The start and the touch alone account for about 0.2-0.3 seconds. He messed up both. That’s all there is to it.

Yep, credit to him. Honestly, with that "penalty," he got off easy compared to the six or seven guys ahead of him who had to deal with that absolute Safety Car chaos...

Nico Rosberg predicted the system (which is total nonsense, by the way—closing the pits because of a Ferrari safety car during normal pit windows is ridiculous) and he'll end up on the podium or something similar...
Even if Felipe Massa had driven a perfect race, Kimi would have still finished 15th just from having to wait for him.
By the way, out of about 20 instances involving safety cars, sudden rain, or other unpredictable chaos (like that tire boycott back at the US Grand Prix), Kimi got screwed in at least 18 of them.
And calling the race for an emergency? Total garbage. Rosberg was five seconds faster than Trulli and barely managed to get past him. 🙏
In my opinion, Lewis Hamilton overtaking him right after giving the spot back to Kimi was the most reckless move I've seen since the days of Michael Schumacher.

They’re legends for a reason. Robert Kubica got stuck in the pits for 12 seconds while they were messing around, then they spent two minutes looking completely lost right after he exited.😛
