It’s all about bringing some order to the chaos. I’ve spent enough time around the ER in Oakland to know just how ridiculous things can get. People show up with the most absurd "emergencies" imaginable. I’ve even heard folks straight-up admit they only came to the ER because they didn't feel like following the standard procedure or waiting their turn.
My grandparents both dealt with strokes and heart attacks, and my grandma struggles with lung issues too. We're pretty terrified of catching any viruses, so we try to handle everything through our local clinic. We schedule appointments during the off-peak hours, and the doctor usually fits them in right away.
Besides, you'll find plenty of germs and filth at the ER too.
Maybe this will cheer you up a bit 😁
I've always been into fitness—at one point I was even training semi-pro—but honestly, it never really helped me put on any weight.

But if you start working out, I guess your appetite will pick up and you'll feel better physically. Plus, once you start seeing some muscle definition, you'll probably be more satisfied with how you look. 🙂

Is it because being thin makes you hesitant to meet people, or am I totally misreading things?
I hope I'm wrong about that.
My appetite just went through the roof. At first, I honestly felt like there was this massive hole in my stomach that I just couldn't fill up.
In terms of what I'm eating, the only real change I made was swapping out my usual breakfast pastries for a smoothie made with kefir, oats, and some fruit.

I'm taking Zoloft, which helps manage acid levels. But I guess you shouldn't just start taking stuff on your own.

The tests I've had done include a CBC, thyroid hormone panels, a celiac test, plus a gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
It’s like I wrote this myself.
My doctor sent me for a mountain of tests because she insisted I was underweight. I didn't feel undernourished at all—honestly, I wouldn't have minded losing a few pounds; I was 183 cm tall and only weighed about 121 lbs back then. Turns out, they diagnosed me with gastritis, esophagitis, and GERD. I’d never had any issues before this. I've been on medication, and I finally managed to bulk up to around 132 lbs. I'm eating just like I used to.

I’m looking for info on parking near the Mayo Clinic.
I saw online there's a public garage nearby, but can you actually park inside the hospital grounds? Is it easy to find a spot? And I guess, is it pricier than the public garage?

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, I just wasn't sure where else to ask.

Thanks

We were recently allowed into the hospital grounds because we were driving my 88-year-old grandpa in for surgery, but by 7:15 AM, there was already no space left in the lower lot.
If you're dealing with someone seriously ill, it's probably best to pull into the hospital area, drop them off, and then head back to the garage.

About six months ago, I got a referral for an exam and went straight to the hospital's central scheduling department. They gave me an appointment for six months from now and handed me some printed confirmation. Basically, do I need to get a new referral, or can I just go with the one I already have?

My doctor told me that if the referral is already on file, it’s still good. When I went to the hospital, nobody even asked about it.
But maybe double-check just to be safe.

I guess you could try the major hospitals, maybe Mount Sinai or something in a Suburban neighborhood...
My bad, I guess I wasn't reading closely enough. I'm not sure if the Oakwood facility handles TCD; I just saw the mention of a color Doppler ultrasound and assumed that was the issue.
restlessangler said:That sounds incredibly stupid to me. What am I supposed to do, email every single hospital in the country to see who has the shortest waitlist or if anyone even does this without charging private rates?

They do it at Oakwood, and I'd bet they do it at Rib too since it’s a pretty standard scan.
Maybe they just haven't released next year's schedule yet, which is probably why they told you to check back at the end of the month. I guess that's the only reason that makes sense.

I'm looking for a solid private dermatologist in Washington, D.C. who actually uses a dermatoscope.
What's the deal with Dr. Nola?
Awesome! :-)
So I guess they only need a formal order if you're dealing with plastic manufacturers.
You’ll need one for the abdominal scan.
Did you check your spam folder?

It just hit me that I went through the exact same thing recently. I didn't get a confirmation email either, so I assumed the order failed and ended up doing the whole process twice. Turns out, they just messaged me saying I'd sent the same referral in two different times.

If you don't hear back about an appointment in a day or two, I guess you should just resend it. They're usually pretty fast with this stuff.
If you don't get an automated response, something's probably messed up. It usually shows up within a few minutes.
For general surgery, you can just walk in with a referral, but for any other surgical specialties, you'll need to schedule an appointment first.
Usually, you get an order confirmation within 24 hours, and an automated reply saying they received everything hits your inbox immediately.
But I guess for the general surgery clinic at Dubrava, you don't even need an appointment.
This might be a bit off-topic, but I wasn't sure where else to ask.
When you're doing the fecal occult blood test, do all three samples go into the same little container, or does each one get its own?
Are those the tiny white vials?
Laura Lopez47 said:It’s constant. My nose is always stuffed up, I've got these nagging headaches, and the drainage goes from clear to yellowish. It happens every single day. There just isn't any relief.
My son is three, and he’s not in daycare yet. I don't work in any field that involves small kids, so I don't have much experience there. We went to see an ENT specialist, and his sinus scans came back fine. Allergy tests were negative, too. The doctor just called it non-specific rhinitis. I guess that's all we know for now. 🤦
Maybe I go through one box of antibiotics every two months or so. That is, if I'm actually dealing with a really bad headache and a fever that won't quit.

I've been dealing with this exact same mess for years now. My ENT keeps insisting it's just allergic rhinitis, but then the allergist tells me I don't have any allergies at all—though, I guess he only did that one skin prick test. All my swabs come back clear and my blood work looks perfect. It’s frustrating.
I guess I just don't touch antibiotics for that kind of thing. If the discharge changes color or if those headaches start hitting me every single day, I just stick to corticosteroid sprays instead.
Now my doctor is trying to send me off for a sinus CT, but I’m totally stalling because, honestly, I'm freaking out about it. :-D
So, my doctor actually told me just a few days ago that they're only good for a month.
Not everyone is on vacation right now, you know. :-) Orders are being processed just like they always are.

I think I got the name right, but Dr. Dawidowsky at the Mayo Clinic is great.
