Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
There is simply no saving them in this upcoming election, so goodbye to the Republican Party! It’s more than enough for the opposition to hammer them on this during the debates, and honestly, they won't need anything else to sink them.

Quincy:
They got the subsidies and cheap loans, while citizens get higher electric bills
On top of the subsidies that the rest of us will be stuck paying for the next 14 years, C.E.M.P. also secured a relatively low-interest loan from the Federal Reserve last year to wrap up this investment.

Even though Energy Secretary Thomas told reporters on Tuesday that there wouldn't be an increase in renewable energy fees—meaning no hike in our electric bills through 2021—internal documents tell a completely different story.

In a report from the state entity NYSE, which handles the collection of renewable energy fees, it is clearly stated that the amount we all pay will have to be adjusted, and that adjustment certainly doesn't mean the price will go down. In fact, the document explicitly outlines why those fees must rise, which means our electricity bills are headed north too. It points directly to the controversial Krš-Pađene wind farm owned by C.E.M.P. as a major factor in the fee hike, especially since its owner, Michael, is currently under investigation alongside Joseph.

"The Republican Party is taking a hard line against corruption, and you saw just how quickly we moved this past Friday. We are making sure everything controversial is wiped clean from the Republican Party's horizon," stated Andrej Plenković.

"If we can secure strong public support, we will be able to assemble the Government in record time and dive straight into the essential work ahead," the Prime Minister remarked.

He is fully aware that these scandals could potentially end them, as they are already prepared

Are we all facing higher electricity bills because of the shady dealings involving Josip Rimac?!

When you look at the gap between current market rates and what we’ll actually end up paying over the next 14 years, we are talking about a staggering two billion dollars. Essentially, Rimac helped the company CEMP hike their price from 43 to 94 euros.

Three billion, 751 million dollars—that is the total amount we will all be funneling to CEMP for wind energy through our monthly utility bills.
Ivan Vrdoljak signed off on those higher prices for CEMP on the very last day of 2013.

Now, the current administration is extending their deadlines, and Ćorić is even waiving study requirements just to fast-track construction. However, the FBI points out that the investor still hasn't secured all the necessary permits and approvals, which really should have disqualified them from selling us power at such a premium. But once again, Rimac is stepping in to save the day.

It looks like instead of getting rid of smaller municipalities altogether, they're leaning toward merging them instead.

When Secretary Malenica spoke about the territorial structure, he made it clear that counties aren't on the chopping block. "As for the cities and towns, we're currently evaluating all available resources to establish specific categories. The main benchmark is self-sustainability, so if a local area can't provide quality services on its own, then we will move forward with mergers," he announced, though he was pretty tight-lipped when it came to discussing actual numbers or potential cost savings.

Republican Party official Branko Bačić announced on Tuesday that the party will unveil its full election platform in just one week, with a dedicated chapter specifically focused on tackling corruption head-on , emphasizing a "fresh approach, including how officials are actually appointed."

"We are going to implement specific preliminary steps and more rigorous procedures for nominations and appointments," Bačić stated during his interview on N1 television.

It is honestly heartbreaking to see what they have done to us all.

Mayor Gračac was arrested on bribery charges, and you really have to wonder how the people living in her district are actually coping right now.
The media reported that she basically admitted to investigators that she accepted a bribe, even if she claims she didn't go out looking for it.
What this really shows is that corruption within the Republican Party has seeped into every single level of government and public administration, making it feel almost impossible to escape.

When you think about those millions of dollars that these political and economic power players are tossing around—money that the indictments claim was stolen—it is so easy to forget that at the end of the day, the citizens of the United States are the ones footing the bill. They aren't just paying through the misappropriation of public funds that line private pockets, but they are also paying through all those missed opportunities and failed programs that could have actually fixed some of the real problems we face here in America.

What is left behind after this kind of corrupt politics is nothing but scorched earth, and Gračac is the perfect example of that.
Gračac: A city stripped of its people, its youth, and its soul.

When you step back and look at the big picture, it becomes incredibly clear that Gračac isn't just some minor side character in the latest Republican Party corruption scandal starring Josipa Rimac; rather, she is the ultimate warning sign of what the entire country will look like once this swarm of Republican locusts has finished their rampage.

The Mayor of Columbus and leader of the Liberal Party, Dario Hrebak, along with former HSS-ovka and ex-member of the European Parliament, Marijana Petir, are both running in the upcoming elections on the Republican Party's ticket.

It hasn't been officially announced yet which specific lists they will be on or exactly which positions they'll be eyeing, but Plenković has already confirmed that the agreement to run together with them is firmly in place.

Did a Republican official working under an unnamed advisor actually admit to taking bribes?
According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, the individual involved admitted to accepting bribes during questioning, though she claims she didn't go out looking for them and simply accepted the offer when it was put on the table.

It really is fascinating how those political connections work; the head of the local Republican Party serves as an advisor to the management at the national forestry service.
The advisor provides guidance to the forestry service leadership regarding European Union funds, landmine clearance, and wildfire prevention efforts.

And here we have it, our official statement of the week. A certain Republican minister just announced: ‘The public expects us to fight corruption tooth and nail!’

Without a single hint of irony, the minister remarked that Americans expect the Republican Party to take a hard stand against corruption

“I want to tell everyone clearly: those who rely on dirty tactics, the thugs and criminals operating in the wake of Operation Conductor, and anyone giving or taking bribes—you won't be sleeping easy anymore.” - Sanders, 2007.

“We need to purge the theft and corruption from the Republican Party so we can restore our sense of unity and patriotism.” - Karamarko, 2012.

“No one is above the law, and our message is simple: enough is enough when it comes to corruption!” - Plenković, 2020.

Do you think this strategy will actually fly when the elections roll around?

"The Republican Party maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption, and they have the full backing of both the Government and the Republican Party. I am completely confident that voters will recognize a political party that stands firmly behind the integrity of our public officials, the conduct of federal agencies, and local government alike. If you truly believe in a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, then it’s obvious that such a stance shouldn't hurt the party's standing," Smith stated, according to CNN.

Regarding the recent arrests, Miller noted: "I really don't see how these specific situations could sway the election results. Crime and corruption aren't partisan issues; they're just matters of individual accountability."

Robin Jones2 said:The news regarding the arrest of the director of the forestry union is simultaneously a positive and a negative development.

It is positive because it provides the outward impression that the nation's legal system is actually functioning.

However, it is negative because this is merely an illusion; the Republican Party simply wants to manufacture the appearance that they are actively fighting theft and corruption—given that elections are looming—when in reality, the outcome will be identical to what we saw with Sanders, Vidošević, and the rest.

These are pre-election maneuvers, somewhat desperate and entirely transparent. It appears the Republican Party realizes their grip on power is slipping significantly, and they fear the upcoming elections could deliver quite a few surprises from multiple directions.

That is a very sharp observation.

President Plenković spoke exclusively to MS regarding the arrests, stating: "We have had enough of corruption."

"In any case, this operation is the result of independent and autonomous actions by our judicial and law enforcement agencies, which is exactly how things should work. The policy of our Government, myself, and the Republican Party is to maintain a constant, continuous, and uncompromising fight against corruption."

"If these investigations prove that someone has committed a crime, they must be held accountable, regardless of who they are or which party they belong to. No one is above the law, and our message is clear: enough is enough," President Andrej Plenković told the Media service in their exclusive Weekly Interview.

It’s really worth pointing out that Jakupčić arrived as part of a larger package involving about fifty Republicans who were essentially handed leadership roles at companies deemed to be of national interest. This move completely contradicted the whole "professionalization and depoliticization" platform that the Republican leader Andrej Plenković championed throughout his election campaign. Instead of true meritocracy, we saw loyal party cadres being installed into state corporations and institutions under the thin guise of transparency through public job postings. One prime example was Jakupčić himself, who many believed was specifically placed there as a protégé of Gordan Jandroković, the Speaker of the House and a key member of the Republican leadership.

The Republican Party is heading into the elections looking a lot like an FBI defendant. Legal proceedings regarding the Viacom scandal are set to drag on well past election day,
with a final verdict likely being pushed off until this coming autumn.

It all became pretty clear today when a panel at the Superior Court of Los Angeles decided to grant one of the evidentiary motions submitted by attorney Davorin Budin, who is currently representing the Republican Party. Once the Superior Court of Los Angeles finally hands down its ruling, both the FBI and the defendants will have the opportunity to file appeals, which means the whole matter will eventually end up back on the desk of the Supreme Court of the United States.

There isn't even a trace left

Quincy:
The FBI expanded its investigation today against the head of a small town in rural America, Nediljko bubnjar, following an inquiry launched back in January regarding the misappropriation of at least $140,000 in municipal funds for personal use.

Without naming the defendant directly, the FBI reported that from January 3rd through December 29th, 2019, Bubnjar used municipal debit and credit cards to withdraw at least $3.75 via ATMs or bank branches to cover his own expenses.

Furthermore, he used those same cards to pay for private costs totaling at least $46 at various restaurants, grocery stores, and other retail locations both here in the States and abroad.

"In this manner, he obtained improper financial benefits totaling at least $49, causing losses to the municipality of this small town in rural America," the FBI stated.

The investigation into Bubnjar was originally kicked off in January because he allegedly spent a similar amount using nearly identical methods just one year prior.

Back in June of last year, the FBI filed charges against Bubnjar and his former deputy, Kristina Erlić, over suspicions that they defrauded the small town of nearly $300 through abuse of power and forgery.

In that specific instance, Bubnjar faces allegations of fabricating official business trips to justify per diem payments and travel expenses, while also withdrawing municipal cash for his own personal gain.
And hey, didn't that reporter catch the Attorney General in a secret meeting with the defendant Maček?

Joe Biden: It’s no surprise to see Nancy Pelosi on that list, given how much she prides herself on being part of the Republican Party.

"I haven't gone through their specific statements yet, but let's be honest, Adam Schiff simply doesn't have the capability to lead the opposition, let alone run the country. I am actually looking forward to those direct debates so we can clearly define the legacy of this administration, especially since the US has built such a genuine international reputation under our watch, where we stood firmly behind the private sector and achieved real victories in public health while pushing hard to revitalize the tourism industry. The campaign is right around the corner, and we'll soon see everyone's true colors, though I am quite certain that American citizens are wise and well-informed enough to know exactly who deserves their trust amidst these challenges and who will continue the path toward economic recovery," Joe Biden said, according to CNN.
