Is there any way to handle this using a formula or maybe a macro in Microsoft Excel 2003?

For instance,

I have columns C, D, E, F, and G hidden.

If I type the number 2 into cell A1... column C should automatically unhide.
Then, if I change A1 to the number 3... column D appears automatically.
And so on.
Is there a way to adjust the size of every single comment within a worksheet or an entire workbook all at once in Microsoft Excel 2003?
I’m dealing with a massive amount of comments here, and the default setting is just way too tiny. I really don't want to go through and manually resize every individual one by hand.

Well, I managed to figure out a fix...

I’m working with a Sheets file that relies on several different Macros.
Everything is running exactly how I want it to. Well, except for one tiny detail. Or maybe two..
Once the processing is done, the Sheets file is ready to be converted to a PDF.
One of the Macros I use handles sorting, which involves deleting entire rows.
I have a specific Print area set up. Since those rows get deleted, the Print area shrinks accordingly, which is actually fine by me.
So... all that's left is... the intended content... within a specific number of rows...
The sorting and the Print area effectively dictate how many rows remain..
Here is what I am looking to do.
Use a Macro to automatically re-number... the remaining rows.
For example, let's say the numbering starts in cell A5 and should stop at the second-to-last row... as defined by the Print area.

Side note:
I found a workaround..
After the sorting finishes, I just trigger a command to number everything down to the very end of the document..
Since the Print area is flexible... any numbers falling outside that zone simply don't print..

If you want, back in the 2007 version, you can just go into the Advanced Options and toggle off the setting to show all zeros in cells. If you do that, you won't even need this IF statement.

Thanks so much! 🙂
Could use a little help here.
For example:
I have two sheets...
Cell A1 on Sheet 2 is linked
to cell A1 on Sheet 1.

Cell A1 on Sheet 1 is empty—just completely blank.
But cell A1 on Sheet 2 has this formula: =Sheet1!A1
Which means it just shows a 0 (zero).
I want to get rid of that zero. I want the cell to actually look "empty" instead of displaying a value.
Is there a way to make that happen?
Kyle Johnson2 said:...it's going to take quite a bit of effort and expertise (no offense intended). Honestly, your best bet is to find someone who actually knows how to write decent VBA and have them build a Macro for you according to your needs.

Yeah... I get that. For now, I'll just spend some more time on Google... maybe I'll stumble onto something useful.
Microsoft Office ExportAsPDF
Though even if I do find something, when you lack the technical knowledge, you really lack it.
And maybe I'll run into a programmer. We'll see. It's not like I'm completely stuck without one.
Manually creating the PDF versions of the Sheets isn't actually that bad, especially since I have fewer than ten of them.

Some good sites:

And of course, one excellent 😉

This is how my Macro ended up working...
I assigned the Macro to a button... click the button...
a save window pops up... I save the desired Sheet as a new file... to a specific location...
a copy of the active document is saved to C:Temp\backup of FILE_NAME
but after saving the target Sheet... everything shifts... and the active document becomes "Backup of..."
which isn't quite what I'm after. I was hoping it would just automatically save the selected Sheet into a new document...

The logic I’m looking for might be a bit more complex if I want to handle everything in a single click...
Otherwise, the closest thing to what I need is this...
How to copy all Sheets and create new Workbooks named after the workbooks at a specific location

I'd be grateful if I could find some code that would
copy specific Sheets and create new Workbooks named after those sheets at a designated location
while allowing me to choose the file type for each Sheet... like .xls, .pdf, or .csv...
though... it can't actually create a .pdf... right?

In my first scenario... I'm copying the current Sheet into a New Workbook at C:\Temp
Using VB... List1... I copy the macro
into the workbook... List 1... I create a button... assign the macro to it...
I run the macro...
The file copies to the target location... it shows up in C:\Temp...
But when I try to open that copy... Excel opens, but there's no workbook visible...
Why does this happen?.. Did I mess something up?
😁 thanks 😁
It’s happened to me a few times while editing documents...
I've been using backspace and delete, but then suddenly, Word starts deleting everything to the right of my cursor too. I was working fast and honestly can't figure out which specific key combo I hit to trigger this. Does anyone know how to fix it? I just want to go back to normal typing without it eating the text ahead of me.

Take a look at these links.
........
Well... let's put it this way...

I've got a file...Book1.xls
In it...Sheet1..
I've got these spreadsheets sitting here—just a mess of cells packed with all sorts of different formulas.
I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here. You only sent "iz". If there was more to your thought, feel free to send it over. Sheet1I'm using a macro to copy specific cells over to a new sheet. Sheet2 (Book1.xls)

u Sheet2..(Book1.xls)
I'm trying to run a macro to sort some copied cells...
That’s just depressing. Sheet2 Ready for what? Extraction. iz Book1.xls

So... I’d probably just pull out a specific section of the content from... Sheet2Since that file contains a sorting macro, I’d just grab the actual data—minus the macro itself—and paste it into a brand-new workbook. Sheet1...new Book2.xls

Book2.xls
...would just move it straight to the desktop.
Or, if it’s actually doable... just create a folder, give it a name, and leave it at that. Book2.xls Just save it into that folder on your desktop, or wherever you want it on your hard drive.

That’s pretty much how the movie plays out in my head.
I'm looking to use an Excel macro to generate a brand new Book1.xls
and save that file directly to my desktop...
I also need to grab specific content from my main workbook, copy it over, and save it within that new file...
Is this actually doable?
As for this specific part I was stuck on... I figured it out. It's working now. Thanks.
I'm looking to copy a formula from one sheet over to another
basically, I want to link the sheets together so the cells stay connected

for example
if cell A1 on Sheet1
contains a formula, I want that value to show up in cell B1 on Sheet2
Yeah... I definitely overthought things a bit 🙂...
It's all sorted out now. Thanks, everyone...
Nicholas King said:I’m lost here. Which cells are you actually targeting with "/" and "//"? Based on how you wrote it, you want cell B2 to contain a "/" if the value is 1... but how can it be both 1 and a slash at the same time? 😕

I wanted to swap out some data..
If I have the number 1 in cell B2... I want to replace that 1 with a /

Yeah... I guess I'll need to add a few more columns to get the result I'm looking for..
driftingnomad68 said:Like this 😕

In Excel:
=IF(B2=1;"/";IF(B2=2;"//";"Error"))

Yeah... it works...
but it’s not quite what I was going for. Needs some tweaking..
thanks for the help..

Quick question about that little icon..
that tiny green triangle warning symbol..
> Formula in this cell differs from formulas in this range. <
Is that meant to alert me to an actual error?
Can I just ignore it?
Hi there.
Is this actually doable?

In cell B2, I have the number 1 written.
In cell B3, I have the number 2 written.

In cell D2, there's a slash symbol: /
In cell D3, there's a double slash: //

I'm looking to have cell B2 display the / symbol instead of the number 1.
And I want cell B3 to show // instead of the number 2.

The logic would go something like this:
If B2 contains a 1, show me the / symbol.
If B3 contains a 2, show me the // symbol.

I'm working on a strategy... specifically, how to build this little program...
I won't dive into all the heavy details just yet...
But here is what I'm focused on right now...

For example... in a worksheet... let's call it... Budget...
All the automated math operations I need are performed there...
And then the "thing" waits for the next step...

In a new worksheet... let's say... Copy...
I've already set up a macro command to delete rows... just like in the previous example, point 2...

Now, I want to record a macro that would perform the following sequence...
1. From the "Budget" sheet, I copy specific cells over to the "Copy" sheet...

2. Once in the "Copy" sheet, I trigger the macro that’s sitting there ready to go, which deletes the necessary rows...

So... my question is...
While recording a macro... is it possible to "embed" another macro inside it?
Essentially... linking two separate macros together into one single macro...

If that's doable... then later on, when recording one macro within another... I could eventually have a chain of multiple macros...

Any advice?
