rustydrifter10 said:There was actually a ton of debate about lifting his ban, but it’s not just about him making endless burner accounts—it’s also about how he carries himself while using them. From what I can tell, he keeps spinning up new profiles constantly, which is pretty much a dead giveaway that he has zero intention of changing his ways. That’s just my takeaway after sitting through a lot of back-and-forth regarding him.

Look, I'll be real with you, I used to hang out with him over on BB so I know the deal: every single one of those burner accounts sounded exactly like his original
handle, and he never even tried to hide it. Every new account gets nuked specifically for ban evasion, not because of
what he's actually posting.

As long as this site operates on double standards and the mods keep looking the other way when their "favorites" start cloning themselves,
he’s gonna keep doing it. If anyone wants to show they actually have the willpower to change things, it should be the admins and mods who
keep letting their golden boys slide.

I find myself asking the same thing over and over again, both to you and the rest of the mod team:
seriously, please just tell me, are we all equal here as members of this American forum? And if we aren't, who gets more leeway?
And why?

The whole forum is gone, just a massive permanent ban. I mean, if that isn't some kind of cosmic joke, I don't know what is. ☕

rustydrifter10 said:Look, I can't give you the exact reason why Smith got banned because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger on it, and I don't know all the gritty details of the case. But from what I gather, it wasn't just about how many burner accounts he made—you can't just point at other people to justify it—it was more about how he actually used those clones and his whole vibe while doing it. Plus, I'm pretty sure it’s already been explained to him a few times why the ban isn't being lifted. If you want the real scoop, the mods whose threads he messed up can weigh in, or you can just check his thread on the main US forum again.

He was using those clone accounts to post on the forum, specifically in the TV/Reality section.
Doing it in that classic forum style, you know, acting like one of those "elite" members.

Smith has been told several times now that being a VIP member is one thing,
but that doesn't mean the rules don't apply to everyone.
Obviously, hearing that is a tough pill to swallow.

@Steven Reed, "every situation is different. Forget about the guys in Jersey, forget about Murmilla, forget about
Bob...is Smith really the only scapegoat on this whole American forum?
Whatever names you drop, Smith deserves an exception too."

Elizabeth Anderson63 said:Look, I’m totally on board with letting FictionSmith explain himself. Honestly, I think he deserves a second chance, especially if his reason for being banned wasn't actually about being offensive or whatever (if my memory serves me right, at least).

Well, your memory serves you pretty well then. He doesn't really go around insulting people; that's just not how he talks. 🙂

I just ask that we don't drag the Zidić crew into this whole "clone" accusation thing, because that whole situation is way more complicated than it looks, and honestly, we've dragged it out across the forum way too many times over the last year and a half. Seriously, I'm tired of the constant bickering and nitpicking about it. The perms were removed, the reasons they were handed out were what they were, and that's that. If those former female users who got permabanned can move past it, then there's really no point in dragging this old drama back into the light.

edit: Ben, you're a 503 🙂 🙂

Personally, I'm not a fan of calling anyone out, and I really feel like everyone should have the right to
one more shot. But if we make exceptions for certain people, it starts looking like the rules of this
whole forum were basically written just for FictionSmith.

rustydrifter10 said:Yeah, they totally should. Everyone who gets banned deserves an actual explanation as to why it happened.

So if that's the rule, why didn't anyone bother giving FictionSmith anything besides a "you're permanently banned" response? And why does everyone just ignore
his questions about those privileged three-digit clones—you know, the ones who are allowed to post all over the forum today while he’s stuck out in the ban corner?

Posts shouldn't be deleted just because they call out how the admins run things. If they're being wiped, it's probably because of the tone used, not the actual criticism.

In his threads over in the corner that kept getting nuked, the only thing "problematic" was the stuff
he posted showing exactly how those three-digit clones talk, and his
pointing out how those long-time privileged clones are active everywhere while the original accounts are sitting in the ban corner.
Even after all that, his posts were still wiped.

Since cloning is the whole reason he's not allowed to post here, why
won't anyone actually answer his questions instead of just constantly deleting his stuff?

rustydrifter10 said:Look, if you feel like a specific topic is missing from a subforum where it doesn't belong, feel free to start a thread right here. You can lay out your reasoning, and then the mods or the admin team will take a look at your suggestion. Just don't go thinking a new thread is a guarantee, but if they decide against it, they'll tell you why.

But shouldn't that same rule—you know, the one in bold—apply to people who've been permabanned without even getting an explanation?

I mean, seriously... why is it that on this forum, you aren't allowed to openly talk about admins or mods abusing their power? Every time someone tries to bring that up, the posts just get nuked instantly.
FictionSmith and the other spammers in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Why on earth are you guys deleting him? All he's doing is asking for some actual reasoning behind the call. 🤷

Some people actually messed up, broke the rules, and owned it, while others just keep being annoying, rude, and acting like total spammers on the Holy Crusaders forum.

It wasn't even boring or rude or spammy—it was smart, funny, and actually entertaining.

I mean, he never tried to hide what he was doing, whereas there were plenty of folks who never even bothered to apologize, yet those same users
are still walking around this forum like nothing happened. ☕
Dealing with some jerk of a user who can't even keep his mouth shut in a crappy BB thread for three days and then refuses to take his punishment ☕.
On top of that, his posts in that spammy thread 🤣 (the BB chat) were pure garbage.
Even his trolls were basically spammers, dropping dozens of posts an hour. 🤣

The BB stuff is trash by default, so why would you expect anything else from the thread? You've got an FS member who's been here for six years talking about literature, movies, art...
but I guess that doesn't matter to the people whose entire personality is built around mindless reality TV.

And honestly, calling someone out for spamming in a thread that's *already* a spam fest feels pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
It’s a real shame the forum lost him.

Facts.
If ZgSash were here right now, he’d probably slap a ban on me for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong, delete this whole post, this thread, and every other topic that’s been dragging on forever lately.

If ZgSash were around, I bet he’d at least be consistent. It’s either bans for everyone or no one. And don't even get me started on the whole cloning thing...
Honestly, they should just declare amnesty over. Whatever was promised is done, and that's that 🙂 (and then just strictly forbid anyone from bringing up the amnesty talk again 🤣).

As long as there are mods willing to play favorites and protect certain "VIP" members, we're going to keep seeing unfair bans.

The best way forward would be to make sure the criteria for pulling privileges are the exact same for everybody.
At least then it wouldn't feel like some decisions are just personal vendettas. ☕

I don't want to spend my whole day cluttering up everyone else's threads, so I was thinking... maybe the mods could do us all a favor? Like, since they caught their mistake earlier this morning and realized
that faspy isn't actually some clone of fictionSmith, maybe they could take a second look at their call regarding the Sharxtreme - Elvis case.
FictionSmith and the other spammers in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I mean, the admin team’s decision wasn't exactly a shocker, but man, it would’ve been a nice gesture if we actually got a real, logical explanation as to why he isn't getting his privileges back,
especially since he basically walked away from his mistakes without any real consequence.

Maybe if things were handled differently, he’d stop constantly cluttering up the corner with those endless threads
just fishing for a reaction or some kind of handout
from the mods.
FictionSmith and the other spammers in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, he got slapped with a three-day ban and just couldn't wait it out, so he went ahead and made a clone. 😁
That’s basically how this whole mess started. Look, just unban him like you did all those other
clones people were racking up while they were sitting out their bans.

Rules should be rules, right? They need to apply to everyone, whether you're handing out permissions or taking them away. 👍

And for God's sake, please just lift the ban on Faspy—he's seriously not FictionSmith.
It’s pretty obvious from up here. 🤣🤣
the Sharxtreme case in Feedback & Suggestions ·
casualharbor9 said:So, I guess I’m not the only one who caught that weird little anomaly (fingers crossed it's just me) in the Sharxtreme case—you know, where someone gets banned because they might just be a clone of a banned user (or "—if they aren't, then they just have an equally ridiculous way of posting"—?). And in the actual ban explanation, they basically suggest he just open a new profile (seriously?!) "which will be under increased supervision."

You aren't alone there.
I've noticed this too... back when the old guard was running things, the vibe on this forum was basically
"guilty until proven innocent." The Sharxtreme - Elvis case is the perfect example of that mindset.
It makes me wonder, if we're all talking about these "new changes," why isn't it being assumed that
it's finally time to ditch that whole nonsensical rule?

Also, I kind of want to hijack this thread because the "Questions for Admin" section has basically turned into a place just for discussing signatures,
avatars, and other technical fluff, so it doesn't really feel like the right spot to ask the higher-ups
some actual questions.

Anyway, I’m curious: what criteria are actually used when deciding to amnesty permanent bans, and why does it feel like
the rules aren't applied equally to everyone?
And why does it seem like fictionSmith's threads in the corner get wiped constantly whenever a guy asks legitimate questions about
why he hasn't been given a second chance either? His "sins" don't look any bigger
than anyone else's, especially looking at some of the links found in other people's threads—their stuff looks way
worse, honestly.

I mean, you've got people getting amnestied who have clearly cycled through enough clones to hit triple digits,
yet that didn't stop them from being let back in, even though that exact number was apparently Tyndall's reason for denying his own ban review.
Not to mention the Sharxtreme member who didn't even do anything wrong in the first place.

I really hope I'm wrong here, but I can't help feeling like having private friendships with the mods
is the real deciding factor, while the actual offense barely matters. It’s like it doesn't matter what you actually write
on the forum as long as your avatar is a decent size and you have a well-designed signature.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

I’m all for this. 🙏

Seriously, can someone please take a look at what happened here?
This guy is honestly one of the nicest people on this whole site, and I really feel
like he deserves a fair shot to prove himself.

Just give him his damn badge back. 🙂
