Are we actually going to see the oldest Grand Tour winner ever?

If this is a reaction to yesterday, why wait until today to say anything?🙂
Respect to her for how she handled him. I was honestly worried when they hinted he might break away, but that seasoned pro caught up and completely outclassed him.🙂
Kish did great for Horner and pulled him along nicely. Even the commentators seemed impressed, praising him a few times.🙂
Customs issues in Cycling ·
Forget about that bus getting a VAT refund or dodging taxes. Before you even think about playing dumb and hoping they don't catch on, maybe look up the federal penalties first? Think about if it's worth the risk.
Maybe it’s easier for you to just wait until the US fully integrates into these global trade agreements so customs disappears. But then again, so does the tax refund.

I’m not entirely sure what kind of service you actually need—whether it’s a quick tune-up or full part replacements—but you might want to reach out to the crew over at the local Bike Shop. They can handle the maintenance for you, or better yet, show you the ropes so you can tackle the next one yourself.

I'm thinking about adding a high-end helmet to the kit as well.

If you actually get it, let us know. We need to see a live stream of you riding in it. 😂

That’s the ride toward Cleveland. No map for the return trip, though—we decided to cut through Gary instead once we hit Cleveland.

I had no idea about that spring back at the Spa. If only I'd known 🙂. We actually passed a quarry on the way toward Paul where they were actively mining while we cycled by. There was something quite visceral about feeling the explosions and the ground shaking beneath your tires.

thanks
Yeah, you definitely need to grab some mineral water from the spring.
Now you have a reason to head back to the Spa.😁

analogmaker5 said:Just a quick recap of the Cleveland-Detroit trip I took with a buddy. 😁

The main route was roughly 56 miles one way, totaling about 180 miles round trip. Finished the whole thing in a single day. Left at 7:00 AM and hit Cleveland by 1:30 PM; took a 45-minute break to look around town, then headed back around 2:30 PM, arriving home by 10:00 PM. We kept stops minimal—just enough for water, a snack, or to catch a view, especially since I find the scenery in Canada absolutely stunning 😁.

The outbound route toward Cleveland:
Cleveland-Krapina-Pregrada-Rogatec-Rogaška Slatina-Poljčana-Slovenka Bistrica-Slivnica-Cleveland.
The return trip:
Cleveland-Slivnice-Rače-Kidričevo-Macclesfield-Krapina-Cleveland

Mileage is somewhere in that ballpark. Physically, the way back felt easier due to fewer climbs while riding through the Mississippi Delta. Traffic was lighter too, since we cut through small towns. Drivers were respectful, as were the border patrol agents who didn't even bother asking if you had anything extra in your pack 😁. No issues at all; nothing but good vibes. Definitely recommend making the trip.

Best,

Sounds solid. Did you use a specific app to track the mileage? Would be interesting to see the specifics.
Did you grab a soda from a vending machine in Rogaška? 🙂

Facebook friends, right?🙂
Don't tell me you've already forgotten Bambi's stew and the Nemin paprika at the bicycle race in Brdovc, or that group photo from the bicycle race in Kutina.🙂

As for Davorin, I just hope he keeps riding—I still owe him some money.🙄

That's why I said I felt like we knew each other.😁
Heh. Well, who knows? Maybe he'll like it there and decide to stay.😁
Paul Patel85 said:I am certain about Petra, I'm sure 🙂
This video was filmed by Hrvoje from BK krpelj, who posts clips to YouTube, while Davorin is working on a documentary.
I rode with them all the way to Goican, so they gave me a little rundown of everyone's roles along the way.

And I have a feeling we already know each other. 😁
Aha. Fair enough. In that case, I can hardly wait for him to get back. 🙂 Actually, I'm just eager for his return because I need to pick something up. 😁
Paul Patel85 said:Besides maintaining his velocity, Davorin manages to pedal along while filming everything? 🙂

Are you certain? I saw one of the guys' posts, and it looks like he's carrying a camera around.
Even among the cycling crowd, you'll find Velocity Davorin 🙂

At this point, there’s really nothing left to do but finalize plans for an expedition down route I-10.🙂

Betty Edwards22 said:What's the age limit for a minor traveling out of the country alone?

Under 14, they need parental consent if they aren't accompanied; after 14, it isn't strictly required, though still recommended. It really depends on which country you're heading to.

analogmaker5 said:The shortest, fastest, and easiest route is from Naperville via the old roads through Smalltown, USA, Port, Smalltown, USA, Smalltown, USA, Smalltown, USA, Savannah, Smalltown, USA, Smalltown, USA, and finally route I-10 🙂. The biggest climb would be near Smalltown, USA, sitting at about 300 meters, so the terrain is mostly flat with just a few small hills. Going through Stowe takes longer and the terrain is more demanding.

Have you actually ridden it? The mileage is roughly the same, around 62 miles because once you pass Smalltown, USA, you have to take side roads to reach the destination, since the road leading to the interstate is off-limits for bikes—I saw the sign when I was passing through by bus or car recently. I know the way to Stowe; it isn't particularly hilly. I'm not sure about the stretch afterward, but looking at the map, it seems fine as you pass through an intersection in Smalltown, USA. Either way, both routes are worth a shot.🙂

Drew Miller38 said:Trying to push them will be a Sisyphus task, but who knows? Maybe I'll manage, and I might even get to meet you all along the way. 😁

So, are they actually driving or what? 🙂 So you just head out without them? Is that the plan? 🙂

Besides, I won't be heading out on my own before I turn 20 anyway. 😉

So, if we settle on a group ride, you’re coming with us. If a junior ceramicist can handle leading the way through Canada, surely you can manage? Even your parents could tag along if they wanted to. 🙂

??? You didn't get banned from the EU, did you? 🙂
fadedcrane36, it's about 68 miles only a few hours from Naperville, so consider if you really want to make that round trip in a single day. Or would it be better to stay overnight and maybe drive around the area? (Perhaps that excursion spot the tile guy mentioned might work.)
Biking route I-95 in Cycling ·
You could take Route 1 through Naperville, then hit Route 2 toward Stowe before crossing over into Canada. From there, it’s just following Route 3 all the way to Maribor. The stretch toward Stowe isn't exactly a heavy traffic zone, and I can't say much about the roads in Canada, though riding a bike there is pure bliss. Isn't cycling just the best? 🙂
Unfortunately, I’m sitting this one out today because of my leg 😢 though I really would have loved to get out for a stroll and catch up with the crew...
rowdybadger41 said:So, who’s actually showing up?
I'm in, provided someone gives me a time.

Are you hanging around the West Coast? I'll make the trip if my tendon stops acting up—fingers crossed. Even if I have to drive with just my left foot and use the right one only for pulling.🙂
What happened to the group? Where did Patrick King7 and Eric Cruz5 go? It looks like the West Coast crew just vanished into thin air. Heh.
@Eric Cruz5/">@@Eric Cruz5, good luck. I’d love to head out to Columbus myself, but it’s just not in the cards. I guess I'll settle for a protest ride and maybe another beer at the Santa Monica Pier like last time.🙂
