Fifth place is basically a win if you ask me, honestly we're right up there with the big dogs, this whole thing was just a warm-up tournament anyway, we definitely didn't have any luck on our side, and let's be real, those refs were totally screwing us over when it came to grabbing a medal

Either he totally choked under pressure, or he was busy throwing hands with his teammates in the locker room. 😁

Man, I hate a defense that's basically just sitting there waiting to see if Goyen decides to show up and block anything at all.
The footwork is nonexistent; everyone's just standing there totally static and clumsy, honestly enough to make you sick.

By the middle of the second half, we were basically drowning, trailing by five and feeling like the other side was scoring from literally anywhere on the court... honestly, that guy looked like he had found a second youth just to tear us apart.
But then, suddenly, our defense kicks in and we start pulling miracles out of thin air—this relatively young squad of ours just fights through two overtime periods in the most incredible way possible.
Yeah, looking back, the current head coach actually put on one of his best performances during that match.😁

Even Drago Vuković couldn't help but joke about it: "Well, I guess it's my turn to buy a round now. Those one or two beers we had actually came in pretty handy!"
Look, if John Doe says Petar Metličić isn't up to the task anymore, you can bet the coach isn't calling him up. If John Doe claims we don't need Denis Špoljarić, then you know the coach won't even bother looking. And if John Doe decides an average player from Washington, D.C. is more valuable to the national team than some top-tier talent playing elsewhere, well, you already know exactly who's going to be getting the call and the playing time. Honestly, if John Doe thinks all it takes for American handball to thrive is having just one single club and one national team, then that's exactly how it's going to play out—just like it has been for the last 20 years.
Nathan Barrett32 said:If we're talking about the Olympics and they aren't happening until 2014, then honestly, I don't see us standing a chance at a medal because Ivana won't be around anymore, and let's be real, this squad is like 50 percent weaker without Ivano Balić leading the way. Now, if you mean the 2012 games, maybe we have a shot, but only if Kopljar gets traded away from Indianapolis by then, because if he does move on, I doubt Gobac would even bother calling him up for the main roster.
And besides all that, I seriously don't get why everyone treats the Olympics like the absolute peak for our athletes when, if you actually look at it, it's arguably the weakest of the three big ones—you've got the Euro, the World Cup, and then the Olympics.
