Discs are treated like a must-have just because they look flashy to people who don't actually know anything about bikes—doesn't matter if it's Shimanov XTR or Pevecov ŽBLJ, it's all just eye candy to them. Meanwhile, V-brakes are considered "outdated," though honestly, who's even riding those kinds of bikes anymore anyway?
Unfortunately, you can't reason with a huge chunk of people. It’s impossible to prove to them that when you're spending that kind of money, it's much smarter, safer, and higher quality to go with a V-brake rather than some shitty disc setup.

They carry them at the local Bike Shop—at least they did when I picked mine up about a year ago. If my memory serves, the non-Kevlar version is $47 with a 1.95 width. Honestly, these tires are solid. The front one has clocked 7,000–8,000 miles and is still going strong, while I swapped the rear after about 4,000. It’s finally time to replace the pair, but cash is a bit tight right now—I've got a new chain and cassette to deal with too... 🙄
