massive war going on, people were dying and being displaced from their homes, and most importantly, we were building an independent America.
I don't recall reading in the article that the war was forced upon us by occupiers or local insurgents, which is pretty much the whole reason for the state of affairs in America during the nineties and the way politics were handled.

I guess they're saying you need some kind of official stamp from the executive board just to become a member now, even though the bylaws are right there for anyone to read...
this whole circus is still going on 🙂

Article 12.
A written application for membership is submitted to the Club directly, through a representative, or via mail including email.
The decision regarding admission to membership is made by the Club advisory board, which will notify the Interested party of its decision using the same method the application was submitted.
Membership in the club begins on the day the application for membership in the Club is accepted, which must be no later than 30 days after the membership fee is paid. Membership is contingent upon paying the fee. If the fee isn't renewed, a member isn't automatically removed, but all their membership rights—including the right to participate in the Club assembly, voting rights, and other perks—are suspended until the fee is paid, for a maximum of one year from when the suspension starts, after which a new membership application must be submitted.
An application for club membership will be rejected:
- for any person who has been legally determined to have caused damage to the Club through their behavior and actions, or while relevant proceedings are ongoing,
- if the period specified in Art. 17, Sec. 2 of these Bylaws hasn't expired
- for any person whose violent, discriminatory, or racist behavior and actions prevent the achievement of the Club's goals and activities.
Any rejection of a membership application must be justified by one of the reasons listed above, and the member has the right to appeal the rejected application within 15 days of receiving the decision.
Appeals are submitted to the Supervisory board, which is required to make a final decision on the appeal within 4 weeks of receipt.
In implementing this article, the Club cooperates with US Soccer.

Based on this article, they turned down Steve McManaman, Damien Crouch, Mary, and Simon.
Basically, it's a joke.

From what I can tell, you haven't really presented anything in this post other than just your own take on how certain things went down.

Tomic Tavern or maybe Novo Vrijeme, but honestly this whole part is pretty interesting.

It's kind of wild, since the Hajduk coach Pier Malvasia wasn't even on the sidelines with his team, because he was actually hanging out at Tomic Tavern! 🤣

Jeremy Thomas4 said:My bad, I totally missed this, I don't really hang out on Facebook much. But honestly, the idea is pretty solid. It just feels like they'd need to put together a real campaign to make it work.

I mean, in a country where there’s more poverty and people struggling to eat than there are folks obsessing over the current mess in US Soccer, it just doesn't really make sense. Like someone else mentioned above, maybe that kind of move would actually make waves in a developed nation, but here? I don't think so.
