Ugh, that route above looks awesome. I was actually thinking about ditching the local farmland path and heading under the overpass near the suburbs, cutting through the creek toward Antunović, then maybe hitting the highway outskirts or heading toward the park area via the pedestrian bridge and the residential district. Or, I guess, I could go all the way out to the American Brotherhood Community and cross the bridge from there. I’m basically trying to switch up my route every chance I get because honestly, I'm bored to death. Haven't been out in a bit, but once it warms up just a tiny bit, I'll be back. I usually pack a spare outfit, but I can't exactly walk through the front desk at a Hilton wearing just a bikini 😢 But hey, I found a total hack for us girls—you can get skirts with built-in undies, and if not, you can always just wear a bikini under a skirt 😁 (or even under pants, I guess). You just change somewhere and you're good to go 😁 Of course, I always have an emergency hygiene kit on me 😁 Can't be spreading radiation at work, right? 😁
Done. We could even just do a one-day loop as a scout run before committing to a longer route 🙂 Plus, I don't even have a cycling jersey 😬 Not that I really care, honestly—it’s just people giving me grief about it. Ugh... If I don't have it, it probably won't matter anyway ☕ I've got my Bach gear, bib shorts, lights, and gloves that are basically falling apart (totally awesome, right?), plus a pump and a spare tube (plus patches). Hmm, maybe a water bottle and some lights. And legs, haha. That's everything else, right? I guess I'll toss a raincoat in there just in case.
Ugh, I can't even do weekdays, only weekends... Plus, I'm headed to Vicksburg this weekend, so that's out too. I was thinking maybe mid-September, towards the end 😁 Btw, I couldn't get the trunk assembled, so I gotta drag my weird metal contraption somewhere to have someone actually put it together...
Finally back home. So, I’m heading out from Washington, D.C. (totally forgot I had this "random location" 🤣 thing going on). Still haven't figured out when, though. Time is just flying by and I have zero plans...
Eh, nothing's set in stone yet. I was thinking about grabbing a couple of people to just cruise around, though I still need to map out exactly where I'd head. I'm too swamped right now, so maybe some weekend this fall. I've got a place to crash, which honestly sounds way better than camping in a tent and a sleeping bag for my first trip. Later on, I might try the outdoor thing. Anyway, I'll give a shout when I'm actually going, in case anyone wants to tag along for part of the drive or whatever. I'll put a route together, obviously. Fingers crossed the weather stays decent and everything goes smoothly. Enjoy your rides!
So, you guys still haven't sorted anything out for this month? Seriously? I guess I'll just mount everything onto my MTB and pick up a tent myself then. 😁
Alright, sounds good. Have a blast in August, and I'll catch you guys in September—I'm sure we'll figure out a date that works. As far as I know, those hills in the Midwest (and I know them pretty well) are no joke, so I’ll probably be pushing my bike through some spots, but don't worry, I'll catch up to you 😁 😁 😁 I'm not exactly a mountain goat, but I'm trying to get my cardio up. If I start lagging behind, just leave me in a ditch 😂
Yeah, things are pretty catastrophic around Mikleuška, but man, those woods are gorgeous. I guess the Midwest has amazing forests everywhere too, so let's just hope they actually stick around... though the roads here have been absolute trash forever, but hey, that's just the standard American reality for you. @Walter Gomez16/">@@Walter Gomez16 - am I at the coast? Well, I'm not 😁 right now, but I'll be 😁 around San Diego and the area near Šibenik in a few days 😁 Anyway, I bet fadedcrane36 would be down to do the tour again in September, so we can all get together. 👋
Looks like you guys already beat me to it 😁 Alright, there’s still a month left. From what I can see, a few of you are heading out soon, so I'll probably just jump in then. Honestly, that would be perfect for me too, since I'd just be stuck waiting on my PTO, assuming I can find someone to feed my pets while I'm gone 😁 OK, I'll figure that out. Well, uh... I should know by the end of next week
Sure, as long as you don't mess up my September plans! I know it's a stretch, but I just can't make it work sooner. I might be free after August 26th... which basically makes it September anyway. So, yeah, go ahead, provided you promise to help me round up the crew in September.
wow, this all sounds awesome! I guess I really need to get my act together and start packing. I’m hitting the coast until August 26th, so maybe early September would work? Not sure what everyone else had in mind, but I definitely need some time to get organized. I've got a sleeping bag, I still need to sort out a tent, and I probably need some cargo shorts to pack everything in... so yeah, that's pretty much it.
So, yeah, basically. I ride an MTB and I'm definitely not some pro climber on those hills 😁, but I guess I’ll figure it out eventually. Trip length isn't really the issue—it's just that I won't exactly be breaking any speed records. Camping is fine; I was thinking about crashing with relatives, but honestly, maybe not. It usually just leads to those long family dinners where everyone interrogates you about everything you've missed... total nightmare. I'm starting from the city, so I need to figure out how to bypass Long Village, though I have a few ideas already. Going through the hills near the Mississippi should be pretty smooth 😁. I mean, I could always just take the train partway, but I don't know, that wasn't really the original plan 😁
What I actually wanted to do was hit up some archaeological sites, old buildings, historical landmarks, blah blah, plus anything else worth snapping a photo of or jotting down 😁 The idea was kind of to start a little travel blog or something, I guess... if I can actually manage to do it all at once. We'll see...
Anyway, I'll post whenever I actually head out. If anyone wants to tag along, you're more than welcome, I guess. I just need to tweak my bike a bit and grab some gear 😁 (so I don't end up forgetting my pump, spare tube, and basic tools... again). Obviously, having free time is the big deciding factor here. But yeah, that's the plan 😁
Yeah, totally, that would be awesome! I’m actually planning a three-day Tour de Moslavina, though I haven't quite locked down the exact route yet. Just some rough ideas so far 😁 I really need to see when my schedule clears up—maybe sometime this fall? But I won't make any promises; once it happens, I'll just drop the photos and everything 🙂 Less talking, more doing 😁
I mean, I go, but there’s not much to say—it’s just routine. If the weather's decent, I ride; if not, I just drive. Only thing is, I have to leave way earlier now, and honestly, the heat gets me so worked up I basically have to carry a change of clothes. Though, even in the car, it isn't any better, even with the AC blasting. My old bike finally finished its tune-up, so I'm rolling on that. It’s got thinner tires meant for the pavement, since riding my MTB on the road is such a massive struggle. This one's definitely faster. 🙂
Believe it or not, just try some regular cooking oil or maybe those oil-based baby wipes. Oil’s probably better if you use a rag, obviously. If you're dealing with an epoxy coating or some kind of varnish, then yeah, don't even bother... But hey, maybe someone out there needs the tip, so there. I didn't know this until recently, but it works great for those basic types of glue.
hiddenviper17 said:Wait, was I the one being a total girl about it? 🙂 🤣
So what's your route? How many miles?
Nobody even tried talking to me at the stoplights. 😁 Maybe they just see me all winded and realize I can barely breathe, let alone chat. 😂
Hmm, nah, I’m riding from Brooklyn, basically Queens over to New Jersey City 😁 So we’re actually headed in opposite directions, I guess. Mileage? No clue, don't have a bike computer, maybe like 6 miles? Just take it easy, you'll get fit faster than me since you're actually consistent 😁 Maybe it's the perfume choking you, not the ride 🙂 (kidding, but honestly, if it were me—I mean, I'm fit, but if I spray too much perfume before work I can't even breathe, plus tights are super constricting 😍, anyway, I'm wayyy faster usually—gotta have excuses, right, haha). Ugh, that's probably why I'm so slow too!
Btw, I got absolutely soaked on my way home today. You splashed me so hard I'm gonna be covered in mud, and now my front disc brake is all messed up and squeaking like crazy. Screw these fancy brakes... and all those "experts" talking...
I don't really like bothering people, you know? Might make someone think I'm some kind of creep 🤷, plus I mostly just enjoy staring into space and letting my brain wander. If someone actually talks to me, I just ramble on and on until the light turns green at the intersection. 😁Once I start rambling, it’s pretty much impossible to stop.
@ hiddenviper17 - oh, please! It takes me maybe 45-50 minutes to get to work, but I’m never really in a rush. So don't even stress about it. I managed to outpace one lady once, but everyone else just leaves me in the dust 😁 both the older folks and the younger ones, and some of them are riding bikes that look like they might fall apart at any second. Honestly, it doesn't matter what kind of bike you have, as long as you actually maintain it, keep it lubed, and—you know—actually ride it regularly. I drove my car yesterday because it was just easier, but I ended up not even needing it, so I was basically grumpy all day. It’s wild how much better my mood is at the office when I actually pedal! Today I even chatted up this lady at a red light about how terrible the bike lanes are and everything. It’s honestly so cool when a group of 5 or 6 of us gets together and rides in a pack 😁 It's awesome seeing so many people out riding! 😍 (and I guess I count myself among them)
Ugh, if that were even possible, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I just don't have the means, and there's no way you can sneak something like that into an apartment building. I'd strip everything movable, carry it all myself (minus the wheels, obviously...), and then throw on an extra cable and a Master Lock. Just let them try! I might even rig up some cheap Chinese alarm at the top 😁 😁 😁
