I honestly don't get why you're throwing labels around when you're clearly enjoying the whole show yourself
? You've spent more weekends hooking up with more people than they have, including the girls—it's all the same thing to you.

How can anyone "outgrow" sex just because it feels good?!! That part should stay forever. Not to mention everything else it brings to the table 👍

No

Simply put, intimacy within a relationship and hookups are two entirely different beasts. You can't even put them in the same conversation. From every possible angle, hooking up with professionals is just higher quality and better overall.

And here I was thinking being in a relationship was the way to go.

I've pretty much moved past having sex just for the rush.
Nowadays, it's basically just a tool for building closeness.

Listen, can someone please walk me through how the doctor's visit actually goes? I'm starting to get pretty worked up over this. Like, what's the whole procedure? What does the doc actually do, how long am I waiting on results, and what's the general timeline for follow-ups?

Lol, "escorts"
I could never bring myself to go there.

Meanwhile, I'm hooking up with my boyfriend—zero stress about diseases since we're both clean.

Water fasting: Dropped from 190 to 172 lbs in Health ·

If it is, have you even tried sticking to nothing but fruits and veggies for at least a month first?
Training at the gym is basically a waste of time while you're fasting like that.

So, I ended up hitting just over 1,000 calories today.

The hunger just became too much to deal with.

Back at it tomorrow.
I stocked up on pickles, beets, and peppers, so if the hunger pangs hit again, I'll just snack on those since they're basically zero calories.

Hey, I’ve been hitting the gym harder lately and definitely seeing some muscle growth, but my abs are still playing hide and seek under all this bulk.
There's just nothing to see there.
I'm currently trying out a liquid diet, so I'll let you guys know how that goes.

Anyone here actually messed around with a liquid diet before?
Is anyone else planning on giving it a shot?
Cold showers: Any benefits? in Health ·
restlessdriver said:Even after two years, jumping into a cold shower is still a struggle, but I power through those few minutes because the payoff is insane—better focus, energy levels through the roof. Obviously, it’s not for everyone... but it’s all about getting used to it.

I'm currently sitting at day 70 of NoFap, and I've definitely felt the perks; I actually broke that down in another thread.

I tried using the "cold approach" a few times this summer and it worked out pretty well. It was like I just knew exactly what to say in the moment. Granted, people are more laid back during the summer when they're hanging out at the beach, but it's still a win since just a couple of years ago, I would've avoided talking to anyone I didn't know at all costs. I still get hit with anxiety every now and then, but it’s rare.

I'm also planning to get back into the gym. It hasn't been months, but I'm also learning German, finishing up my degree, and trying to stay proactive because procrastination and laziness (which I blame on low testosterone) basically stole a few years of my life.
Plus, I fast on certain days; once every two weeks, I do a 36-hour fast, and it gives my testosterone and energy levels a massive boost.

Looks like you caught onto the benefits of these habits early on. You're only 19, man—keep it up.

Awesome work, 70 days of NoFap🙏

I'm only on day 3 and there's no way I'm stopping.
Cold showers: Any benefits? in Health ·
Hey, 19-year-old here.

I’ve spent the last year tweaking my daily routine and stumbled upon a few core principles that have totally reshaped how I live my life.
One of them is:
1) Cold showers.

Hot water actually messes with a guy's testosterone levels;
so even though it feels great, I decided to commit to freezing showers all year round.
I’ve been doing this pretty much non-stop since 2017, except for those rare times when I'm actually sick and can't handle it.
My experience and the results:
- a sense of zen after getting out
- building serious willpower
- higher libido
- better fertility
- handling stress way more effectively
- improved blood circulation

Besides the cold showers, I'm practicing NoFap (basically staying celibate until I find a girlfriend), hitting the local gym for light workouts, working in the garden,
learning how to cook some decent meals, and messing around on the guitar.

Moving forward, I want to work on my cold approach—actually walking up to girls my age—as well as just striking up conversations with people at bus stops or other public spots.

I deal with social anxiety, so the goal is to crush that and get to a point where I can talk to anyone.

What's the consensus on this?
Anyone else here into the whole cold shower thing?

Are you guys planning on giving it a shot?
It’s brutal at first, but eventually, it kind of becomes fun because you're essentially winning a fight against your own discomfort.
How to set up a WiFi extender in IT Support ·
There isn't a universal "click here, click there" guide because every interface is different depending on the brand you're using.

Anyway, this is how I handle it.

I work with a static IP address.

First off, you need to figure out what your router's IP actually is.

It’ll usually be something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1.

Then, fire up the Netgear WiFi Extender, hook your computer or phone up to it, and head into the network settings.

You should see an option for a static IP there, and you'll want to set it to 192.168.x.100.

Just make sure X matches your router's third number—so if your router is 192.168.1.1, X is 1.

Set your gateway to 192.168.1.1 and your DNS server to 192.168.1.1 too.
Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

After that, reset the extender.
Connect back to it using those static details you just made.

On your PC or phone, type in an IP address like 192.168.x.[some number] (just don't use 1 or 100).
Set the gateway to 192.168.1.1.
For DNS 1, use 8.8.8.8.
For DNS 2, use 8.8.4.4.

Then, pull up your browser, type in 192.168.1.100, and through the interface, pick the network you want to extend.

You can give it a fresh name or keep it the same as your main network; it's totally up to you.
Just punch in your router's WiFi password and it'll link up.

Once it's done, you can grab any device on the network, navigate to the extender's IP (like 192.168.1.100), and everything should be running smooth.

It'll work like a charm.

The beauty of using a static address is that you can hop into the browser whenever you feel like it to tweak the settings.

If you leave it on dynamic, the extender is constantly hunting for an address from the router, and you might find it changing on you every single day.

If that sounds like gibberish, here's a breakdown from a site I found:

1. Don't touch your wireless router settings. Just make sure DHCP is active for a specific range of IPs you're aware of... say, 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.50.

2. Think of the repeater as having two sides: the "WAN" side that talks to the router, and the "LAN" side that hands out IP addresses to your gadgets.

3. Plug your PC into the repeater and assign it a fixed IP within the range your router uses for dynamic addresses. Just make sure this fixed IP is higher than anything the router would automatically hand out. For example, if you've got 4 wireless devices and 2 plugged into the router (6 total), give the repeater something like 192.168.1.20. Since 20 is higher than 6, you won't run into any IP conflicts.

4. Set the repeater's LAN side to use DHCP, but use a different subnet than the router. If the router is running 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.50, set the repeater's LAN to 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.50.

5. Give the repeater a unique name so you aren't guessing when you go to "Connect to a Network." You'll likely see both the router and the repeater appearing at once.

That's pretty much it. The repeater will start broadcasting those 192.168.2.xx addresses, and you can just connect to those. If you're on a PC hooked to the repeater, you should find it at 192.168.2.1 (keep in mind 192.168.1.1 is your actual router).

This works because you've basically created two separate LANs that don't trip over each other's addresses.

The "pretty much" part is because I'm assuming you aren't using encryption yet. Get the connection solid first, then worry about security. Once it's working, set up a WEP (or whatever standard you prefer) key for each device. You'll need two separate keys—one for the router and one for the repeater. I usually just use the same one for both, though technically they should be different.

Go ahead and mess around with it; you've got nothing to lose.

If you end up making a mess of things, just grab a toothpick, hold down the reset button on the extender, and start the whole process over.
How to set up a WiFi extender in IT Support ·
It’s probably not the router itself, unless your DHCP is totally acting up or other devices are having a hard time connecting via WiFi too.

If you're trying to pair that Netgear WiFi Extender using WPS and the router's WPS feature is disabled, well, there's your smoking gun.

Or, if the router is running on old-school WEP security, that can definitely throw a wrench in the works.

You should be able to get in without much trouble as long as you're punching in the right password.

Personally, I always set my extenders to a static IP address. It just makes life easier because I can hop onto that specific IP from any device on the network whenever I feel like checking if everything is running smoothly.

Just search Google for instructions on setting a static IP address and you'll find plenty of info.

When you're configuring that static IP, you'll need to input the Gateway and DNS—basically the router's IP—along with the subnet mask, which is usually 255.255.255.0.

Also, if your router is sitting at 192.168.1.1, go ahead and set the extender to 192.168.1.100. That way, you won't have some other device snatching the same address and causing a total headache.

Do a little digging online. 👍

I've got this Dell Latitude running an Intel Core i3.

Would I actually feel a difference if I snagged a T8300 on Amazon for like 5 bucks?
Also, would it be worth grabbing 2 gigs of RAM on Amazon for $5 just to bump me up to 4 gigs total? Right now I'm sitting at 3 (it's a 2+1 setup, so I'd have to swap the 1 for a 2)
I'm guessing the biggest win would be dropping in a Western Digital?

This thing is crawling right now, so I figured these tiny tweaks might bring it back from the dead.

Besides the Western Digital, I could probably find a $50 120 GB drive on Craigslist for about 😁 $20, which feels like a decent little investment.

Just buy a new one.
Unless you're broke, in which case, grab a better chip or some RAM off Amazon.
And yeah, a Western Digital makes a massive difference—I honestly can't deal with a PC that doesn't have one anymore.
Wisdom tooth gum pain (19M) in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
Hey everyone,
For the last three days, the gums behind my right wisdom tooth have been acting up and causing some pain.
I can't tell if the tooth is actually trying to break through or if there's something else going on.
No cavities here—I’m pretty disciplined about hitting up the dentist for regular checkups.
A few weeks back, I had the exact same thing happening with my left wisdom tooth, but that cleared itself up in about a week.
Just wondering what might be triggering this. Since I'm only 19, could this just be part of the whole development process?

I've lost interest in everything in Psychology ·
Hey,
I signed up for college because everyone kept telling me, "In America, you can't really make anything of yourself without a degree."
Turns out, I picked the absolute worst major possible.
I couldn't care less about any of this, but hey, I figured I’d just enroll and see what happens.
Naturally, I studied, but it wasn't exactly that "burning passion" kind of studying—it was more like "let's just scrape by so I don't fail" studying.
Well, that backfired spectacularly, and now I've missed the passing mark on five different exams by a hair.
So yeah, I'm officially screwed.
I highly doubt I'll pull it off during finals week,
considering I have five subjects to retake all within a two-week window.
To top it all off, I passed five classes and failed five others.
Is that a win or a loss? I'm a freshman at a university I barely even understand yet.
gentlebear said:Hi there,

I’m not entirely sure if this is the right subforum for this kind of question, so if I'm off base, I'd appreciate it if the moderators could move this thread elsewhere.

Well, the title pretty much says it all.

I’ve got a MacBook Air and a LaCie Porsche design 1 TB External Hard Drive. Right now, the drive is formatted as NTFS because I actually picked it up a little while before I got my Mac. As most of you probably know, dealing with different formats and compatibility issues can be a real headache.

What I really need is an External Hard Drive that lets me move files back and forth between two different operating systems. NTFS is strictly for Windows; my Mac can see it, and I can pull files off it, but I can't save anything new onto the drive.

On the flip side, a macOS format is strictly for Mac, and a PC won't even be able to read it.

That leaves exFAT as an option. It doesn't have those compatibility headaches, and it doesn't have any file size limits (at least not any that would affect me). Most of what I'm storing is just photos, some music, and various documents.

The thing that's making me hesitate is that I've heard people claim exFAT isn't very stable and that you might risk losing data from the drive. That's something I definitely want to avoid. I realize no format is ever 100% foolproof, but apparently, exFAT is considered somewhat risky.

So, what do you guys think? Has anyone had good luck using exFAT? Also, is it possible to split the External Hard Drive into two partitions—maybe 500GB as NTFS and 500GB as HFS?

I remember when I first set up the drive, it actually gave me an option to decide how much space to allocate to the Mac versus the PC, so it seems like it might support that kind of setup.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 😁

I'm pretty sure FAT32 works on both Windows and macOS.
The catch is you can't move any files larger than 4GB.
Think movies or big game files.

As for partitioning, you can totally do that using Disk Management in Windows to set up NTFS, then hop over to the Mac and allocate the rest to a macOS-compatible format.
