Right. A small piece of advice here: just settle this through a direct conversation. Looking back at his previous posts on this forum, they haven't been particularly high quality, so there really isn't any need for these ego battles. I suspect you both value your own peace of mind more than these outbursts... best regards. 😁

Can HPV be transmitted through kissing? Honestly, after reading that HPV can be found in the throat and oral cavity, my partner won't even kiss me anymore, let alone anything else (which I get). Today he even warned me to make sure my hands were clean when I was grabbing chocolate, so I wouldn't infect his house via food... I feel like I have the plague... 😢
Secondly, if I do have HPV, I assume I know who I might have caught it from. But I haven't been in contact with the two guys I suspect for quite a while now. I don't know what to do—should I call them and tell them to watch out for their girlfriends if they have anyone...? 🙄

Ugh, I see this debate has turned ugly. I don't intend to jump into that mess, but rather this—you've probably scrolled through enough to know you can't pinpoint exactly where you picked it up, and whether calling former partners makes sense, I honestly don't know until YOU FIND OUT WHAT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE. It might not even be HPV; it could just be some bacteria acting up because your system is out of balance. So, both of you just calm down. You aren't going to pass HPV to anyone via objects you touch; even if you touched yourself and then grabbed chocolate with unwashed hands, HPV DOES NOT LIVE ON FOOD OR OBJECTS. There is a reason it is called Human Papillomavirus—it thrives on human mucous membranes 🙂 damn it. Some studies show it can survive briefly on moist surfaces, but we are talking milliseconds here; someone would literally have to sit directly on that spot (direct skin contact) to catch it, and even then, it’s a stretch. In short, there is almost zero chance of catching HPV if someone a) showers behind you or with you, b) wears your laundry (clean or dirty), or c) sits on the toilet seat after you. Doctors claim they have found HPV in young children, though not necessarily an active infection, which somewhat implies that sexual contact isn't the only way to encounter the virus. However, that isn't fully settled science yet, so for now, it just means HPV has so many strains that it's nearly unavoidable, but not always infectious. Most people don't even realize they have it, and it just clears on its own. Therefore, if you have it in your throat, mouth, gut, or urethra, medically speaking, it doesn't matter at all, because there is absolutely nothing you can do about it unless lesions develop and cause a visible problem. But we can worry about that later; maybe Nibir will hit us soon, or at least some satellite, and then bye-bye HPV 😂 Anyway, ENOUGH about HPV. Go get your swabs and typing done and be done with it. As for the boyfriend... do whatever you feel is best for yourself ☕ side note—getting restful sleep and staying in a low-stress environment is vital for recovery, so get rid of everything that stresses you out, IF YOU EVEN HAVE HPV 😍 good luck

He's my first partner, and then this happens...😢

I am assuming you both are quite young, perhaps in your early twenties... Look, you both need to take a breath and calm down. First off, a positive test does NOT necessarily mean it was caused by HPV. It could be bacterial—ureaplasma, mycoplasma, chlamydia, and so on. Second, even if it is HPV, it can happen to absolutely anyone; most of the time there aren't even symptoms, and it is incredibly transmissible. Theoretically, you could have picked it up through oral sex or even just skin-to-skin contact. There are studies showing HPV present on the fingers of male college students, right under the fingernails, so don't go spiraling trying to figure out exactly how you "caught" it from him... Given that you are his first, while he clearly isn't yours, he objectively should have known there was a risk involved—just like anyone else who engages in sexual activity, which is a completely natural part of life. Furthermore, illnesses occur, much as we might wish they didn't. This doesn't mean he caught anything from you, and even if he did contract HPV, while there is a certain level of risk for men, actual symptomatic cases are far rarer because guys tend to have stronger immune responses and clear the virus faster. If it is HPV, the body can often clear it within a year or two, depending on the strain. Things can get complicated, sure, but there is no need to be a doomsayer—GET YOUR TESTS AND TYPING DONE! In the meantime, focus on building your immunity: exercise, quit smoking, cut back on the alcohol, and get enough sleep. And as difficult as it sounds—try not to panic. If he actually leaves you over this, you'll eventually find someone a bit more grounded...

I have a quick question for the group. I recently ordered contact lenses through an Epic Systems clinic, and they were delivered by mail to my home outside of NYC. To my absolute horror, they arrived tucked inside a random bottle of Complete solution rather than in their original, factory-sealed packaging. ;To me, this feels incredibly unprofessional. Not only did I wait an entire month for them—despite being told it would only take a week—but it feels like they could just toss literally anything in the mail. When you purchase any product, let alone a medical device, you expect it to arrive properly packaged. That’s what guarantees the item is new, undamaged, unused, and actually what you ordered in the first place. Has anyone else dealt with something similar?
