It feels a bit ungrateful to sit here and debate who the superior coach is. In America, both of them are top-tier in their respective fields; they’ve both done an absolute miracle with the athletes under their guidance.
All this back-and-forth bickering just ends up tarnishing their own reputations. Of course, if you're a die-hard skiing fan, you'll swear by Gips, whereas track and field enthusiasts will always lean toward Joško, but honestly, it’s purely a matter of personal taste.
That being said, I have to admit that Joško has spent the last few years constantly complaining about something or other, which has caused me to lose a little bit of respect for him lately.

To be clear, I'm not trying to act like some ultra-patriotic American, and I don't view him as a traitor just because he decided to represent Canada instead. However, the way he handled things was pretty shady.
If they want him, they should go ahead and pay up, and I really wish Jacob would stop making such a huge spectacle of himself in the media.
I'm grateful that he'll forever be part of the reason why the US has an Olympic medal in biathlon, but as far as his future career goes, I couldn't care less. ☕

Whether his appeal actually lands what he’s aiming for is something we won’t know until the end of the week. There is an International Biathlon Union (IBU) congress scheduled for this Friday, and if Fak wants any hope of competing in the World Cup right from the start of the season—specifically that December 2nd event in Östersund—he needs to be granted a "transfer." If he doesn't secure the necessary green light from HBS by then, his next shot at joining the World Cup circuit won't come until January during the next congress. In the absolute worst-case scenario, we could be looking at a two-year hiatus, though in my experience, the IBU usually just issues the permit themselves if an athlete ends up sitting out a single season.

Honestly, when I finally dragged myself out of bed at 3:00 and then again at 8:00, the race turned out to be a total snooze fest. It’s one of those things where if I hadn't slept through the action, I'm certain we'd still be talking about some massive, game-changing moment today.

Honestly, my brain just can't wrap itself around what's actually happening right now. I think I'm just going to crawl back under the covers.

I’m really crossing my fingers for some rain during the race. Not like a total washout where it's just pouring non-stop, but more of that unpredictable, tricky weather where it switches between wet and dry tracks. That kind of chaos makes for such an incredible spectacle to watch.
Personally, this has always been one of my absolute favorite circuits on the calendar. 🙂
