How exactly are you supposed to pay taxes on something that's illegal? You don't pay taxes; you just pay fines.

The Gambling Act

Section 68.
(1) It is prohibited:
2. participating in foreign gambling operations if the wagers are placed within the United States,

Section 73.
(3) A fine ranging from $10,000.00 to $16667 shall be imposed on any individual acting in violation of this prohibition regarding foreign gambling (Section 68.).

Charles Wright said:What’s the actual difference for the bookie if I fund my account through their site instead of using PayPal directly from my debit card?

The perks of PayPal:
-No one in the US—like the IRS—can track these specific transactions.
-Faster withdrawals (we're talking minutes to a few hours).

The downsides of PayPal:
-Transaction fees (either your bank hits you with a fee, or PayPal charges a cut for card deposits).
-Security (let's be real, keeping money in a major US bank is safer than leaving it in a PayPal account).

I assume you're pulling dollars out of an ATM, not euros.
For instance, if you withdraw $233, Neteller handles the conversion into dollars for you.

wiredcanyon39 said:Can anyone help me out? I withdrew my funds from DraftKings yesterday, then ten minutes later I switched over to Bet365, only to see I still need to upload $10. What do I actually have to do to get them to send me this card? Can I just transfer that $10 (or more) over to Bet365 now so they'll finally ship it? Also, does anyone actually use this Skrill Mastercard? Is it basically just a standard Mastercard that works at any ATM accepting the logo?

You need to have $10 in the account to issue the card. That amount also covers your annual fee.

You can withdraw funds to a high-yield savings account if you’ve received a deposit from them within the last six months.
They don't process payouts via Mastercard.

And you can just have someone else make the payment for you.

What exactly is the implication when Bookmakers include ITF in their offerings? Are they just handing out free money?

John Bishop37 said:Where exactly on my account can I check if I opted out of gambling? Which part of the registration process even asks that? To be honest, I don't recall seeing it. My English isn't exactly my strongest suit...

If I remember correctly, they don't ask anything during sign-up. It happens when you go to deposit via PayPal and they ask if you intend to use those funds for betting.

I assume they're using Neteller; why on earth would anyone use a Chase card to withdraw cash in Canada?
The ATM withdrawal fee is the same everywhere—a flat $4.
And since they're withdrawing in Canada, they'll probably be using Euros anyway.

jadesailor said:Then why on earth do they give me such a garbage exchange rate when converting currency? When I deposit into Marathon using my PayPal account which is set to USD, they charge me a rate of 8.

Just ask them. Why bother guessing? I tried doing the same thing—depositing from my PayPal account into USA using USD, and they gave me a terrible rate. Then, when I tried withdrawing from USA back to PayPal, the rate was even worse.

jadesailor said:Does anyone know how much I'm losing in fees if my PayPal account is in USD, but I'm withdrawing from an ATM or paying for things here in the States using dollars?

Right now, my balance is in a different currency, and whenever I deposit, it converts everything to USD at a rate of about 8.01.

You aren't losing anything. If anything, you're getting a better rate—roughly the mid-market rate—than you would at a local currency exchange kiosk.

steelangler12 said:I could also use a little help getting this account set up.
I linked my Visa card, they took $1.89, and that's all I have in the account right now. Should I withdraw those funds immediately, or what do I need to do to make sure the account is fully functional?
I tried using the "SEND" option, but it asks for an email address to send it to. Is that really how it works—sending money via email?
I'm not exactly tech-savvy when it comes to digital currency or online payments, so bear with me.
I haven't signed up for a sportsbook yet because I want to sort out the payment side first. From what I've gathered, BetMGM seems decent for beginners, and DraftKings or Pinnacle look okay too. I mostly just bet on soccer.

First, you need to verify that card, along with your ID and proof of address.

Someone else can just send you funds from their PayPal, a gift card, or a local sportsbook...
You'll run into some fees when depositing, but isn't the whole point of betting that you're mostly focused on getting paid out?

Tyler Taylor82 said:That’s just not true. On the .com site, they occasionally skip the ID check, but more often than not, they ask for documents...

I have three accounts on each. On the .com version, not a single one requested documentation, but on the .uk version, they asked for it every single time. Using PayPal or Neteller for deposits and withdrawals.

Just in case you haven't noticed, BetMGM actually operates through two different registration sites:
https://www.marathonbet.com and
https://www.marathonbet.co.uk

The odds and the offers are identical, but the real difference lies in the betting limits, withdrawal methods, and the verification process. For instance, the .com site doesn't demand any documentation when you withdraw, whereas the .uk version makes it mandatory...

Mark Carter65 said:Hey everyone!! Things are heating up regarding online betting at foreign bookies. What do you think about this setup I’m using? Basically, I deposit money into my Standard Oil account, transfer it to PayPal, and then from PayPal to an international sportsbook. For withdrawals, it's the same route: sportsbook to PayPal, then PayPal back to Standard Oil. Does this make me "safer"??? Also, is anyone betting on the Canadian DraftKings?? Looking for some feedback?? It seems fine based on what I've heard??

You lose way too much on the USD to EUR conversion and then back again (around 7.8%), plus Standard Oil hits you with a 1% fee when you fund your PayPal.

Why don't you just get a PayPal MASTERCARD? You can't take betting seriously at foreign sportsbooks without one.

Larry King2 said:I’d appreciate it if anyone with experience using DraftKings could share their thoughts. I’ve been looking into them and the odds seem solid, plus the settlement process looks efficient, so I’m considering opening an account. I already have one with Bet365 and want a second option; this one seems decent at first glance. I did dig through some older threads, though, and saw some people complaining about quick account limits. What kind of stakes are we talking about when they start limiting, and are there any other red flags I should know about?
Thanks.

Limits aside, it’s great for live betting since you can place bets almost continuously—roughly every minute.

swiftlynx34 said:Guys, I need recommendations for sportsbooks similar to Bet365 that process Skrill or Neteller withdrawals lightning fast.
I have zero interest in sites where I'm stuck waiting 20 hours for my money...

Bet365 usually settles within an hour... I'm looking for two or three more like them.

Marathon pays out almost instantly.
DraftKings takes about an hour.

I don't really get these rules. They just set limits on me, and now they won't even let me play for peanuts.
At least they have some manners...

If you're using a Visa card, there aren't any fees, and the conversion rate stays pretty close to the mid-market rate.
The same goes for ATM withdrawals, except you'll get hit with a $1.80 fee per transaction.
To qualify for VIP status, they only look at your total deposits to the sportsbooks over a three-month period.
