Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
So, what exactly are you working with right now?

The ISO format exists for a reason. Honestly, if you don't know what an ISO is or how it actually functions, it might be best to stop messing around with it.

An ISO file is a complete image of an optical disc (like a CD or DVD), allowing you to use the contents without needing the physical media. If your goal is to burn it back onto a disc, you really need to burn the entire ISO file. The data on a disc isn't just the files you see when you open it in a file explorer. By extracting only the individual files and burning those instead, you’re leaving out the "invisible" data. Specifically, you're likely missing the boot sector of the installation package. That part exists for one single purpose: to allow your BIOS to recognize that a disc has been inserted and then trigger the installation process.

Every decent disc-burning program has an option to burn an ISO file directly. You should have used that method, and everything would have worked fine. Now you know for next time. It's highly probable that all the installers you've used up until now were perfectly fine, but you broke them by failing to include the bootable component.

edit. I was trying to reply to martinmg42, but this forum is being incredibly slow. 😉

Is anything actually happening here, or what? Do I need to start bribing people just to get a response?

Have you checked the thread? I wonder if there’s been any kind of decision yet.

Here is the link to that thread. The original post that kicked off this whole discussion was post number... 908 The discussion that followed lasted about a page or so, I guess.

I suppose I should probably address what Daniel Ward87 mentioned earlier. It seems like everyone is jumping to conclusions without actually looking at the data. Maybe we aren't seeing the full picture here. I mean, if you look at how things are moving in Chicago right now, it doesn't exactly suggest that the policies are working as intended. I guess it’s possible there are outliers, but I wouldn't bet on it. It feels like a bit of a stretch to say everything is fine. Not that I'm an expert, obviously.

All the posts have been wiped now, but if I'm not mistaken, the admins can still see everything that was deleted.

I am filing a formal complaint against the moderator Charles Bailey4 regarding the "Cycling" subreddit due to inconsistent enforcement, biased moderation, and the active undermining of other users' posts. I apologize in advance if this thread is formatted incorrectly; I simply could not locate the specific guidelines for submitting a grievance.

In the "Used Gear & Classifieds" thread, Charles Bailey4 tends to delete posts based on his own subjective whims rather than following established community rules. Even if moderators are permitted to set their own guidelines, the double standards being applied here are significant.

Charles Bailey4, along with another user, teamed up to disparage a third user's listing. While criticizing an unfair deal is one thing, using multiple posts to tear down an ad that fully complied with both sub rules and thread guidelines is another matter entirely. Perhaps the seller overestimated their bike's value by $300-$133, but that is their prerogative, and a moderator's comments carry undue weight among the community.

After I attempted to explain that their behavior was inappropriate, they turned on me. Following several deletions, the only remaining posts are those labeling me as a scammer or a fraud. To make matters worse, Charles Bailey4 explicitly called me a scammer in his own explanatory post. Furthermore, they singled out my listing to mock and undermine it, despite the price being perfectly reasonable.

To top it off, he followed up with a provocative comment suggesting, "See what we have to deal with...", implying I am somehow incompetent.

In a private message sent regarding my warning, he even noted that he doesn't care about the actual market value of items. If the valuation isn't his concern, I fail to see why he feels the need to critique the ads. The only logical conclusion is that he was trolling and abusing his authority.

I believe this type of conduct is unacceptable and warrants disciplinary action. I am willing to accept a few warnings for my tone, but moderators should be held to the same standard and held accountable for their mistakes through a formal apology.

Both spots are just a few hundred yards from my house. Those hills are actually great for training; you can climb to the summit, head down the other side toward a neighborhood like Naperville, and loop back. Do that twice and I guess you're done with your workout for the day. 😁I guess I managed to set a personal best on the downhill stretch along Broadway, hitting about 82 mph.
