Ugh, something weird is going on with me... First, my OB-GYN told me I had chronic yeast infections (which they linked to some thyroid issues), so I went all in on probiotics. For a while, everything was totally fine. But lately, this thick white discharge is back, my lower abdomen is aching, and I’m constantly running to the bathroom (though it doesn't feel like a typical UTI, and I know what those feel like, so this feels different)... A couple of days ago, I went back to the doctor because I thought it was fungus again, and she just shoved that gross speculum in there, told me the discharge wasn't fungus, and didn't even bother looking under a microscope!!! Seriously, give me a break... What are the symptoms of having too many lactobacilli, and what could this be if nothing is itching or burning, but I have all these other pains??? I'm so lost. Is it actually possible for them to cause abdominal pain? Aren't lactobacilli supposed to be the good guys? Okay, yeah, I am super confused... and I really can't stand doctors who are just superficial and lazy when it comes to fungal stuff...
Hey there!
So—I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to get my adrenal glands checked out...
Basically, I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and on top of that, I’m constantly dealing with these recurring urinary tract infections. From everything I’ve read online (not that I’m a doctor or anything...), it feels like these two things might actually be linked by some underlying issue with my adrenal glands... So, I really want to take the initiative and run some tests to see if that's what's going on. My big questions are: where should I go to get this done (like, through my regular primary care doctor or at a private clinic?), and what specific tests should I even be asking for regarding adrenal hormones to cover all my bases...
Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to help me out with this... 🙂

One thing that happened to me was getting those dark circles under my eyes and even feeling this weird pressure right under them. But there's also the chance you might be allergic to something like pollen, dust, perfume, or even mascara... there's honestly so much stuff out there you wouldn't even believe it. So, definitely go see an ENT specialist and get a proper exam, then they can point you in the right direction!
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. I'm not allergic to anything, so it's pretty obvious the deviated septum is the main problem here... it feels a lot better knowing someone else dealt with the same issues. I've got an appointment with the ENT on November 22nd, so we'll just see how things go...🙂😉
Hey, can someone please tell me if a deviated septum could actually cause stuff like pressure under the eyes, dark circles, or that burning sensation in your eyes... I’m asking because I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this, but with my constant colds, clogged ears, and stuffed-up nose, I've got all these symptoms too, and honestly, they're bothering me even more than the breathing issues... Thanks to all the good souls on here for helping me out.
Donna Johnson16 said:did you go for that X-ray using a referral from your primary care doctor, an ENT specialist, or did you just head to a private clinic and pay out of pocket? was this like, fifteen years ago, or more recent?...
as for your other question—at public hospitals, basically major medical centers, you can get septoplasty done if you're having functional issues (which Medicare covers), and then you just pay extra for the cosmetic part they do at the same time... it's totally legit, they have set price lists for that.
with a private clinic, they'll handle both the function and the aesthetics in one single procedure, everything is bundled into the price 🙂—but nobody here has mentioned a private clinic that actually works that way with health insurance
...
I haven't been on the forum for quite a while... lately I've just been going through Medicare (for the ENT, for X-rays), I had my sinus X-ray recently, and I just got an appointment scheduled with the ENT for November 22nd (considering I was already there a year ago and they gave me Avamys which just makes my nose bleed, gross, and doesn't even help me breathe better). thanks for the reply, I didn't realize they had price lists for the cosmetic side too—so who should I actually see? I feel like the nose really needs to match the face, I definitely don't want them turning it into a potato, since I don't need a huge correction.
I was asking about that "public-private mix" at the clinics because, honestly, I feel safer going to a private place, though I don't even know why private clinics give me that much sense of security... hmm.

I was wondering if a deviated septum could actually be the culprit behind everything I've been dealing with lately... like the stinging in my eyes, that clogged feeling in my ears, just constant fatigue, and obviously the breathing issues... specifically the eye irritation and this weird pressure under my eyes, along with these dark circles that definitely weren't there before... anyway, please let me know what you guys think... 🙂

It’s just how the body works, and honestly, everything from your hormones to random inflammation can mess with it...
When we talk about surgery, specifically for a deviated septum, you're really just clearing out the physical blockage that the lady above mentioned... But if you have issues with nasal dynamics because of uneven cavities or maxilla deformities, things might actually feel better once that obstruction is gone...
The thing is, neither surgery nor meds can truly "cure" those permanent changes to the lining that people usually call chronic rhinosinusitis...
hey I have a question for everyone—my doctors are insisting that my dark circles, watery eyes, clogged ears, fatigue, and constant colds are all coming from a deviated septum... is that even possible?! I never suspected that because I've been using Awamys, and my sinus scans looked fine even though my nose felt totally stuffed up... they say I need surgery now, so does anyone know any private clinics or maybe some public-private hybrid hospitals in the States that would do this for free if I get a nose job at the same time? (I've wanted to fix my nose for ages but never cared, but since I have to do this anyway, I might as well handle it all at once)...
Kenneth Walker27 said:Yeah, totally. Honestly, you're probably better off hitting up a private clinic since we all know it’s basically "pay to play"... they'll run whatever tests you want just to keep you happy.
Look, I’m definitely not a doctor or anything, so please just be totally upfront with her about everything you're feeling. If she isn't ordering any follow-up tests, then you should really push for them... if you don't get anywhere with her, just go find another clinic...
GOOD LUCK!
So here’s how things went down today: she gave me the whole nine yards, I can't believe it (probably because I look like a walking corpse)... on top of everything else, she sent me to an eye specialist—went there and turns out it's just conjunctivitis. She also had me get a sinus X-ray—sinuses are perfect, but my nose is completely stuffed up, and she mentioned something about a deviated septum before handing me a referral for an ENT... is it actually possible that the pressure around my eyes and those dark circles under my eyes are coming from a deviated septum? Anyway, I've got an abdominal ultrasound this Friday and I need to get my T4 and TSH levels checked too... it's just such a massive mess of everything, mamma mia 🙂
Kenneth Walker27 said:From what I can tell, you've already been checked for diabetes. Have you ever dealt with issues involving your kidneys, liver, or pancreas? Any kind of abdominal pain? It doesn't have to be constant, just...
Could upper back pain actually be coming from my kidneys?...
And honestly, doctors will probably just send you off for basic blood work; I know from experience that about 90% of them aren't really interested in digging deeper, so... You should ask for a CBC, a full abdominal ultrasound, a hormone panel, and obviously urine tests and a culture🙂 ...
Thanks, that’s seriously the most helpful thing anyone has said here! One more quick question for you, though—I was thinking about booking a private checkup over at a Mayo Clinic facility. Is that a smart move or what? Money isn't really an issue, because you've gotta prioritize your health if you want to... 🙂 I'll ask them for everything, even if I doubt they'll give me the full rundown since they're always swamped with older patients and tend to breeze through us younger folks. Thanks again

but wouldn't I be running a super high fever if that were the case...
Laura Rodriguez18 said:Man, you wouldn't believe the kind of doctors out there these days...🙄
Yeah, doctors are fine for little things like a sore throat, but I can already see them getting all annoyed when I start acting like Dr. House... honestly, besides a basic blood panel, what kind of tests actually make sense to get done? Like, what can you even really tell from a standard CBC anyway... should I maybe go see an eye doctor too? I just have no clue what to do...
Laura Rodriguez18 said:So did you actually make it to the doctor?
What's the word on your tests and everything else...?!
I'm heading back in tomorrow morning... I originally went in because my eyes were all swollen and stinging, so she diagnosed me with conjunctivitis and gave me some drops. My eyes weren't even red though, so the whole diagnosis felt kind of off... I've been using the drops for five days now and nothing has changed. The worst part is just how exhausted I feel and this heavy pressure around my eyes, almost like someone hung weights right under my dark circles, which I never used to have, now I just have these bags under my eyes and honestly I look like a total zombie... She hasn't sent me for any blood work yet.
I’ve been feeling absolutely exhausted for the last month or so... my eyes are super puffy underneath, there's this heavy pressure, and I've got these dark circles and bags appearing out of nowhere. Plus, I've had a low-grade fever hanging around, maybe up to 99 or 100 degrees, and my neck feels swollen while my skin looks, well, kind of grayish... I honestly feel terrible and I'm just lost on what to do next. I used to deal with frequent bladder infections quite a bit, but those actually cleared up right when these nasty symptoms started showing up. It’s making it impossible to function normally. Even though I eat really well and get a solid 8 to 10 hours of sleep, I am still just so incredibly drained... help, does anyone have an idea what this could be? No one in my family has any major health issues, except for my mom who has Hashimoto's. I should mention I've already been tested for diabetes and that was ruled out. Please, if anyone has any thoughts or has dealt with anything similar, let me know...😕
