Honestly, calling this Aleksic guy a populist feels like such an understatement, doesn't it? 🙏

I’ve noticed this whole "knee health" thread is one of the most active discussions going on here, so I figured I’d jump in and ask for some perspective.
Every time I go down into a squat, my right knee gives me this sharp, sudden "stab" of pain, though it passes almost instantly once I stand back up. Lately, though—over the last couple of weeks—it’s started feeling like there’s a click happening with every single step I take while walking. It doesn't actually hurt, and honestly, it isn't even a loud clicking sound that anyone else would notice, but it’s just... unsettling. Being constantly aware of that little movement makes me anxious, and I can't help but worry if this constant clicking is an early warning sign that my cartilage might be starting to wear down.

I'm not overweight, I ride my bike quite a bit, and I really enjoy power walking and staying active, so aside from being in my late thirties, I don't think I fall into any particularly high-risk categories.

Sure thing, there are quite a few—these are just some examples to get us started:

Why am I unable to access an older thread once a follow-up version gets posted?

Even though the new thread includes a direct link back to the original discussion, I keep getting hit with error messages saying I don't have the necessary permissions or some other technical restriction to view it.

I’ve actually got one too 😁😁

Hey there, picture book! image
rustygardener172 said:I totally forgot to mention one more thing... from what I've seen, the Smiths tend to have slightly drooping noses. (Just a heads-up though—that's just based on the specific people I've encountered personally, so it might not be a universal rule)

In my opinion, the absolute most important step is deciding exactly what kind of nose you actually want. Once you have that vision, find a surgeon who really aligns with your aesthetic and then take the time to sit down and explain your goals to them very, very clearly. 😁

My profile is pretty straight now—it’s only slightly lifted compared to how it used to be because I was honestly terrified of ending up with that "piggy" look. 😁 From everyone I've met from the Smith family (and I've seen three others besides my own), they all seem to have quite flat profiles.

To be honest, I was a little caught off guard hearing how poorly the public hospitals operate—at least according to what you all are saying..
(I feel like I should stick up for them just a bit, since medicine is my field too🙂 ), but it sounds like that really is the reality.
I’d always heard that ENT specialists at major university hospitals were the ones to trust; a few doctors have actually told me that personally... it seems like most of those private clinics aren't even staffed by true ENT specialists, and frankly, I wouldn't want to see anyone who isn't a specialist in this area..🙄
Ugh.... now I'm even more torn because, theoretically, I could just head down to a hospital and ask any doctor for their opinion.. but I'm pretty frugal, so paying for a consultation fee feels like throwing money away if it's not worth it.
😁
Hmm...😕

The reason they don't perform as well is that there are plenty of people in the system looking for kickbacks—I don't want to generalize, but it's a widespread issue, and if you don't "reward" them, they tend to do a half-hearted job. I actually had to go back for a revision myself because of this, and I didn't want to gamble with my health, so I ended up seeing an ENT at a private practice instead.
In a private setting, everything is much more straightforward because they actually have an incentive to get it right the first time so they don't have to deal with a formal complaint.
I'm honestly just glad I haven't tried the hospital route yet. 😢

The truth is, there are plenty of brilliant doctors working in the public hospital systems, but since they are so highly sought after, many of them run their own private practices on the side. So, you're left playing a guessing game as to whether you'll get better care at the hospital or at their personal clinic.
Kate Taylor59 said:Well, fair enough, but personally I’ve always been more drawn to the smaller carriers and those with a bit more texture...=)

I mean, he actually asked me if I preferred a textured look, so I don't think that's off the table with him either, though you can just tell by looking at his work that he definitely leans toward those smooth, clean lines😁

To each their own, right?

rustygardener172Wait, what exactly do you mean by a rounded tip? I couldn't quite tell from the photos😕
Carol Diaz31 said:My mom took the cast off three days ago, so everything is still pretty swollen and wide, naturally, so I don't want to give my final verdict just yet—though she did mention herself that my nose looks better than hers.

Even though we share a similar nose shape, her hump was much more pronounced, so our noses actually look quite different now. Honestly, I’m just relieved I went with Toncic 😁
.
As for me, I am absolutely loving how my nose looks right now; even though it's only been about six weeks, I'm already so happy with the result, but I have noticed this little "bump" right in the middle . I can't tell by touching it if it's just something under the skin, like a small blemish, or if it's part of the bone structure or something else entirely 😕. I know I read somewhere on the Forum that some other girls mentioned experiencing something similar, but I can't quite recall the details.
All I know is that it hurts if I press on it a bit too hard, or even when I'm applying foundation with a sponge; I have to gently tap it instead of sliding the sponge across, otherwise, the pressure is just too much.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

Are you talking about the middle of the nasal bridge?

I had something like that after my first surgery—it felt like cartilage, right where the bump used to be, if that's what you mean. It turned out that because the nose had been kept flat by the micro-swelling for so long, once all that swelling finally subsided, it looked like a subcutaneous pimple. I hated it so much, and when I was actually seeing Bastasic, I asked him if there was a risk of it happening again, because I definitely don't want to end up needing a revision surgery like Michael Jackson did. He assured me there was no chance and that it really just comes down to the surgeon's skill.

If it doesn't go away, you should definitely reach out to the office and let them know!

I really hope your mom ends up being satisfied with her results; it hasn't been very long at all. In my case, my nose has already shrunk significantly, and I can see there's still more swelling to go, so I'm just praying it doesn't end up looking too small. 😬
Carol Diaz31 said:I don't actually wear them all day anyway—I'm not really a fan of them, and since I just started wearing glasses, I haven't quite gotten used to the feeling yet. Plus, I don't wear contact lenses at all.

Hmm... I honestly thought it was $2,200, my bad! 😳
Anyway, that place was my second choice, so I ended up sending my mom there instead. Her surgery is this Tuesday, and I'm really hoping her nose doesn't turn out looking better than mine! 🤣

Oh my gosh, that's so soon! Sending so much luck to your mom. 😁

I'm way more nearsighted than most, so I definitely have to deal with this. 🙂
Carol Diaz31 said:And honestly, when you’re finally happy with the results, you wouldn't change a single thing, thank God.😍

Did you actually ask him for his specific advice on how long to hold off on wearing contacts?
I was told six weeks outright.
But then I went online and read at least three different versions of recommendations ranging from one month all the way up to a full year.🙄

My biggest headache right now is that I need my prescription glasses for lectures, and without them, I'm basically blind.😁

I didn't—he just told me "as little as possible," but I feel so bad for my nose that I've been wearing contacts, which is such a hassle when you're dealing with them for 16 hours a day.😢 I think I'm going to start wearing my glasses in the morning and right before bed instead.

By the way, I was looking over what you wrote about the costs—is the price really not that high at Tončić 10000?$3333 Because over at Bastaić, it's around $2,200, so slightly less than that,$5000 and I'm just not sure how you calculated a difference of $7,000.😕 It can't be that Tončić 10000 is only $9,000, because if that's true, that is incredibly cheap.

stormyharbor2 said:They weren't. My surgeon told me: no tanning beds, no sports, no heavy workouts, no straining, and stay out of the sun. He literally advised me to turn my face away from the sunlight during those first few days following the surgery.😁

To be honest, I can't say I was quite that careful; I actually wasn't really paying attention (except regarding the sun).🤷

I am being careful about the sun, though I did have the mold for seven days and then switched to the tampon for three.
Plus, I make sure to wear UVA/B protection every single day, even if I'm just sitting by the window at home.😬

I don't know, I started exercising again and they told me it was fine—I started during the sixth week, making sure not to push myself too hard, and they said that was okay.
I was even out riding my bike after two weeks.
But I have to admit, it feels to me like I might be one of those people who recovers more easily despite how complicated the surgery was—and from what I gathered, they had to cut that muscle above your lip, so maybe that plays a part in it too.🤷
Carol Diaz31 said:Look, what happened to me is pretty rare, I know. But honestly, dealing with vomiting and all those other potential side effects from general anesthesia just isn't something I'm willing to risk... everyone reacts differently to it.
Plus, I had three nurses right there to assist me, and their expertise was absolutely top-tier, so the only things that could possibly drive up the cost of the surgery would be the general anesthesia itself and staying overnight at the facility, and I highly doubt that adds that much to the bill. $2167

I suppose it really comes down to personal preference, but I actually told my mom she was being a bit irrational because I just can't see any logical reason for such a massive price gap. 🤷

Personally, I didn't feel nauseous at all, which is surprising since I usually start feeling a bit motion sick on even moderately long drives. 😁

Oh, I totally get it—I only mentioned it to provide some extra information so everyone can decide what works best for them. I'm doing it again, aren't I? 😁

On another note, I've decided I won't be wearing my contacts for a while, and once summer rolls around, I’m going to limit myself to just an hour or two of sunlight; that's the plan I've settled on.
Carol Diaz31 - sure, the price tag is higher with Bastaić, but you’re paying for a top-tier specialist. More importantly, you’re getting full general anesthesia with a dedicated anesthesiologist, an anesthesia tech, and two nurses, which really adds up 🙂
.
Honestly, everything you went through sounds like an absolute nightmare to me.

When it comes to all these debates (which are actually pretty fun, by the way 😛) regarding sports versus just staying sedentary—you could end up smashing your nose in, having a clumsy fall on some stairs, or even heading out for a jog only to have someone accidentally bump into you hard
.
If we followed that logic to its conclusion, the smartest thing would be to just stay in bed indefinitely and put your entire life on hold for six months or a year.🙄

Personally, I think exercising is great for circulation (and indirectly for nasal circulation too 😍), and since I feel so much better when I'm active, that's exactly what I choose to do.

At the end of the day, everyone should just do whatever works best for them.🙂
stormyharbor2 said:How would you even begin to define "sport"? It’s such a massive, sweeping concept that I feel like we could debate it for hours over coffee. To me, it isn't just about organized leagues or professional athletes on ESPN; it’s something much more personal than that. I’ve spent a significant amount of my own life training—really pushing myself through workouts and physical discipline—so I look at it through that lens. For me, sport is that intersection where physical exertion meets a specific kind of mental grit. It’s the commitment to movement, whether you're running marathons through the streets of Chicago or just hitting the gym consistently to stay sharp. It's about setting a goal, testing your limits, and seeing if you can actually hold yourself to the standard you set. It's more than just a hobby; it's a way of engaging with your own potential. 🤷

I’m actually in the same boat; I’m finally heading back to my Pilates classes after being away for a little over a month. I’ve been making sure to stay mindful of my movements and being extra careful not to trip or bump into anything, though honestly, that kind of cautiousness is pretty much how I carry myself every single day anyway. 😁

Here we go again with those ridiculous fairy tales. 🙄
stormyharbor2 said:jadedriver0, I think you totally missed the heart of what I was saying. It isn't really about whether someone has "willpower" or not, because there are just certain things in life that are completely out of our hands—some people are simply born with these struggles. I mean, if we look at it through a medical lens, is someone with schizophrenia to blame for being ill? Of course not. Now, I’m not trying to equate schizophrenia directly with bulimia, but honestly, who are we to play judge and decide which mental health struggle carries more weight than another? Those girls with the extreme insecurities you were talking about sound genuinely unwell to me; I don't feel like mocking them, I actually feel a sense of pity for them. That is, unless we are talking about the ones whose entire existence revolves around chasing fame and trying to become a regular fixture on the Red Carpet—those aren't people struggling with illness, they're just shallow. 🤷

P.S. I highly doubt anyone here actually expects us to swoop in and fix their life problems for them. At least, I know I certainly don't.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, but I just felt like I had to get this off my chest.😢

Signed, michaela!

jadedriver0, you're just being hateful, and frankly, your views seem pretty outdated since you clearly don't understand much about mental health issues. 🙄

People die from depression and they die from bulimia too, and it's honestly twisted to glamorize it like it's some kind of lifestyle choice.

Why on earth would that happen? I honestly can't wrap my head around the reasoning behind it.
What on earth happened?

Carol Parker57 As stated by:
I’ve been sitting here staring at the screen, trying to make sense of things, and I have to ask—has anyone actually noticed anything different about stormyharbor2’s nose lately? It feels like there’s this phantom change floating around, but honestly, I can’t tell if I’m just overthinking it or if I’m actually seeing something. Does it even exist? I find myself wondering if she actually went through with some kind of surgery or if there’s just something else going on that I’m missing entirely. Is it just me, or is there something fundamentally off that I can't quite put my finger on?
It feels like there’s an endless stream of questions swirling around stormyharbor2’s nose lately—it’s become this absolute mystery that everyone seems to be obsessing over.😁

Anyway, stormyharbor2, I truly hope you’re happy with how things turned out—or that you will be, at least. Honestly, I can't tell if you actually are or not, since I can only really guess based on the fact that you replied to my private message after I had gone through the trouble of politely sending over those photos and explaining everything in detail following your initial inquiry, only for you to give me a rather "polite" version of being completely ignored.

Well, didn't Cuira mention she wasn't exactly thrilled with how things turned out?

She hasn't sent me any photos either—it seems like she’s still feeling pretty uncertain about how things actually turned out. 🤷

Carol Diaz31 told me that Bastaić thinks I shouldn't bother with massages or lymphatic drainage at all. 😉
stormyharbor2, if I were in your shoes, I’d be pushing Dr. Glusac for a formal complaint or at least a guaranteed repair. Honestly, my advice would be to hang in there for about six months to a year, and then you should tell him 😉
Carol Diaz31 said:I really only have profile pictures right now, so if anyone is actually interested, just shoot me a private message and I'll send them over. 🙂

It doesn't make much sense to take photos from the front right now because the swelling is still pretty bad, but honestly, it looks better every single day. 😁 Of course, it’s still way too wide for my liking, but when I think back to how absolutely desperate I felt just four days ago when I first took the mold off, seeing how it looks today feels like... 👍

I’d prefer the before or the after 😁

I think Jasmin's nose looks fine—though I'll admit I definitely have a soft spot for those guys with the rugged, chiseled looks.

But I am just not feeling the Petar Grašo vibe at all. 😲😲😲
To the girl who sent me a PM asking for those photos, could you please reach out to me? I ended up deleting my post and now I can't remember your username—I've been trying to find casualgardener21, but otherwise, I'm just stuck 🤷
