It’s not like I’m uncomfortable or anything, but I’m definitely not having a blast either. Just lying here on my desk—legs kicked up in the air—trying to occupy my brain with the absolute dumbest thoughts possible. Like, what am I grabbing for dinner? Or what the hell do I actually need to clean 😁
I'm officially entering my misanthrope era in Psychology ·
Amy Scott93 said:Honestly, I’d love to just bundle my asexuality together with my upcoming descent into misanthropy🙂. Sex is constantly running through my head, so I actually find myself kind of envying asexual people. For what it's worth, I live with an asexual woman who, unlike me, loves people with the intensity of Mother Teresa. And now they say opposites don't attract.
This is easily my favorite time of year. Work has slowed down to a crawl, so I’m basically alone in my 400-square-foot office. New York City is a ghost town; you can walk down the street without bumping into a single soul. Even finding parking in those free zones is a breeze. It’s heaven.
Just as everyone else starts trickling back from their summer vacations, I’ll be heading off to my own little "island" for a month to play hermit. I'll be out there digging up tomatoes and potatoes, maybe catch some tuna, or just pull a few fish out of the water. I won't have to say "thank you" to Jesus to anyone. Pure bliss. Who says life can't be great?

That was basically my game plan this year too—heading out to the middle of nowhere late August/early September:
1/ dodging everyone in NYC (friends, coworkers, just people in general)
2/ avoiding the crowds at the coast (whether it's family houses or just packed beaches and boardwalks)

If the weather holds up, I couldn't be happier 🙂

I’m definitely not asexual. I mean, I can still expect things to happen 😂
silverbison62, yeah, I honestly think being an only child plays a huge part—spending your whole childhood alone at home just teaches you how to entertain yourself.
I was low-key terrified when I moved in with my boyfriend—like, how am I gonna deal with this guy 24/7? But hey, it actually turned out fine.
There’s also this other thing that drives me crazy about people—hyperactivity. I just don't get it. I have a few friends who can't wrap their heads around how I can just sit there staring into space for hours. For them, if they aren't doing something every 30 minutes, their entire day is ruined because they're bored 😲

Jamie Davis9 said:Well, I suppose I’m officially joining the club. People have this exhausting way of wearing me down and getting on my nerves—even those closest to me eventually—so I find myself at my absolute happiest when I'm flying solo. It happens more often than you'd think ( 😁 ) where I just won't bother opening the front door, I'll let the phone ring indefinitely, and I won't venture any further than the local Target.
My career requires me to be constantly talking and managing others, which I don't mind, but once I'm home, my house is my sanctuary of peace, solitude, and total autonomy.
I don't even invite people over for visits. 😁
My family tells me that being this neurodivergent isn't healthy, but honestly, I fail to see the problem. I'm perfectly content. When I feel like being social, I am, but most of the time, I have zero desire to see a soul.
It's as simple as that.

😍
Same here. Total mood.
My boyfriend is the exact same way, too. So basically, we both just want to flake on everything and head out to Maui instead. 😉

Right now, I’m trying to convince myself this is just a phase—(I'm an expert at 😉self-delusion, don't ask)—but reading you two, it feels like it's way more than that.
I remember reading some old Dean Koontz book ages ago about people slowly turning into the things they love most because of some weird virus.
In one story, people started merging with computers—total sci-fi vibes—wires sprouting from their fingers until they were hardwired directly into the machines 😁 yeah, I totally saw myself in that 😢
Now I'm coming off as super antisocial. But honestly, anyone who actually knows me would tell you I'm usually the friendly, chatty type. It's just that my forehead doesn't have a screen showing what I'm thinking.

The funniest part is when my buddies ask why I’m always glued to my PC—as if they wouldn't rather just "hang out in person" 🤣 as if! 😍
Question: where does this all end up long-term?
I'm officially entering my misanthrope era in Psychology ·
So what’s the deal with being a misanthrope diagnosis 😲??!? 🤷
I just can't stomach listening to people's mindless chatter—the idiots I'm stuck around
. Look, it's not like my own stories are some groundbreaking masterpiece or anything, but I actually try to be decent—if I see someone tuning out my rambling, I shut up . But honestly? I'm done. I seriously cannot deal with any more bullshit about "tough guys" or endless drama at work or home. It never ends, and I'm starting to feel like a damn therapist 😠

Ugh, tell me about it. 🎉 People have become such a massive drag lately—I honestly can't even deal with talking to them anymore. As for family? That’s actually the least of my problems, but man, with most of my friends, I’m basically just performing social niceties at this point. They’ll be rambling on about something, and I’ll just nod and pretend to "listen," while internally I'm thinking about how much I couldn't care less what they're saying—just praying it doesn't show on my face.
Hey, Amy Scott93, how old are you anyway? When did this whole thing start for you?
Started around 25, and honestly, it just gets worse every single day. 🤷
How to perform a proper breast self-exam? in Women's Health ·
Honestly, you can get just about anything done if you’ve got the cash or the right connections 😛
A friend of mine who's an OB-GYN offered to do a breast exam for me—something my actual doctor never even brought up.
So now I'm just waiting for my period to start, then I'll try doing a self-exam once it's over (supposedly you're meant to do it during the first few days of your cycle).
How to perform a proper breast self-exam? in Women's Health ·
hey ladies 🙂
quick question—do you guys actually do regular breast self-exams?
I've had a few doctors walk me through the process, and I spend way too much time scrolling through sites like http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/breast-cancer/in-depth/breast-self-exam/art-20044124, but honestly? I still can't tell if everything feels "normal" or not.
My breasts change texture so much depending on where I am in my cycle—at least that's how it feels under my fingers—so there are always these "weird" lumps popping up. And I put "weird" in quotes because maybe it's all just in my head, but the whole concept of this famous "self-exam" thing sounds like straight-up science fiction to me. 🤷
So, yeah, I want to hear from you. Do you actually do it? How often? Any tips on the easiest way to check, or what's actually considered normal versus when you should actually freak out?
ironrider20, did you just suddenly decide to go for the baby, or was it more of a "life happened" situation?
good luck 👍
Matthew Castillo5 said:The thing is, people who actually have a diagnosis are usually at least somewhat self-aware enough to realize they might struggle to be adequate parents. The real nightmare scenario is the people who don't have a diagnosis—because they can't even admit to themselves that something is wrong. They spend their entire lives tearing down everything around them, and unfortunately, their kids are usually the primary targets.😠 👎

If we’re going by that logic, then possessive people shouldn't have kids either (I know plenty of suffocating parents in my own neighborhood). And what about ambivalent people? That could absolutely wreck a kid's mental health too. Or selfish people. Where does it end?
How is anyone supposed to know if they're mentally "unfit" if they haven't sat down with a doctor for a formal evaluation and a diagnosis?
So what's next? Mandatory psych testing before IVF? A government permit to have children?
I totally feel you 👍 I’m in basically the same boat—living with my guy, we've been together forever and I’m planning on spending the rest of my life with him... well, at least that’s the plan today, who knows what tomorrow brings? I’m around thirty, so it’s crystal clear that if I want kids, the clock is ticking. But I just can't force myself to get pregnant, overhaul my entire lifestyle, worry about a tiny human (will I even know what I'm doing?), or lose all my "me time" and "us time." I can't picture being pregnant, I can't picture breastfeeding... yeah, the list goes on.
But I've finally realized you just have to dive in headfirst—without overthinking the future (assuming you’re honest with yourself about wanting kids eventually). So, I've decided to spend the next year really putting in the work 😍 no matter how much it scares the hell out of me.
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
man, I've been lurking on this thread for a month now 😵 (yeah, yeah, I know—you're probably gonna call me an idiot, but honestly? This topic is actually pretty gripping, despite all the nonsense it drags in). Since I missed the last six freaking pages, I haven't even kept track of what your handle is anymore.
Bottom line: thumbs up 👍 you’re clearly sharp as a tack, and honestly, your sense of humor is top-tier.
I've got a few thoughts, so I'm gonna take the liberty of dropping them here.
I feel like you’re attributing way too much to the illness. A lot of what you're describing might just be your personality—like, hating people, being a total homebody, playing the "alien" card, or thinking you're the smartest person in the room. Hey, there are plenty of us like that without having a diagnosis 😉
Second off, it feels like you’re pretty consciously using your condition as a way to get your own way 👍 honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d probably do the exact same thing.
Btw, I live near a major state hospital complex, so I know how things work—it's always been 😂 my thing. Those facilities look great from the outside, almost peaceful, but I know they're a complete DISASTER on the inside, just like most hospitals out there.
Anyway, how've you been? Haven't seen any posts from you in nearly a month—must have moved to a new URL or something.
Cheers, and hey, shoutout to Jack, I remember him from some other threads 😍
Oh, one more thing—that theory about weed triggering psychosis is hands down the dumbest thing I've ever heard. 🤣
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Karen Adams2 said:Yeah, seriously—can someone actually give me a straight answer? Is exercising going to mess things up for them???

I reckon—don't quote me on this, just my two cents—that working out is fine. Most people say hemorrhoids are caused by sitting too much (and eating like crap, obviously), so it makes sense that staying active helps.
Feeling weirdly nauseous in Health ·
Are you kidding me?
That's exactly how my body handles stress. Seriously, I've been feeling absolutely miserable for three weeks straight 😢
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Alright, I've got a question here.
For a few years now, every couple of months or so, I deal with what I assume is a hemorrhoid. It’s just this little lump by the anus that hurts if I touch it or if I squeeze my muscles. On the flip side, having a massive bowel movement isn't an issue—no pain there, and my stool is usually fine, though sometimes it's hard and sometimes soft depending on whatever random stuff I ate. The lump just clears up on its own after a few days.
Since this "latest lump" is hurting a bit more than usual—I can actually feel the pressure when I'm standing for too long—I'm wondering what I should use to treat it. Is just some chamomile tea enough? Or should I go grab some kind of cream?🤷

coppermarlin14 said:It’s coming from somewhere else entirely.

Look, I’m dealing with this too—frequent, loose stools, and sometimes they come with this weirdly acidic breath, though not every single time.
So, what's the deal here? What could it be?
I haven't even changed anything in my diet.
The only real downside to Marijuana is the hit it takes to your short-term memory. But honestly? If you actually focus, you can work around it.
I’m with whoever said that your mental state is everything—if you're already dealing with stuff in your head, Marijuana is just going to make things worse (obsessing over problems, depression, anxiety, all that junk).

Someone killing and raping while high?!? Coming home and screaming at their wife, making threats?!?
That’s some playground nonsense right there. Alcohol triggers aggression; weed doesn't. If you're out here acting like a psycho, maybe it's because you're just a loser... 😍
My eye is drifting! in Health ·
So, does your eye wander every once in a while, or is it just constantly off-center?
Mine drifts to the right—people look at me like I’ve completely lost my mind.
I try to control it, and honestly, I can manage when I’ve actually slept, but the second I'm tired, both eyes just decide to go their separate ways 😁
I’ve done all those classic exercises too; the pencil-to-nose thing, trying to draw with one eye covered, even that "put the cat in the window or the car in the garage" bit...
Is anyone else actually out here trying to put cats in windows?!? 😍
Anyway, things have been way better since I started wearing contacts.
