wiredrider9, I guess someone is greasing the palms at those registers, which is probably why you can't stay objective.

This is the second time you've gone out of your way to defend the cashiers...

Noah Perez2 said:One Sunday, the elevator insurance in my building went kaput. It was maybe an hour of labor plus $33 some minor supplies, yet I was slapped with a bill for $110. They called three different technicians—all independent contractors—and not a single one would show up. One was busy prepping lunch, another was mid-coffee break, and the third claimed he’d be glued to the couch all day watching football 😂

This forum is full of actual decent people; over here, you have a crew that actually jumps up on a Sunday to fix excavators and tractors. Honestly, I can't help but admire them without adding a little sarcasm to the mix.

Just imagine. A private contractor decides he isn't working that day. Can you believe that?

I mean, if he doesn't feel like working, he doesn't have to for thirty days. But if he actually wants to work on a Sunday, I guess there's no law stopping him.

I don't see why the government needs to meddle with private businesses when they can manage themselves. Honestly, after they've already squeezed them dry with all those taxes, they still want to step in and dictate what they can or can't do on a Sunday.

I'm looking for an explanation here, because I'm just not following.

Do you honestly think a commentator based at Madison Square Garden in Washington, D.C. is going to just teleport to Miami?

Or maybe you think that same commentator doesn't have to show up at the office on Monday?

wiredrider9 said:I mean, this commentator is on air for 8 hours straight, every single day.

Are you actually against working eight hours, or just work in general? Is two hours fine, but eight is too much?

To the people pushing for a ban on Sunday business hours.

If you’re someone who spends your Sundays watching football, maybe just stop doing that because some politician decided to comment on it. If your internet goes out on a Sunday, don't bother calling customer service. If there's a flood, I guess you can just patch it up yourself.

Start with yourself. Be an example.

As far as the coaching staff goes, they've been pretty much useless since day one.

If the whole world had just shut down for twenty days, quarantine would have actually worked and saved the economy. This current approach is just dragging things out indefinitely.

Two days ago, our infection numbers were higher than they were twenty days ago, yet now we're talking about easing restrictions. Twenty days ago, the only thing we heard was #StayHome.

Why ease up now instead of twenty days ago? 🤷

When this second wave hits, are we going to be told to #StayHome for another month and a half?

What if the virus has mutated by then?

Mortality rates might look low on paper, but for the person actually dying, it's a solid 100%.

btw, I’m actually curious about what the precautions look like for May Day.

brightpilot6 said:But when exactly would we know? How much time would pass before we realize it has mutated for the worse? How many people could get infected in that interim, and what would the true cost of such a gamble be? Would you really feel comfortable signing off on that decision in front of the entire nation, especially when it goes against everything the epidemiologists are advising?

And what happens if they relax the rules like they did before the virus hit, only for it to mutate then?

brightpilot6 said:It’s honestly incredible how much people can ignore what's right in front of them. Everyone acted like they were blindsided, as if they didn't see it coming. When I mentioned that the number of infections was significantly higher than reported, it was met with such disbelief—but really, no shit, Sherlock? We also seem to have developed a collective case of amnesia regarding my previous predictions that the numbers would actually be five, ten, or even a hundred times higher than what we were seeing.

It feels like there isn’t a single WhatsApp group in existence that doesn't contain at least one person who seemingly woke up this morning suddenly convinced that everyone else has lost their minds over some little virus. They walk around with this quiet certainty that if they had been at the helm from the very beginning, they would have handled the whole situation with much more grace and competence than anyone else. 🙏

And so it goes—everything is already settled, and that’s really all there is to say. 🙏

This is also an issue.

The media has loosened up a bit, and some employers basically said enough is enough and got back to business. Milan Bandić ordered everyone at the municipal holdings to get back to work, even if they were just sitting in their offices. Then yesterday, Andrej Plenković mentioned we might start easing restrictions. Honestly, I think people are just fed up with isolation and hearing about the Coronavirus constantly... so I find myself wondering again...

what actually changed compared to twenty days ago?

ruggedjackal46 said:Here I am, caught in the middle of a losing battle. On one side, I’m constantly arguing with those of you who think any precautions at all are overkill, and then I hop onto other social media platforms only to face the crowd insisting we should all be locked indoors until next year. It’s exhausting. Honestly, someone just hand me a mask so I can finally get some peace and quiet. 🤣

What precautions?

Look, I’m all for being careful, but "precautions" would mean seeing a stadium like Maksimir packed with small groups of 5 to 15 people. Instead, you can't even drive from one suburb to another without some kind of permit.

Apparently, 15 people can hang out in a park, yet ten of us can't even play soccer at the local school field.

That’s not being cautious; it's just total nonsense.

brightpilot6 said:Fair enough. Mutation. But what if we keep everything wide open and this still largely mysterious virus undergoes a mutation into something even more lethal, especially given how aggressively it spreads, what exactly is the backup plan then?

If it mutates into something deadlier, then we go into total lockdown.

Like I said before, what we're doing right now is the worst way to handle this.

If something more lethal comes along, are you still pushing for this current approach? Just stay home, but if you absolutely have to go somewhere, then just go.

Joseph Clark37 said:I wonder what the smart guys would say if things had gone the other way. If the measures were weak, inadequate, and resulted in bodies piling up... then the geniuses with their witty jokes about how incompetent the experts were at stopping the pandemic would be getting massive applause again. It’s easy to go to war without offering an alternative or actual solutions. But hey, he's just a journalist in America... a much easier job with zero responsibility compared to those who have to make the tough calls in the moment. But sure... Šprajc is king... Šprajc revealed the truth...🙏

Well, damn.

I think Šprajc is a populist too—he really gets under my skin—but in this specific instance, at least from where I'm sitting, he's right. And yeah, he'd probably sound different if the circumstances were different.

I also agree with Mamić when he says someone would sell their own mother for a paycheck. Just because he's a criminal doesn't mean I have to swallow everything he says.

When it comes to the Coronavirus, we're split into two camps: for and against. That isn't going to change. I can understand why ZZ or you or ruggedjackal46 feel the way you do, but I just don't agree with you.

Honestly, I'm not even going to argue. We've all picked our sides, everyone is digging their heels in, and nobody is willing to budge an inch. Except for Elizabeth Mendoza—welcome to the party.

Monday.

I watched up to the 5th. Maybe I'll finish the rest over the weekend. ☕

Joseph Clark37 said:This was the first documentary I watched that really shows the reality inside a hospital treating European Covid-19. If you have any empathy at all, it's impossible to stay indifferent...

I guess any documentary dealing with illness and medical treatment hits that way. You just can't stay indifferent. Personally, whenever I see stuff like that on TV, I just change the channel. I don't really have the stomach to watch people struggle with any kind of sickness.

So, I think I'll pass.
