Newer old-school hard rock bands - recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone might be willing to share some recommendations for younger bands playing that classic hard rock sound—you know, the kind of stuff reminiscent of Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin. I’m open to anything at all, whether they're local acts here in the States or from overseas... as long as they capture that specific 1970s hard rock essence.
Additionally, I've been trying to find reliable sources for news regarding this genre. It seems like there is an endless sea of forums and websites dedicated entirely to metal, yet when it comes to actual hard rock, everything feels a bit sparse. If anyone happens to have some useful links or sites they frequent, would you mind dropping them here?🙂

If you're looking for a starting point, I’d highly recommend checking out Graveyard, a killer hard rock outfit that formed back in 2006.
Their first two records, Graveyard and Hisingen blues, really hit the mark for me—honestly, I think they’re exactly what you’re hunting for.

You might also want to dig into some of the more recent American rock bands. There's a lot of great stuff out there right now; plenty of groups are leaning into that classic, retro sound, which feels like a rare gem in today's music scene.

But man, this band is absolutely fantastic because they lean so heavily into that Zeppelin sound without being a total tribute act, they just capture that specific style perfectly, which is honestly just great, truly great.

I’m not really a fan of bands that just try to live in the past through their sound. Don't get me wrong, drawing inspiration from your idols is fine, but this whole thing where they just clone a specific style? It feels like they're just another glorified cover band and nothing more. Take AC/DC, for example—they're basically the blueprint everyone tries to mimic. You've gotta have your own identity and actually move forward, because honestly, who needs yet another carbon copy of AC/DC, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath? And speaking of clones, here’s another one, this time out of Sweden. I feel like in just the last year or two, I’ve stumbled across maybe 50 different Swedish bands that all lean heavily on that 70s vibe; they all sound pretty much identical, just with tiny little tweaks here and there. These guys specifically are chasing that early British heavy metal sound. So far, they've put out three albums:

and then there's the new one that just dropped a few days ago, Writing on the Wall

Honestly, I can barely think of more than two or three bands that actually rip off Deep Purple, and even those were mostly from the '70s. 😁
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind when a band plays in someone else's style, but it really gets under my skin when they all just copy the exact same legends. It's always the same old story—everyone's doing Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, or AC/DC. I'd much rather see a group actually channeling some Uriah Heep, Rainbow, UFO, or Thin Lizzy...

So, I finally sat down and actually listened to the Second Assault full album from start to finish. It’s one of those listens that just kind of lingers in the back of your mind, you know? Not something that screams for attention with flashy production, but more of a slow burn. It’s got that certain weight to it—that specific atmosphere that makes you feel like you're sitting in a dimly lit basement bar somewhere in Chicago while the rain hits the pavement outside. Just a very steady, grounded vibe that doesn't try too hard to be anything other than what it is.

Alright, here's a few more picks from Sweden. Like I said before, if you're into those newer bands that basically live and breathe that 70s vibe, you really need to dig into the Swedish scene.

Abra Kadavar - ''Abra Kadavar''

Orchid - Mouths of Madness and man, you can feel Black Sabbath in every single track. Every riff just screams it.

The Devil's Blood - The time of no time Evermore These guys are Dutch, I guess. They might actually pass the test for me, but honestly? Nothing groundbreaking or different there.

Black Pyramid - Black Pyramid (2009) This one is top tier for me. 👍 Their other stuff? Not even half as good, if I'm being real.

Blood of the Sun - ris fra the Underground and Blood of the Sun - bad Love Someone mentioned earlier that you can never get enough of bands that rip off Deep Purple, so here’s an American band, Blood of the Sun. You can definitely hear the Uriah Heep and Humble Pie influence too. I've got three of their albums, and they're pretty solid.

Cosmos - in the dark of the Night These guys are actually kind of cool. Every time I play this album for someone, they think they're listening to some unreleased Pink Floyd tracks. I only have their Skygarden (2006) album, but if you're a fan of the Floyd types, you should probably grab it.
And finally, Witch - Witch (2006) and Witch - Paralyzed (2008) look, these guys are special to me. They're genuinely dear to my heart. I never get tired of them; I could listen to them forever, I guess. 🙏🙏🙏
That's about all I can think of for now.

Formed back in 2007 over in Vancouver, this band actually took their name from a Mott the Hoople album (which, by the way, I highly recommend). They’ve put out two albums so far: Mad shadow - Mad shadow (2008) and Mad shadow - heavy blues (2013). Honestly, the second you hear that first note, it’s pretty obvious who they're ripping off, and it's pretty damn obvious too. Still, I guess I have a soft spot for them. Maybe it's just nostalgia, or who knows what else 🤷

This American band has dropped two albums so far—Mount Carmel (2009) and Real Women (2012)—and honestly, they’re both killer. Their sound kind of pulls from all the heavy hitters, you know?
