A perfect example of that is AC/DC—well, specifically how some newer groups try to mimic them. You have to actually find your own identity and move forward, because honestly, who on earth needs yet another clone of AC/DC, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath? It's just redundant. And speaking of redundancy, here's another one for you, this time coming out of Sweden—though it feels like over the last year or two, I've stumbled upon about fifty different Swedish bands that all seem obsessed with that specific 70s vibe, where everyone sounds virtually identical with nothing more than a tiny, negligible shade of difference between them. These particular guys are leaning hard into that early British heavy metal aesthetic. So far, they've put out three albums:
So, I finally sat down and actually listened to the Second Assault full album from start to finish. It’s one of those listens that just kind of lingers in the back of your mind, you know? Not something that screams for attention with flashy production, but more of a slow burn. It’s got that certain weight to it—that specific atmosphere that makes you feel like you're sitting in a dimly lit basement bar somewhere in Chicago while the rain hits the pavement outside. Just a very steady, grounded vibe that doesn't try too hard to be anything other than what it is.
And I’ve also been listening to that new album that just dropped a few days ago. Writing on the Wall
The vocals sound absolutely incredible. 👍
