@Nicholas Johnson8/">@@Nicholas Johnson8: I'm wondering how much control I can actually get over this thing using my existing TV remote. From what I can tell, it should work thanks to the HDMI-CEC standard—my current set is a Sony, which uses their version of the tech. I'm really aiming to manage everything with just one remote 🙂

+1, I'm curious too. Honestly, having a ballpark figure would help people actually pull the trigger—those sticker prices on the webstore are brutal, and it's impossible to guess what kind of discount we'd actually see.

The whole Nigeria thing is probably the oldest scam on the internet. 🙄

Just a quick Google search would tell you everything.

For example:

Hope you didn't send anything.☕

But isn't that literally why forums even exist? To have discussions like this? I was looking for real stories from people here in the States. Where else am I gonna find them? On Google???
And obviously, I didn't send him anything...

You should've hit him with:
"Sounds great, I'm heading to Nigeria next month. I'm selling everything I own right now to fund the trip. So, go ahead and wire me the cash. Send me your address and I'll deliver it in person."
😁 🙂

👍 Oh, if only I'd thought of that sooner...

Thomas Ward40 said:Some woman actually asked me to ship a camera to her shop in the USA. Is this the address she gave:

Name : KENNETH ABIOLA
ADDRESS: 53 ONIPANU, MOKOLA.
CITY: New York City
STATE: NY
COUNTRY: USA
ZIP CODE: 23402
TEL: AT&T

Not sure about the address.
After I asked why she wouldn't just grab it off eBay in England instead of buying it here in the States, the conversation just went dead.

The whole script goes like this: I get an email saying, "hello, i want to buy the item but i want to know why you want to sell it and if it is in good condition. regards." I give them the rundown, and then boom—the response arrives: "
Thanks for the reply, and am glad to hear from you, am from England and I wanted to buy the item for my son who is going to Africa (USA) for a Monsanto project. So I will offer you $300 for the total cost of the item plus shipment via post to the USA. I will be remitting the payment via bank to bank transfer to your bank account. So let me have your details in order for me to proceed with the payment: Account holders, Name:, country:, tel: AT&T, Bank Name: JPMorgan Chase, IBAN/Acct Number:, Bic:

Hoping to read from you fast,
Regards." I just asked why they weren't buying locally and cut ties.

Since nobody’s actually answering my question about why he's buying stuff here in the States, I'm assuming it's some kind of shady setup...

Thanks for the (totally sincere :-)) replies.

Thanks for the link. I’ll try to figure out a way to wire the cash first, then I'll get it sent over.
Let's see what they have to say about it.

Why??
I’m opening an account that doesn't even allow overdrafts—once I see the funds have cleared, I'll ship the lens.
Why would I be stupid enough to pull that?

I need some quick advice on this:
I'm trying to sell a Canon 18mm lens. I just posted the ad on Craigslist and immediately got hit up by some guy from the United Kingdom. He says he wants to buy it for his son who’s heading out on a trip to Nigeria, and he wants to wire me $300 to cover the lens and shipping it over there. Now he's asking for my bank info, phone number, and all that—it feels incredibly sketchy to me. Anyone dealt with this kind of nonsense before??

Total side note, but I was actually thinking about setting up a dedicated PayPal account to start doing more trading on eBay, so let me know if you have any tips. I'm planning to get that account ready by Monday and give this guy those details.

Daniel Bishop8 said:tried downloading these drivers for the TV card, but no luck—not sure why. Everything was running perfectly on XP, but now? Installation goes smooth as silk, then I fire up PowerCinem and it just hits me with 'No TV tuner.' Even the light on the card won't turn on..
thanks for the quick reply

Running into the exact same headache with my TerraTec Cinergy HT PCI card. Grabbed the drivers that supposedly support Windows 7 64, but it’s a total wash if they don't actually work. If anyone out there has a fix...

Help me out here!!!

I just finished installing Windows 7 64-bit and now my digital TV card is being a total pain. I can't find it or get it installed to save my life. I downloaded the drivers and ran them, but the PC still won't even acknowledge it exists. It’s a TerraTec Cinergy HT PCI card... the exact same card worked perfectly fine for a year and a half back on Windows XP Pro SP3.
I'm also running into issues getting things to look right on my TV. In "Extend this" mode, the resolution on the TV looks fine, but once I switch to "Duplicate these displays"—which is actually what I want to do—the picture on the TV looks like it's stuck in a 4:3 aspect ratio. I've already installed the latest drivers, but I still can't get both the monitor and the TV to handle different resolutions properly. My setup uses a Sharp LCD 82cm and an ATI Radeon 3870 512 RAM GDDR3.

Thanks in advance.
